This year I plan to:
● put a 30k/HH force on the table (Iron Warriors)
I started this project back in the summer. But it's been low priority. Finally though enough other people have started building/painting stuff & we're looking at starting a league! So I gotta get this project finished soon.

● Use CSM/Deathguard/maybe World Eaters & Demons in the shops next 40k campaign/Crusade & beyond.
I've got a lot of misc Chaos stuff that (other than demons) hasn't seen play for many years.
Let's see if I can match my Grot force's win % with Chaos.

● build a small US Army demo force for Bolt Action
● build a similar Italian army force for Bolt Action

● Finnish building several Kill Teams (Necrons, AdMech, & Tau) later today.

● Run a BattleTech campaign of some sort.

● build something from my backlog each week (in addition to any specific projects)

● Paint at least 1 more mini than I did this year.

● Spend less $ on gaming/minis this year.
Shouldn't be too hard given what i spent in '22.I....

● I'd say "play more". But I logged ALOT of gaming hours/days this past year. So '22 might be hard to beat on that front.
So maybe I'll try & play a wider variety.
('22 was alot of 40k & Sigmar, a fair bit of BT & KT, & then a bit of everything else)

So what are your 2023 gaming plans?

Hoping we can finally start our 40K Crusade Campaign. We were supposed to start in 2020, but yeahhhh..

I even got my Planetary Empires / Mighty Empires combo tileset commission painted by Ms. Polanscak I've been wanting to crack out from the wrappers for this one. Hoping the group can get together this year to get started! Mixing Kill Team and even Arks of Omen into the Campaign is part of the plan, I have Into The Dark box so we just need one more tileset to play 40K boarding action games.

I have been planning a narrative for the campaign, and want to use the hextile map in a meaningful way to add depth to the whole thing. Was thinking that occupying territories would increase Requisition Points for a faction, and tiles denoted as "priority objectives" for each faction (these differ for each faction somewhat depending on their agendas) would multiply RPs even further. Each faction will have one "Nuke" so one hex tile can be changed into a crater during the game; forces cannot enter a nuked tile without suffering some sort of penalty and a Nuked territory never generates RP's. It's all still a bit hazy but I'll flesh it out when we get started, as the overall narrative will largely depend on the factions involved in the campaign..

In hindsight, I'm in a much better position to start playing this campaign now than I was in 2020, largely thanks to last year's Awesome Rogue Trader -era miniature remakes in the HH product range. The new plastic vehicles look fantastic and really drive home the look I wanted my 40K army to have.

Besides the Crusade, I want to be playing more KillTeam.. and if we get e rerelease of Epic, I have no choice but to start playing yet another system

My plans for the coming year are to predominately crack on with my burgeoning 30k force.
I've currently got a touch over 2500 points worth of models in various stages of completion, which I can push to 3k's worth if my opponent is willing to allow me some count's as. But at the moment, barring a tooled up spartan and two dreadnoughts, it's entirely infantry based, so I'm thinking of picking up some predators for massed plasma/volkite shenanigans or maybe a bunch of rhinos and bikes for a really mobile list i've been playing around with.
The local club has a few 30k players already and in the last month or so there's been a couple more show an interest in the game, so hopefully that'll be good for having a steady supply of opponents.
I've got a couple of learner games in so far, but they've all been 1k points, so i've keen to get some 2k+ games in.

I will also continue to expand my ever growing MESBG collection and hopefully get some games in too as there are a bunch of local players who seem to have a good range of armies.
I've been focusing a lot on my Rohan and Mordor forces over the last year or two, but I think i'll swing on to Gondor and maybe Khand this year, once I put the finishing touches on the last of my mounted Rohirrim.

There's also been talk of a Mordheim campaign at the local club which i'd be interested in joining in with. So if that goes ahead it could prove an interesting diversion.

I’ve got my general goals which I repeat every year. Three things I want to focus more on in 2023.

A stretch goal is to finish my primaris battle company. The volume left is reasonable, but would eat up a large chunk of hobby time for the year

When I started my tyranids, the goal was to keep them Pile of Shame neutral. Buy a unit, build a unit, paint a unit. repeat. I’ve been wildly unsuccessful on this. But it’s not my fault! Picked up the Christmas set a couple years back, the combat patrol more recently, and a friend moving across the country gifted me his old collection. So the volume of bugs coming in has been a lot faster than I can paint them. And I paint them pretty quick. I’d like to get them under control. I’ve mostly built everything (I think I’ve got 4 stealers left on spure) but the to prime/primed piles are pretty infested. I could get this done in the year, but again, it would take a bulk of my hobby life.

Which conflicts with the 3rd thing. I want to paint a more diverse set of things. This last year was like 95% nids and ultras. Out of the slightly less than a 100 minis I painted, 5 were not part of those two groups. While my Deathwatch project is pretty much abandoned, my Eldar need to get more paint. I was all thrilled with their new refresh last year and only got one of them painted. Need more. Also totally skipped out on the undead this last year. I might not play AoS but once an edition, but I do love the models.

My primary plan is to finally build and paint all the stuff I collected the least year. I might have lost track of several projects ...

A secondary goal is to get more games in this year, primarily 5 parsecs from home and 40k

And another goal is to spend far less, i might have run out of space for new stuff ...

My main project for 2023 is the holy grail of historicals: Napoleonics.

18mm, using General d'Armee and the recently released 1813 campaign book.

I'm going to have historically accurate forces for the first two scenarios (which involves assembling and painting Russians, Prussian, and French), and then fill in to do the other scenarios as needed.

If I can get the first two scenarios fully painted and played with my own collection, I'll consider the project a success.

Otherwise, I'm hoping to run more games at club events and further pare down my collection of stuff I haven't gamed with in some time.

Mine is going to be a bit different-

Model wise about the only thing i am looking at is getting the final parts of my MK III Khador army assembled and painted. i will probably pick up a few of the new catalyst plastics i do not already own in metal for classic BattleTech. i need to pick up a few more ships from the Star Wars armada line to flesh out my clone wars era ships. otherwise, i am pretty well set for models and armies-

I own many models and armies for the dozen or so games i play and i have spent a large amount of time gathering corresponding terrain/game mats for tables.

My real focus is on continuing building and supporting the local gaming community at the FLGS. i have been rewarded with a great gaming group that i want to see grow and thrive.

Thanks for asking OP!

You can find mine here: http://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2023/01/random-2023-will-go-down-in-history.html

However, this year is a bit sparse on the defined Goals and Objectives. You see, I have completed a lot of projects over the last few years, and I do not have any looming deadlines at the moment. That means, this year I might be able to do a project just for me!

That's where the problem is! I am really unsure what a project like that entails at the moment. Probably something with 6mm or 28mm ancients, or Naval, or little airplanes, or Martians, plunging into Napoleonics, or..... you see the issue now don't you?

2022 was a good year. Got my backlog largely clear, got my armies mostly organized and packaged in a more modular way. Good stuff all around. Need to keep that going moving forward.

As for 2023, I think it's mostly about playing. My big goal is to get back to a more pick up game night every week where people are playing a variety of games. Since the pandemic we've relied a lot on setting things up via Discord, but I'd like something better suited to drawing in new players, as well as regular demo days again.

In terms of games being played that I want to keep up with:

Main Games

Marvel Crisis Protocol remains my favorite and the most popular game in the community. I don't see that slowing down, but I would like to create a bit more table variety for it.

Warmachine Mk4 has been fairly popular. As the new armies see release I'm hoping it takes off again. This one is hard to see, but its back in regular rotation for me.

Malifaux a lot of people really love this one. I do as well, but rarely find that game's finish on time. Still, it's a game with a big following locally and I don't see that changing. Not sure I need any of the new masters, but I'll keep my collection up to date as necessary.

Side Games

Bushido has been fun, but hasn't seen as much table time as I expected. Definitely a game I'd like to play more of, but it always seems to be someone's 3rd or 4th game they'd like to play.

Infinity is probably my favorite game I don't play a ton. Mostly it comes down to people not really being able to play without me, either because they're not confortable with the rules or just don't have enough terrain. Still, my favorite side game.

Monsterpocalypse has kind of been on hold since the Kickstarter. That thing seems to be crashing and burning and I fear it might take the game down with it. Such a shame, maybe my favorite game ever?

New Challengers!

Judgement. I've been in love with this since 2016 but didn't feel like it was a worthwhile buy until the KS. With that finally reaching backers soon, I'm hoping it becomes a mainstay locally.

Rivenstone. Pretty meh on this one honestly, but a lot of locals are pretty keen on it. I have an army coming; we'll have to see how it goes from there.

Obviously in terms of hobby goals, the two above are my major painting projects. I'll also need to paint up the new Mk4 Khador and I'm working on some Battletech mostly as a painting project.

Beyond that, I'd like to organize and design my tables a little better. Haven't worked on terrain for a while, but I feel it's time to mix that up a little. Layouts are getting a little stale.

LunarSol...so few games....the joke at our store when new people come in and ask what we play-the answer is just Yes! Well except for 9th ed 40K that is pretty much dead including the people who used to actively play it as they have switched heavy to BattleTech, FOW, infinity and the like.

Oh, I've got armies for like 20 more games. I'm just focusing on the ones that currently have the most hype. We've definitely have developed a solid "play everything" culture, it's just become more of an ad-hoc affair lately and needs a little focus to pull in new people.

Same. Sadly one of the not-so-local friendly game stores (the only one that discounted) closed during the nightmare-that-was-december.
Not sure how often the two remaining ones do game nights (though if winter actually visits this area at some point, one is over the mountain, which can be a problem). Well, there are two more that are officially 'too far' (the trip just isn't worth it for me) AND one of them is in an area of a nearby town that really wants to be a suburb of Robocop's Detroit.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

A small Ulthwe army for use with both 40K and Kill Team and some more Frozen Stars Harlequins as well. I need more Tyranids too! Hopefully 10th edition will hit in the summer...if not...urgh.

Currently working on a Knight House for 40K with the intention of use in 30K, but waiting on GW to add Dominus rules and a design for a larger knight. Its a shame that GW are being difficult with the Dominus because I'd have already jumped onboard the 30K train, so its just as much their loss as mine.

Frostgrave, BSF, Castle Ravenloft...just more of that good stuff I guess.

Sadly, I'm letting go of any hope for Adeptus Titanicus. It was my greatest passion at one point but its hard to maintain enthusiasim for it when the releases have dried up, and GW keeps passing on simple fixes that would make it a much better experience. As much as I'm the master of homebrewing, AT is the one game I try and keep to the "meta" as it were...

Dragonlance has finally returned to D&D and I'd love a 5th edition book for Dragons of Dispair, as Heroes of the Lance for the ZX Spectrum was my first exposure to the setting and D&D, beyond the awesome saturday morning cartoon show, of course.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I'm hoping to attend some 40k tournaments. My goal each year nowadays is 3 or more GT or larger events (money permitting), and as many local RTTs as I can make it to, as I like to support my local scene when I can. Travel has been an issue for me in the past, as with no transportation I'm stuck only going to events other locals are going to and bumming a ride with them, but this year I'm actually getting a car (soon, actually) so maybe I can travel a bit more.

I'd love to attend an event that isn't 40k (even if it's just another GW game like AoS or Middle-Earth) just to diversify a bit, but I'm not sure that'll be possible. At the very least I'd like to play other games locally.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):

Main plan is to get my hobby time sorted out after the arrival of dog.

Also after many years of not being able to get any games in, planning on trying out Battletech Alpha strike as a means to get some play by e-mail games sorted, and see if the minimal setup time of playing on hex maps can lead to some games with my son. Struggle to keep his attention during setup so he loses interest in the game before it starts!

Might be a good time for it as well with a promising looking Kickstarter due soon.

+Assemble & paint my Black Legion + Chaos Knights army.

+Assemble & paint the remaining Imperial Knights for my House Taranis army.
+Assemble & paint my Sector Imperialis terrain set.

This is probably doable for most, but I procrastinate and spend too much time targeting 'high quality' rather than aiming for 'good enough'. As a result, projects take too long and pile up.

One of the best things I ever did for myself was create a paint log to get an idea of how fast I can get things done so that I can better judge what I can take on. It regularly remind me how far out something will be if I pick it up now so I'm not just adding to the pile with no time to work on it. It also encourages me to get through things a little faster so I can pick up something I wouldn't otherwise have time for.
