I haveI heard conflicting information about the boarding patrols. I was told by a GW rep that the boarding patrols are one and done. Essentially a limited run and not coming back. But at another store they said they are just temporary out of stock and it'll eventually be restocked with both combat and boarding patrols being available longterm. And then I have also heard that the boarding patrols are going to replace the combat patrols eventually and you can see on the site there are some combat patrols that are sold out and no longer available now which would point to that being the case.

So now I am just confused.

Unless it's causing you to be unable to get models you want? Don't worry about it.

Ah yes. Just buy models at full price over discount.

Are you gw staff? Or why you don't see people might like to buy gw's expensive models at discount?

The boarding patrols are hard to impossible to order in certain parts of the world. Or GW suprises your store by sending it 6 of the same one, which no one want to buy, and GW answser to the order being wrong is first ignoring and then saying they are out of boxes. And I don't even have it against them. They really are busy printing out all the stuff for 10th. A small extra bump in sales of any faction, even marines, is incomperable to the bust they get from releasing a new edition.

You’ve leapt to the attack with quite some assumptions there for… what reason?

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

If this were the WWE, leaping to the attack would be tnev's signature move.

Also weird that no one's even attempted to answer the question (A for effort Karol! ).

GW are about to launch a new way of playing the game called Combat Patrol. It's marketing spank through and through, but it is based on the Combat Patrol boxes first and foremost, so those aren't going away. Plus they haven't even released all the boarding patrols we know are coming - the World Eater one is one we're waiting for!

The Boarding Patrols are an attempt to capitalise on the Arks of Omen/boarding action rule set + terrain that's in vogue at the moment. Some of them are good deals, others are kind of "meh", but if you want one, I'd get it, as they're not an evergreen product. The initial ones are long gone, and stores appear to be getting very restricted access. One of the stores I go to got one allocation of the recent Tau box, and that had the new Farsight in it.

EDIT: I love how tank with a 'w' is too much for the word filter, but we're all totally ok with "spank".

Central and eastern europe are not the focus of GW. Stuff you can easily get at a discount or just get in UK is extremly hard to get, or even impossible. And GW made it so prices they have and FLGS prices are the same AND it is very hard to legaly order stuff from, lets say better supplied Germany, to other countries. Stores have to order their stuff from GW directly. As you can imagine getting lets say one kit or one set of cards, multiple players may want, is something that makes people not very happy. It makes those people even less happy, when they see other people, say something kin to "why don't they eat cake" comment.

That's pretty much what I heard one of the guys say as well. However, I find it interesting like the Space Marine Boarding Patrol seems to be gone from the website now which indicates that they may not be part of the standard line like the combat patrols are.

I don't think they ever intended for them to hang around. Consider: They're for the boarding patrol rules, the rules for which are in the Arks of Omen books... which you can't buy, as they sell out instantly. This is all "flash in the pan" stuff.

So as I said, if there's one you've got your eye on, grab it when you can. If it's a past one and you can't find it, then you're out of luck I'm afraid.

The boarding patrols seem slightly better value than Combat Patrols (possibly because they can't pad with one expensive medium sized monster/vehicle).

I very much believe they are limited availability because of this better value.

I did therefore FOMO a few Necrons boxes this week.
