Subject: Armies similar to Stormcast Eternals?

I was going to play the Stormcast Eternals, but I'm thinking I might like to take a darker path army-wise. However, I do like the Eternals' army style (fewer models, at least two wounds for each trooper, good to-hit and to-wound numbers). Are there any armies in the other grand alliances (Chaos, Death, Destruction) that have a similar style?

Slaves to Darkness with a focus on chaos warriors. Slaves are also getting a big update semi soon so now is a great time to jump on board; there still stock of their recent boxed set that you might be able to find at local stores or online and such with their latest battletome if you are lucky.
The Slaves to Darkness Army Set has some chosen, new elites and a huge new demon prince model kit along with all the rules and tokens.
Another army that might suit is Ossiarchs who, whilst not as bulky, do fit the bill for elite hard to kill heavy hitting. They are slower than most other armies in general, but they make up for it by hitting hard and being tough to kill.

When you say "not as bulky," do you mean appearance-wise or in some other way?

I mean appearance wise. Their regular troops are very much human sized. Their cavalry are new and thus have larger mounts than old world mounted models typically have (same as how the new slaanesh mortal riders are riding bigger seekers); meanwhile even their elite troops are somewhat on the thinner rather than bulky side. The Morghasts make up for it a bit, but again they are more in that elite unit slot than regular troops. So next to Stormcast the Ossiarchs might not have that heavy armour bulky impression visually.

I looked for Chaos Warriors on the GW website, but for some reason I can't find them.
Also, did they do away with the Chaos Knights (from WHFB) except for the Varanguard?

Chaos Warriors and Knights got new kits in the new getting started set.
However the original models from fantasy era stuck around for ages. Sounds like they've removed them at last in the lead up to them going live with new versions as part of the current update of the line so they should reappear at some point in the very near future. If not 3rd party stores and even local gw stores might still have stock of them on the shelf to buy.
Varanguard are basically super-elite and way bigger.
edit the getting started set has also vanished - which is expected as GW is shifting from them to the more expensive Vanguard sets now.

I thought at least the Warriors were already out, but I guess not. Is there a release date for either of those new kits?

No. They had 2nd version available some time ago but now with SC kit styled one solo release out soon they went away. SC also went away as usual with aos3 books.
Presumably solo book release comes in january and with that will come chaos warriors, knights( SC kit + upgrade sprue) and vanguard box.
If you want to start with std that release box they put out is very, very good deal with 14 brand new units and units are even good in new book(which isn't quarantee). So you could get worse start to the army than that. Plus of course discount(unless you need to pay over RPP from scalpers).
Then varanguard got hefty boost in new book so not a waste(though expensive cash wise). Karkadrok lord will be good though will need to wait for solo release/hunt for ebay(likely solo release cheaper).
But yeah starting StD right now would be tricky at least if you are looking at 2k force right away. But january is around the corner.
(oh and the spider cultists is another good unit to have if you want to buy something now)

They are technically Grand Alliance Order, but otherwise Daughters of Khaine with Snake Ladies would meet your requirements. They would be “darker side” and while they can go horde, most go with the Snakes which are elite, 2 wound models. They have access to amazing shenanigans right now.

SCE were modelled after Slaves to Darkness in many ways (both IRL and in universe) so that is the most obvious analogy to go with. The new StD book is strong, too.

Figured I'd put this question here rather than start a new thread for it.
I'd also be interested in any "glass cannon" builds for armies (good to-hit/to-wound numbers, lots of attacks, but only 1 Wound per trooper and/or middling to bad saves).
I found a way to build a Skaven army something like that, focusing on Stormvermin. However, the Flesh-Eater Courts are an army that's always intrigued me, so I'm wondering if their statlines would suit a "glass cannon" build type of army?

Yes and no. They can punch hard and aren't super tough but still 4w and resurection abilities. Just lots of points for wounds. 1w guys need loads of buffs to hit okay. They are glass without hammer. Either cheap throwaway unit or big pile of models to tarpit for a while.
Khaines with foot ladies are very much glasshammer. Hit like brick but not much survivability. 6+ ward isn''t that hot...

Basic Crypt Ghouls (the only 1W unit) just don't hit very hard. Neither are they very durable, or even all that cheap in points... they just get summoned in/rezzed back a lot for free. They bog things down while bigger stuff does the real work.
The most glass-cannon builds are focused on Skaven IMO. I don't think they can realistically be matched in ridiculously high-powered offense on ridiculously low-durability bodies, and they certainly cannot be matched in capacity to blow themselves up. Both Eshin and Skryre have some extremely high damage, low durability 1W infantry units (Gutter Runners, Acolytes) coupled with loads of shenanigans. Pestilens gets both sides with Plague Monks being very glass cannon while Plague Furnaces are extremely tanky when properly utilized (-1 to hit and -1 to wound them in melee, 5+ ward, & healing from two different prayers).
