Does anybody happen to know of any miniature painting workshops in NW Europe, at a longshot in the Netherlands? I feel like my painting skills have hit a plateau and no matter how much I study online videos I’m sure that learning in real life from an expert would be better.

If you can’t help I’d still be curious to hear if anybody has any experience of taking actual painting lessons. What was it like?

I don't know about specific lessons or teachers, but here (Dakkadakka) people are really helpful and ready to root out problems.

So what is the problem or why is your painting stalling? Are you interested in methods or do you like experimentations?

It's online, not in person - but Angel Giraldez is now running a course:

15€ sounds kind of reasonable tbh. I might give this a try, it wont help with my biggest issues (impaired vision) but I'm always keen to learn more about the hobby.

This is just a couple videos though, correct?

Pulled the trigger. It's a series of videos. I'll post my opinions once I have watched em all, but for now I'll get back to work

Good man!

I do like AGs videos generally, he's good at explaining what he's doing and why. Seems like a lovely chap as well...

Thanks for the replies. I actually stumbled on AG’s course today and have signed up. I’m looking forward to following it. I’ve learned a lot from online videos and this forum also has been great for asking questions and getting tips. But I guess I’d really like someone to look over my shoulder and tell me if I’m really following those tips properly. For one thing I can’t for the life of me get NMM right. I get the idea but every time I try it the colours always end up looking really patchy and separate from each other. There’s no smoothness…. Also glazing. I just can’t seem to get smooth transitions. I glaze and glaze and glaze and it looks like nothing is happening so I’m expecting to gradually start seeing something subtle and then one more coat and suddenly there’s this really sharp edge to the transition!
