  • Just toying around with some ideas since we're talking about a COD tournament out this way, and Carmachu's comments in the tactics thread got me thinking.

I'm purposely not listing any stratagems, since one of the ideas proposed was that stratagems will be rolled on a chart randomly, and/or you could only use one stratagem per game, to minimize 'schtick abuse' (e.g. 'nids/BA with sewer rats).

Unnamed 1500 Point Witch Hunters Army:

HQ:
  • Canonness: Bolt Pistol, Blessed Weapon, Cloak of St. Aspira, Book of St. Lucius, Litanies of Faith, Jump Pack, Frag Grenades
  • Canonness: Inferno Pistol, Eviscerator, Cloak, Book, Jump Pack, Melta bombs (yes, Virginia, she's hunting tanks).
  • Priest: CCW/Laspistol (hangs with zealots)
Personal note: I'm not 100% on the JPs on the 'nesses. Normally, I love 'em, but with that many Dif. terrain checks...I'm really looking for guidance on this one.

Troops:
  • SOB squad: 10 w/VSS (Eviscertator, BP, Book of St. Lucius), HF/Melta; inna rhino (EA/Smoke)
  • SOB squad: same
  • Zealots: 16. 4 Fanatics w/Eviscerators
  • 5 STs w/2 plasma
  • 5 ST w/2 melta
Zealots should be fun and wompy: tempted to break them up into smaller units, and find the points for another priest. Kinda 'meh' on the STs (could easily be arbites instead); I don't think they hurt anything, but they don't add anything either, except some infilitration, which is always nice.

Fast Attack:
  • Seraphim: 8 w/VSS (book, Eviscerator); 2 HF
I love these girls too much not to bring 'em! I'd take a 2nd squad if I could...

Heavy Support:
  • 2 Penitent Engines
Ah, if only the exorcist were indirect fire! Sadly, they're not, and this is my chance to get crazy whompy with the Engines, and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Points: 1500. Faith Points: 7 (not including Litanies). A little faith light, but doable. Things I'm debating:

1. Keeping the JPs on the Canonnesses
2. Keeping the rhinos vs/ boosting numbers of girls in each squad (better to have 'em foot-slog?)
3. Keep the Stormtroopers/Arbites? If not, what to replace 'em with? Retributors w/HBs, maybe? Celestian Squad for more faith and vague CC ability?
4. Too many eviscerators (as if there's such a thing?
5. Split up Zealots, or keep crazy-go-nuts squad?

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!

[EDIT]: fixed maths.

Shalom Syr: Here are my comments on your list. I have been using WH in CoD games and can offer some suggestions. HQ: Canonness: Bolt Pistol, Blessed Weapon, Cloak of St. Aspira, Book of St. Lucius, Litanies of Faith, Jump Pack, Frag Grenades Canonness: Inferno Pistol, Eviscerator, Cloak, Book, Jump Pack, Melta bombs (yes, Virginia, she's hunting tanks). --Not bad choices. I have to admit on such a small board only one is really needed. Priest: CCW/Laspistol (hangs with zealots) Personal note: I'm not 100% on the JPs on the 'nesses. Normally, I love 'em, but with that many Dif. terrain checks...I'm really looking for guidance on this one. --like I said, the canonesses aren't bad choices, but you could get more boots on the ground if you drop one. As for DT tests, I wouldn't worry. Most of the time they are moving in the open ground, and even if you land in DT they still get the reroll because they are IC's Troops: SOB squad: 10 w/VSS (Eviscertator, BP, Book of St. Lucius), HF/Melta; inna rhino (EA/Smoke) SOB squad: same Zealots: 16. 4 Fanatics w/Eviscerators -- All good choices. 5 STs w/2 plasma 5 ST w/2 melta --Definitely drop the Stormtroopers... more sisters is better. I would try a large squad of sisters....say about 14 or more. That way they can anchor your table quarter while your other units grab objectives. Zealots should be fun and wompy: tempted to break them up into smaller units, and find the points for another priest. Kinda 'meh' on the STs (could easily be arbites instead); I don't think they hurt anything, but they don't add anything either, except some infilitration, which is always nice. -- Zealots should be a fun unit to be aggressive with. The ST's are too few in number to matter and you'd be better served taking more sisters units. Fast Attack: Seraphim: 8 w/VSS (book, Eviscerator); 2 HF I love these girls too much not to bring 'em! I'd take a 2nd squad if I could... -- Great choice. Plus the number is right. I was fielding 6 in a unit and they don't hold up as long, so for me it's back to fielding 8 again. Just make sure not to get them caught in the open. Positioning is key. They make a great unit for that last push for the objective. Heavy Support: 2 Penitent Engines Ah, if only the exorcist were indirect fire! Sadly, they're not, and this is my chance to get crazy whompy with the Engines, and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. ---Not a bad choice. They move fast and the terrain won't slow them down. Wrecker Strategem will work wonders. I'd also recommend Retributors...man with a power generator they are sweet. Capt k

Thanks Capt. Will definitely consider dropping the 2nd 'ness (can probably squeeze in a ret. squad for her points, though the idea of the chainsaw chick was really appealing!). As for the STs, I can get a 6-girl Celestian Squad w/2 Meltas and a VSS w/Book and Eviscerator for about the same price. Dropping the rhinos will also give me plenty of points for Extra girls in the squads (14 each sounds fine, especially with the new VP rules), and would go toward those Retributors.

Are rets a better option than dominions in this case? How about an Immolator (I'd love to actually be able to use one)?

Syr Wrote: "Are rets a better option than dominions in this case? How about an Immolator (I'd love to actually be able to use one)?" Yes Retributors are probably a better buy than dominions for CoD. I use and 8 man squad and they work well. A decent squad size to get the divine guidance off and pairing them with the power generator should pay off big during a game. If you want the immolator...add it as the transport for the Celestians. I use one to transport mine and so far it has worked out ok. In one game it didn't do so well, but in the second and third game it did suprisingly well. Once you move to a forward building, drop off the celestians and have them continue on foot. The immolator can then be used as a nice cheap distraction. The other thing I forgot was an Orbital Strike. Sure it requires an inquisitor, but in the CoD games I have played it has done some great damage to my opponents...it may be worth taking a look at. Capt K
