As stated in the title, this is what resulted when I asked OpenAI (ChatGPT) to create a Warhammer 40k story. NOTE: I do not claim this as my work. I do not intend any copyright infringement, just to show what happens with this prompt, as I thought you might find this interesting.

My prompt:

"Write a short story about a Space Marine from the Ultramarines Chapter from the Warhammer 40,000 universe fighting an Ork horde."

The response:

"Captain Marcus Aurelius of the Ultramarines Chapter stood on the bridge of his battle barge, watching as the blue and gold armored warriors under his command prepared to make planetfall on the Ork-held world below. He had fought the greenskins before, and knew that they were a tough, savage foe. But the Ultramarines were the Emperor's finest, and they would not be defeated.

As the drop pods hurtled down towards the planet's surface, Marcus felt his heart pounding in his chest. He had been trained for this his whole life, and he knew that the next few hours would determine the fate of the world. The Orks had overrun a nearby settlement and were threatening to spread their destruction further.

When the Ultramarines emerged from their drop pods, they found themselves in the midst of a sea of green-skinned Orks. The air was thick with the sound of gunfire and the screams of dying warriors. But Marcus and his battle-brothers were undaunted. They charged forward, their bolters barking as they cut down the enemy with deadly precision.

The Orks fought with a fierce determination that was almost admirable. They were bigger and stronger than any human, and they seemed to relish the violence of the battle. But the Ultramarines were better trained and better equipped, and they fought with a cool, efficient professionalism that left the Orks reeling.

Marcus led his warriors forward, his chainsword humming as he cut down any Ork foolish enough to stand in his way. He had trained for this his entire life, and he knew that his skill and determination would be the difference between victory and defeat.

As the battle raged on, the Ultramarines pushed deeper into the heart of the Ork horde. They fought with a ferocity that left the greenskins reeling, and soon the tide of battle had turned in their favor. The Orks began to break and run, their morale shattered by the fierce onslaught of the Space Marines.

In the end, the Ultramarines emerged victorious. The Ork horde was shattered, and the world was safe once more. Marcus looked out over the battlefield, his heart swelling with pride. He knew that he and his warriors had done the Emperor proud, and that they had shown the galaxy the might of the Ultramarines."

I think this is rather clichéd, but it reminds me a lot of some of the Warhammer novels I've read.
Reactions, thoughts?

I tried ChatGPT, feeding it some of my short stories' opening chapters and asking it to continue the story. It comes up with plausible plotlines without any real style.

The ChatGPT Warhammer story is similar.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
