Thanks for the detailed analysis. It's pretty much what I figured; My CSM more or less stayed the same. I tend to run termie heavy, so the hits on transports for my troops is offset by my termies not being afraid of CC as much. Specially my Khornate chainfist squad!
Orks being my other army, glad that MANz are now viable in a big way. hopefully the rumored plastic box comes out soon. Dakkajet just got even more silly, and since the hits I roll with my lootas tend to only ever be 6's, being able to move them around helps a bit. My kan wall lists took a "bit" of a hit. 2hp is kinda offset by no longer being wrecked on a 4+ pen hit.
Also, I LOVE the rulebook overall. I love all the fortification rules, the building rules, and the dynamic battlefields. Me and my buddies are definitely the fluffy-every-game-has-a-story types. Very rarely did we ever roll for deployment or mission type.

Can you explain what you mean about "transports being nerfed" ? I've finally got enough Chimera kits amassed to give my Guard a "static gunline blob" element as well as some mobility. I'd like to be able to have a sacrificial flank and a mechanized scoring flank.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ..as for the "Look out Sir" rule, for Guard officers anyways, you could always use their bodyguards or CC members to absorb their wounds, I see it as just an extra reroll no?

GW made a mistake, and did not allocate enough Hull Points to vehicles. They all need to be upped by 1-2 HPs. There's too many things out there that can glance a vehicle to death in a single round of fire. Vehicles are TOAST. YakFace ran a Kan gunline and got erased against a not-very-shooty-army.
This has to be FAQ'd.
..as for the "Look out Sir" rule, for Guard officers anyways, you could always use their bodyguards or CC members to absorb their wounds, I see it as just an extra reroll no?
According to the FAQ, bodyguards in an IG command platoon enable you to auto-pass the LOS rule, as long as the wound is assigned to the Bodyguard.
The "Look out, Sir!" rule is the game-breaker in 6th edition, and they WILL have to FAQ it.

The LOS seems like it is more in line with Necromunda gameplay from what I've read...25% of the body, head, arms, and legs, wings and other appendages don't count.

LOS, in this case, means "Look out, Sir."
I will give an example.
You have a Death star. This unit is based around an Independent Character (IC). Since ICs that join a unit are now part of the unit (no more 'fighting as a separate unit), you can do things with them, etc. Your Deathstar follows the new TEQ (Terminator Equivalent) metagame, and have an armour save of 2+/++ In this case, the invulnerable save is irrelevant.
Due to the 'wound closest models first, and you can't move to another model until you take down the closest model' rule, and LOS, you put your IC UP FRONT. He takes all the wounds. All of them. He saves on a 2+, and since he's an IC, he HANDS OFF THE ONE IN SIX UNSAVED WOUNDS...on a 2+.
This means there is a one in 36 chance he's going to take a wound. And you have to roll EACH wound separately, due to the LOS rule. So, if I throw 20 wounds on the Deathstar, we have to roll EACH WOUND ONE AT A TIME. "Does not wound, does not wound, does not wound, wounds, I take my LOS roll and it transfers, does not wound, does not wound..."
It is just obscene.
An easy fix has already been suggested, and that's to declare any LOS attempts BEFORE you make your saving throws. Then you can still roll groups of dice, allocate wounds, and roll them.

Well.... and I'm going to be cheeky here... that's not how LOS works. You have to "pass on" the wound before the saves are made, at the wound allocation stage. Not after the saving throw is failed. That's very clearly stated in the description of the rule.

Not cheeky, open discussion of rules is important.
Check out page 16, Gits. The issue is that on page 16, it says "or unsaved wound", thus after the save is failed. Now, in the entry for assault, it does NOT say that. So, we have a classic GW problem.

It depends on which writing of the LOS rule is correct... by the earlier description of the rule... no, by the later description of the rule, yes. Right now it's 50/50 until it's FAQ'd. And how are you getting a mega armored Nob in with a bunch of boys? Are they now an IC or an upgrade? (haven't gotten that far in the book)

If you add a nob to a mob of Boyz, then you have to do that new funny math to figure out that the Nob is worthless because it uses the majority stats in the open, discarding the Nob's modifiers

Thanks, folks!
I have a couple of nice things going, here. I have the start of a casual play group for 40K 6th edition. I'm learning to spraypaint, thanks to my friend Galorn.
I need to pick up some better 'bulk' paints, spraypainting with ANY small bottle paint is a serious waste of money, on the scale of the Ordinatus.
FYI: Citadel paints thin down to airbrush level at about 2 parts paint to one part water. Of course, this is a NEW bottle, and hasn't had a chance to dry out yet. YMMV. Remember, consistency of 2% milk.
