OK we really are living in a golden age of miniatures. Many old metal lines are still in production, more and more companies are making one-piece or multipart plastics, and then there is the infinite world of 3D printing.

What's that you say, you want Adeptus Arbites? Do you prefer STLs for the Rogue Trader, 2nd Edition or Necromunda Enforcers? How about all 3?

But who would we be if we did not want... MORE!

So... let's have at it.

Science Fiction

I've been really loving Northstar's Stargrave line, it's easy to build, generic enough for all sorts of games and easy to paint. Just a lot more fun than GW's current designs of 5-10 part infantrymen that only go together one way. Plus they're doing partnerships with other manufacturers like Reptilian Overlord's Space Nam.

Hope we see more from them, especially with the wargame Xenos Rampant out.

Astronauts - Guys and gals in big ole teddy bear suits with bubble helmets. Transparent helmets would be a big plus. Alternate tool and weapon arms.

Scavangers - I just did like 50 morlocks by crossing Frostgrave cultists with Stargrave gun arms and loved them. Would love custom Sci-Fi scavagers/survivors in rags with a mix of modern guns and homemade stuff. Maestrom's Edge's Broken come close, but I wasn't happy with the guns.

Fleet Officers - Basically guys in some sort of formal military uniform like the Imperial Fleet in Star Wars, the movie era Starfleet red uniforms or some of the more retro IG regiments. Well dressed men with high tech weapons who don't need to lug gear around.

Space Zombies - Especially if they're compatible with Frostgrave/Stargrave. They're zombies. And in Space!

Green Martians - John Carter style 10' tall, 4 armed green Martians with muskets and swords. Just the thing for some Space Natives to oppress/liberate.

Spoiler:

Panicked Civilians - Stargrave and the Broken make for some nice civilians but I'd love some dudes who were throwing up their arms, screaming and stuff. I mean these are for wargames and people aren't likely to sit there sipping coffee or soldering wire when the King Kong sized space monsters show up.

What's on your list?

Mantic have been putting some great stuff along those line in the "Dungeon Adventures" line, under Terrain Crate.
https://www.manticgames.com/games/terrain-crate/dungeon-adventures-critters/

A sprue of wild animals would be great.

For Sci-Fi; I wish there was a "variety pack" for the Stargrave plastics. I just want a dozen minis with some variety to make a crew, so a box of 20 similar is bit much.
A bundle for Space Station Zero from someone would be amazing.

I'm keeping an eye on what Mantic is going to do with Rebs for Firefight.
Hopefully there will be a unit (and therefore sprue) of rag tag Space rebel fighter types.

I'd love more retro Oldhammer & Herohammer STLs. I really wish someone would make modular WHFB 4e/5e style beastmen, and maybe some modular RT orks that look more like the metals than the plastics would be nice. If the Monstrous Encounters guy got his health issues worked out (in general, nevermind my minis wishlist, I hope he gets better) and got us common goblins in the style of his night goblins, I'd be over the moon.

In the realm of not-rehashing-a-better-GW, more Northstar plastics. Oathmark: elf cavalry, human linebreakers. Frostgrave and Stargrave: just...more. More Northstar plastics! ALL the Northstar plastics!

Oh, and I'd really like for Wargames Atlantics Egyptians to finally come out. I have a Hyborean Stygia project planned for those.

D'oh!

Point remains, between WGA and Northstar I have all the sci fi plastics I could need.

Yet I want more.

Northstar and Brigade in the United States occasionally offer single sprues and I can find most sprues on ebay for under $10. I'm on my 3rd spure order in the last few months and loving it. Cheap and cheerful and easy to build.

Assuming Golden gets more stock, I'll be attempting to get northstar plastics to offer as sprues.

Let me know if you do, and I’ll be down for some Crew 2, Troops 2 or whatever 2 sprues. Northstar minis are rarer here than 18-packs of eggs.

Modern/Near Future

Survivors/Civilians-The Wargames Factory armed civilian kit was... not good. One might even call it bad. I tried to love it but there was no love in heart. So I'd love a good one, especially if could offered combatant and non combatant arms.

Cops/guards - pistols, flashlights, note pads, doughnuts, truncheons, maybe some shotguns. The poor saps who respond initially to the emergency and do not do well.

SWAT Teams - shields, SMGs, rams, grenade launchers, wave 2 of either the fearless public defenders or the faceless oppressors.

Armed Hazmat Teams - Come on the pandemic started 3 years ago, where is my Health Enforcement Team here to isolate the zombie outbreak with flamethrowers and assault rifles? Can double as modern troops in NBC gear.

Rioters - Can double as panicked civilians!

Terrorists/Freedom Fighters - Whether they're ruthless terrorists threatening society or brave freedom fighters struggling against the faceless oppress chances are they're going to dress the same.

Modern Zombies - Like the Wargames Factory ones but y'know, good. Bonus if they're compatible with other kits to make zombie cops, civilians etc.

Fantasy

Landsknechte Halflings - To go with the Ogres. Bonus if they can ride on the Ogre shoulders.

Fairies - Ethereally thin, winged, with bows and needle-like swords. Not sure if I want them human sized or much smaller, maybe half human size is practical?

Landsknechte Zombies - Just because you're a zombie doesn't mean you can't be well dressed.

Fully Armored Knights - realistic armor, not fantasy/anime. I guess the Perry's already make this. Maybe I just need to buy the Perry's knights. But I worry they'd be small. Y'know?

Landsknechte Females - Why should men have all the fun

Ghosts - mulitpart cast in clear plastic, which I guess Reaper already does but as monopose models. Hrm. This is harder than I thought.

Landsknechte Giant - Because the Ogres need someone to lead them. Let's make this the summer of Landsknechtes!

Been beating a dead horse on this one.....it would be a huge hit IMHO but....plastic robots like the ones in the movie I-Robot and wheeled/tracked ones like in the movie version of Lost in Space.

They can be civilian, or armed to be security or combots.

No company seems to want to take the leap. UGH.

I'm loving the Stargrave and WA stuff, especially since they are interchangeable.

I'd love to see smart miniatures makers realize this a great selling point.

Especially if you make guys who can cross genres. There is a company that does plastic gunfighters, and I have mixed them in with my Stargrave stuff. Would love to see some really generic pirates in plastic that can be mixed in as well. I think Frostgrave might have some.

Plastic space apes/bestial men/non GW orcs.
Space elves.

Space Lansknecht Ogres. (JK)

From Mantic (in HIPS, not PVC): updated Undead army's ghouls and skelletons. Updated orcs.
From GW:
Fantasy: updated Grave Guard, Saurus, Skaven Gutter/Night Runners.
40k: Tyranids: at the minimum - updated Terma/Horma Gaunts, Ripper Swarm, Stealers, Lictor/Deathleaper, Bio/Pyro Vores, and LoW (either Dominatrix or some current FW one) . Other - new Carnifex, new Raveners/Red Terror, Dactylis, Malefactor, and anything left in resin ported into plastic.

I'd like to see some "NPC-style" 40k models (could be used as objective markers).

Something like an Administratum scribe, a pilgrim, a loader servitor..

Hell, even a Grox would make for a good bit of scenery (or even a custom scenario/hazard).

I don't know if it would be sensible or feasible, but maybe Wargames Atlantic could partner with a sculptor like Highlands Miniatures to produce a sprue of their dwarfs, for example. The Battle of Skull Pass dwarfs were all on one sprue, so I wonder if newer sculpts would work, or if they would be too detailed.

I'd love to see a lot of GW's Middle Earth models that are currently in metal or resin to be updated to plastic kits. I don't expect it to happen any time soon, if ever, but a guy can dream, right?

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I would not wish a rewatch of Hobbit III The Last 20 Pages on anyone, but I did kind of like the various siege trolls in it.

Maybe not enough to BUY them in plastic, but just enough to want them to exist in plastic.

Loads of good ideas here already. I'll second hazmat teams, armed astronauts, fairys and kolbolds.

Fantasy town guards, in uniforms something like the bad guys in the first frozen film. Crossbows, halberds, sword and board options. Head options would make them either good guys or evil henchmen.

From GW, a fricking thunderhawk already.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.
