Thanks for all the good wishes. Unfortunately I didn't get the job but I was the only external candidate to get an interview and immediately applied to another firm for the same job on the same project at the same higher rate so hopefully that'll go slightly better.

Due to the overtime I've been neglecting blogging for most of the month but not painting so we'll start with Epic Bloodletters and Looters

Frostgrave has also received some minions and I have high hopes of Ghost Archipelago inspiring more random modelling and painting fun maybe even some gaming....
Skeleton

Hound

Treasure Hunter

Arab with Hand Gonne

Barbaric Templar

Monk

I'm less interested in Heritors than Wizards but the new setting sounds fun and hopefully their balanced enough to play across games as well as internally sort of like 40k Roleplay. It also has Dinosaurs!

These are what I've got done this week.

Dungeon Furniture from Mantic

The Ulterior Motives cards need some extra scenery so Im going to get started making it hopefully before Ghost Archipelago adds a whole load of objectives.

A basic Skeleton

Red Cap Rodney

and Amalthea

All of these will be good for Frostgrave

So read the new Frostgrave book tthis morning. My thoughts are as follows;
1 As much a supplement for Frostgrave as a seperate book.
2 This is a good thing
Both books work on the same engine this means you can use the critters in both games with neutral basing and they are valid opponents, scenarios and items are different but interchangeable and interestingly and crucially Wizard vs Heritor is probably balancedish and I certainly would play it. Heritors get fewer more powerful ablities but crucially and the balancing factor can't suffer from a Critical Hit and start off on far more Health. The key problem is the greater flexibility of a Frostgrave warband which can be dealt with by using the same warband system as an Heritor in Frostgrave would be able to visit the hiring tavern if in Felstad while a Wizard would have to return to the mainland in The Ghost Archipelago. Looking through the Bestiary most of its coming from Reaper Bones IV.........

Sticking with the theme a Foulhorn

Described in the Folio a four limbed sword armed horned fiend made from GW Beastmen, Ghoul and Spawn components.

Arab Templar not the best photograph but definitely showcases how flexible the Fireforge Russian/Scandinavian models are. I have made roughly a half dozen seperate different racial and equipment types from Fantasy cultists to barbarians with reasonable looking Arabs as well.

Dungeon Saga Undead as well

Conans also arrived lots of miniatures but glad I got a King Edition the different poses will make painting and working with the models far more entertaining. Defintely earmarked for Junglegrave!

Books or models? The books will be worth your while and a lot of the models are excellent and very nice as well. Equally part of the fun with Frostgrave is using it as an excuse to dust of old miniatures and use them for new games. The Frostgrave bestiary is one of my favourite excuses to buy and paint new models by a long way however.

We'll start with an Imp

Guilds of Cadwallon playing piece

Wraith from CP models given a weapon swap. Nice and chunky excellent value for such a hunk of lead.

Throne from Dungeon Saga. Tried for a marble effect still like what I ended up with.

Zombicide Witch converted to an Apothecary.

Now I've decided Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago is a major mouthful so I'll generally refer to it as Junglegrave.

Spider from Copplestone Castings.

Antha from Zombicide painted up as a Wave Warden unfortunately she suffered from flat face syndrome still like the model however.

Finally I've begun to paint up Massive Darkness.

3 Troglodytes with some modifications so they won't all look the same. Just simple weapon and head swaps. I try and do it with most of my board game rank and file as it amuses me.

Honestly what expense? Frostgrave is a cheap game to get into my original set was literally created by clearing out my bitz box and for Frostgrave £40 will get you your first hit (rulebook and a box of soldiers is all you need) or just use an old Mordheim warband. Fantasy skirmish has also got a lot cheaper with the big board games kickstarters which provide literally dozens of opportunities. The problem is it does get rather morish and completionist like everything else in wargaming......

First Massive Darkness monster completed

The Iron Golem also oddly enough suitable for a Large Construct in Frostgrave one of the key entries I was missing.

Two Mantic monsters done

Skellie

Gargoyle

and three heroes to fight them

Arab Herdsman armed as a Trackerand an alliterative Frostgrave duo.
Thundergut

Tucker

I've still got quite a few Zombicide bits and bobs to go but I'm getting there maybe not by the end of the challenge but hopefully sometime early next year. I've also sailed well over the 400 mark for models completed this year something I'm delighted by.

Yep pretty much got an army already with the Undead from Conan and Zombicide as well as Reaper Bones IV. Cavalry's most of what I lack.

E Platoon 28th Company 232nd Hrin Infantry

Vehicle Recovery vehicles from Scotia Grendel based on the same Samil trucks. Ages since I added to this army.

Revenant

Getting ahead before the horde arrives.

Imp

Based on Mikey from Monsters Inc

Xuxa

The Unpronounceable from Zombicide

My Mantic stuff arrived recently so I have a lot of Skeletons and at £4 a pop picked up one of each of the Loka sets. Why you ask? £4 for 16 models 0.25p a pop got to be something useful in there right? We'll see.....

Kings first

Roughly man size. Undead Lord on Throne and Daemon on throne are 4 very useful pieces for Frostgrave.

Queens next

2 useful Daemons, a Tree woman and an Angel all useful.

Bishops next

Wizards nifty the Liche is especially nice.

Knights

Also useful the Centaurs good rank and file with the Dragon Horse and little Hippogriff being interesting as well

Rooks

Elementals perfect for Frostgrave all exceptionally useful

Pawns

Dwarfs are a bit meh but Skellies are always good and the two cultist types both intrigue.

£4 per set well spent although the plastic might be a bit problematic to work with.

New models first Templar and Tracker for Frostgrave

and now the retrospective.

2017 for me has been dominated by two things my personal 365 challenge and AzazelX's League of Gamers both have meant I have been continuously painting and have indeed finished over 450 models this year.

So we'll start with 6mm.

Epic Orks-still finishing of some stuff for this and I'll continue to do so but no purchases whatsoever planned.
Epic Chaos-still painting these guys and dang the new stuff from Vanguard has almost swayed me into an order......
Army Group 37158-waiting for the CAV 2 kickstarter to arrive and these need painting and assembly work done.
Fantasy- Undead and Lizardmen still to finish prepping 6mm infantry is not my favourite thing to do in the whole world. I should consider rebasing for Warmaster.
Space Ships-Painting possibly for the next League of Gamers challenge

Science Fiction
40k-8th's played heavily at the club but its 2000pt tournament style not my preferred method and frankly the cost is prohibitive when you compare what the money will buy you for fantasy or historicals these days.
Antares/15mm-Loooks tempting not currently played at the club but Bolt Action is and the value is there but Sci-Fi suffers from the models being one game only which puts me off, 15mm is more generic and has the definite attraction of more realistic range distances for 20th c or later skirmishes than 28mm so I'm seriously considering it but it requires opponents.

Fantasy
Undead-Newest project have a lot of characters and various foot troop types through Zombicide and Frost Grave as well as the Skellie deal. I've also got a bunch of monsters coming with Reaper Bones IV in a couple of years time this means theres no rush at all. I would like some Cavalry and haven't decided whether to buy Mantic or GW for that and will actuallly put it off for a while.I've also got to work out how to represent the Orc Zombies in KoW.......
Frostgrave- I'm going to try and organise a campaign in the new year. It'll probably be vanilla frostgrave as it means new models aren.t necessary. I'm beginning to make terrain for Ghost Archipelago however I'll hold of until Bones IV arrives on the Bestiary as an awful lot of it is in there. I'll also carry on adding supplements as I like the fact that the Bestiary gives me some structure to collect to.
Board Games-Rebasing them to square bases is a pain however as I wan't to use them with fantasy armies on square bases I will presevere. I will also focus my rebasing on 1 or 2 games at a time as it will get me results faster and a far mor satisfying stream of progress. I'll finish painting Zombicide and I'll use the Frostgrave-Warband-Game route to get me using the models which makes me more enthusiastic about painting them leading to a finished result quicker. I am however due a deluge of these.......

Kickstarter
Mythic Battles Pantheon (January)-Will be exanded into a Greek Army sometime next year with Victrix models
Rising Sun (1st Quarter)-Skirmish Games especially Ghost Archipelago
Zombicide Green Horde (1st Quarter & June)-Skirmish Games combine with Black Plague core game should arrive at the same time as Rising Sun
Village Attacks (March)-Skirmish Games
CAV 2(Overdue)-Mechs and the Army Group
Bones IV (January 2019)-Frostgrave
Joan of Arc-(December 2018)-Pledge Manager is earmarked to be expensive and is where most of my funds are going in the New Year.

As you can see I'll be gaining lots of new toys next year without spending more money and so I'll focus on that for the foreseeable future at least until Salute.
