'Member when GW had points costs for additional wargear, making it a choice rather than pretty much required? Yeah, I 'member.

I've been collecting Imperial Guard since 2nd edition. The army has evolved over the years, as new editions and codices have come out. Looking at where the army is now there are a few things I'd like to do to make it ready for 9th edition (no guarantee this will be good for 10th edition of course).

My 9th edition army has two Infantry Squads and 6 Cadian Shock Troop squads. I'm fine for special weapons and heavy weapons, no real issue there. What I need:

6 sergeants with drum fed autoguns
8 vox casters with lasgun.

My army has no Cadian models in it. It's a bit of a mish mash, mainly consisting of old metal Catachan models and some Necromunda models from the 1995 version (Eschers, Orlocks and Ratskins mostly).

For the sergeants with drum fed autoguns I think I'll just use Orlocks from the current edition of Necromunda. Their autoguns are drum fed so fit the bill. I collect Orlocks for Necromunda anyway so I have enough bits lying around to do this.

My real dilemma is finding 8 vox caster models. I already have one old metal Catachan with comm-link, but only one. I shudder to think how much it would cost me to find another 7. A pretty boring option too.

Finding some plastic vox casters and sticking them on a metal model could work, though fitting these on old metal models in a way that doesn't look naff would be difficult. I'd also like to avoid the plastic Catachan troop set, as the models are ugly.

Any suggestions that more or less fit the models I already have in my army are welcome. I don't own a 3D printer so would like to avoid anything that requires that.

I was going to suggest the Orlock drum fed for Sgt. but looks like you have it covered. The plastic vox from platoon/catachan fits well, though I don't suggest you gluing it, instead use tack glue(Hobby Lobby) after painting.

Can't speak to how well these would fit with your existing troops, but if you're not afraid of going 3rd party, Victoria, Anvil (twice), Mad Robot, Mortian, and Tiny Legend all have spare comms backpacks (and there are probably others).

Thanks for the suggestions. Good idea to not super glue the backpack to a model, especially if my concern is WYSIWYG. Should also be relatively easy to find some backpacks, either on Ebay or third parties. My main concern though is finding models that look the part.

As mentioned I already have this model. I actually found a second one while rummaging around amongst my spare miniatures box:

I also have a Raging Heroes model which fits the part:

I'm not a big fan of this model but she does the job. Don't really want to buy 5 more of this model though.
