GW social media did an oopsie again and released a tweet too early:

https://twitter.com/warhammer/status/1658789490121490435

Skulls 2023 starts May 25th and will include 'exciting announcements and world premieres' as well as a week of discounts up to 80% for selected Warhammer titles.
The Announcement Showcase on Twitch will be May 25th 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm BST / 6pm CET
The article about it on the community site is not yet life (probably slated for later today), but will be eventually found here:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/05/17/skulls-2023-returns-next-week-with-rahul-kohli-as-host/

It'll be interesting to see if they actually show off anything for Space Marine 2 this year or if they pull off just some developer commentary over the existing trailer again.

It's weird, you do have to wonder how much of the "gameplay" footage from the trailer over a year ago was just made for the trailer and it was a long way from playable, as it seems like they would have done some kind of follow-up if it was real.

Ah, the old E3 switcheroo Happens all the time in the videogame industry, to the point that they now have 'actual gameplay footage' in the corners if they're not scamming for once
There were some theories that there are a lot of as-of-yet-unreleased jumppack Primaris designs in the game, that they'll only unveil once they show the models...

Well, the information was in a short video anyway... everything relevant is in the OP, it was only a 50 second clip, of which about 15 were just logos. And some dude i've never heard about is going to be the presenter, if that is of any interest to you at all - one Rahul Kohli, who could be world-famous, idk

He's an actor who's into 40k, voices the Space marine in Boltgun (hence the relevance to the promo)

I see - his Wikipedia article is pretty barebones and only mentions some small roles in various TV series, so i did not see the relevance. Anyway, i guess that the information will be re-released soon, looks like it was slated for later today, but definitely this week at the latest.

Is he? I think he's rather better known (relatively speaking) for his roles in Midnight Mass and iZombie. Maybe not household titles by any stretch but they're hardly obscure.

Oh, right. Skulls is the renamed annual computer game sale.

When people say 'skullz', I think of the old promo program where you could trade in for paint sets, carry cases and limited edition models.

It was what I thought it was when I saw it too. Didn't that have a unique Standard Bearer for 3rd Edition Space Marines as the top tier reward?

Top billing goes to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, which launches on May 23rd on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, alongside Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Total War: Warhammer III, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. There’s also some exciting news coming from Frontier Developments, and plenty more besides!

Probable option: another Chaos Gate expansion or title

Most fun option: Ork Squig Zoo Tycoon

Dream option: Elite Dangerous-like space fighter game based on BFG

A licensed squig-themed DLC for Planet Zoo? I'd at least give it a look.

Oh great, now GW is getting mobbed on twitter by people that claim things about alleged Kremlin funding of some of the computer game developers GW is working with:

e.g.:

In 2023 Games Workshop plans to release two AAA-games in Warhammer40k setting:
1. Space Marine 2, made in Russia by @SaberGames
, published by genocide supporters @Focus_entmt

2. Rogue Trader, made in Russia by kremlin-funded Owlcat

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND BOYCOTT THESE GAMES

Source: https://twitter.com/SiegeOfTerra/status/1614583199136350209

Many more (mostly copy&pasted or retweets of the above) as answers to this:

https://twitter.com/warhammer/status/1659937174966419457

I have no idea if these allegiations are true, but it seems a bit reaching - both these companies have offices in tax havens, and Sabre has studios in Sankt Petersburg and Minsk, i.e. in Russia and Belarus, but that can mean a lot of things and does not directly imply anything beyond that fact.

If these online 'activists' keep it up or manage to mobilize some more people, the Twitch event will be interesting to watch for sure... spamming something like that to a total halt is in the realm of possibility for a dedicated enough 'army'.

I liked Rahul as the Muslim sheriff in a majority Catholic town in Midnight Mass.

As for the games themselves, I bought the boomer shooter. Looking forward to playing it.

More than just that, but yeah.

A quick search of 'Owlcat Ukraine' turns up multinational offices and actual Ukrainian employees, so... yeah. Twit(ter) outrage that has nothing to do with facts, and could do more harm than good if it costs people jobs.

Not that a small RPG developer could move a lot of 'russian funding' in either direction in the first place...

Really tepid so far, just trailers:

Speed freaks (low rez ork vehicle battler)
A chaos 'legendary hero' for TW3 that they seem to have made up on the spot (vaguely based on Harry the Hammerer, I guess, but completely different)
lizards for BB3
some expansion pack for a HH cardgame
some mobile game.

voice guy talking about Boltgun.
