Thanks! Yes the titan is also around 6-8mm scale as well. I wasn't really sure exactly how big to print it but it is around the size of a Reaver which seemed appropriate to me. The train is only getting bigger as I print more track and carriages for it

I've been working on painting up the titan as it seemed like a good test subject for trying out some paint schemes . I have to say that I have noticed a significant dip in my painting skills as I am incredibly rusty at this point. While my lack of a decent paint selection is partly to blame, I definitely need to challenge myself more.

Regardless, I have started trying out a blue colour scheme on the Punisher Titan and am experimenting with some blue pigment powder that I have had lying around in my paint stash since around 2005!

I still have to work on the yellow plasma coils and grey armour panels, not sure if I should try a checkerboard pattern or not, could potentially look very bad on those curved pieces..

Finally put the finishing touches on the Punisher Titan, it ended up looking pretty good in the end. I didn't go too crazy on the detailing but I managed to completely hide any little areas that had printed badly as battle damage and the overall design now looks pretty badass!

Now all I need to do is procure (or print) a base that will fit this monster. i was planning on using a Warlord sized one but it turned out to be waaay too small. There should be plenty of empty space though so I will have to get creative and build a whole mini diorama under its feet...

Maybe time to paint the train next? I have some more track and another carriage printed so it is looking pretty good now!

Thanks fellas! Now you have me tempted to make an actual tripod from War of the Worlds, I loved reading that book and there was a great musical that I still listen to while painting some days.

I've been a little busy with the job lately as the more intense our covid restrictions get, that more I end up having to work but I did manage to get a few bits printed up while I was out.

First off, I found some files to supplement my Warlord, namely a control tower and old school missile pod. Looks a little weird without any of the armour panels but I think it'll look great all built up!

I have also begun the mammoth task of printing an entire Imperator Titan, the feet are massive and it will only get bigger as I continue to churn out bits.

I am currently printing out the bastion legs, fingers crossed that they turn out looking good!

Thanks! Its going to look so good all painted up.

The good thing about 3D printing is that it doesn't matter if you work 50 hours per week, you can still get a big project done as long as you remember to keep is printing away during the day.

As such, the behemoth is completely printed up and now just awaiting the large task of getting it built. This thing is incredibly heavy, the torso and all its toppings for lack of a better word will put incredible strain on the waist so pinning will absolutely be necessary.

But enough griping, behold, a fully 3D printed Emperor Class Titan!

Even in 40k scale, this thing towers over everything. Even my Magnus (who I'm totally gonna paint soon) is looking shocked at the size of the thing.

And in Titanicus scale, well. It is just straigh up massive. The warlord next to it seems puny in comparison...

You might be wondering why the weapons are in a transparent blue resin and that is because printing up the torso consumed such a large amount of my preferred grey resin that I had to break out my emergency stash! The blue stuff doesnt print nearly as well and has a few imperfections but they are all located on the underside of the guns so won't be visible.

The cathedral on top had a really bad misprint as it was the first part I printed up and didn't realize that I needed to replace a component on the printer as it had been damaged. However, the resulting gap in resin looks like a really cool plasma blast hit it and also opened up a section in the cathedral so I think I will capitalize on it and paint it up as damage and use plasticard to make some floor sections so you can actually see inside the titan itself.

Once I get the time to properly assemble the model, I will take a lot more pictures of it but I first need to scrounge up a small drill and some brass rod to I can make it as stable as possible.

Thanks for stopping by!

He looks great. The problem I have with 3d Printing is that there is too much for me to print , combine that with my change of plans at a whimsie and nothing gets done even with two printers.

Did you print the Warlord Hollow? if not, that could have saved you some resin and some weight. He looks great though.

Also love how you have him set up there, looks like you need some scale boxers around it's ankles because he's sitting on the toilet and Magnus is in the next stall asking for toilet paper

Oh I know, there are so many incredible designs floating around that I want to print up! I still need to get around to designing some stuff myself, I'd really like to try having a go at designing some new knight and titan patterns at some point in the future.

Anvildude wrote:Oh god, I hope that wasn't printed solid. That's be insane.

Oh goodness no! He'd be busting through my table if he was solid haha

Malika2 wrote:How is your Eldar Knight project going along?

Trying to stick with just a couple of projects at one time haha, Eldar are definitely on the backburner for now. At some point I will return to them and hopefully assemble a nice little force, what with GW plastics, Vanguard metals, and some 3D files I've been eyeing up, it could end up being pretty cool indeed.

I decided to see how much stuff I had actually gathered with regards to Titanicus stuff thus far, turns out it's quite a bit! At the moment I am working on building more terrain from both the plastic terrain kits from Troublemaker Games and 3D files from Grimdark terrain. With the plastic kits, I am trying to make them as versatile as possible by making them in small sections so that the are easier to store while also allowing me to rearrange them as I see fit.

I would also like to try and make a display piece/photo booth for snapping some good pictures of any finished models as opposed to putting them on a ping pong table. Might need to pick up some pink foam and whip up something interesting..

The 3D printer has been churning out a few misprints lately so I will have to do a little troubleshooting before I can finish a few bits I am working on like the air control tower. Fortunately I now have plenty of warped pieces to scatter across some of the larger bases!

I was gone from the hobby for about 3 years, and in that time 3D technology has evolved beyond my comprehension. My 2018 brain is trying to catch up. The quality of that print is nearly incredulous. I know you did that at your house on your equipment, but I'm struggling to accept the concept. I imagine my reaction to this is similar to how I would have reacted to flint and tinder fire 1 million year ago.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful work. Looking forward to seeing the next steps.

Thanks Stalk! Yeah 3D printing has come so far in the last few years, I am still amazed at every piece that comes out of my printer, the detail that they can achieve now is something special indeed.

Highly recommend getting one, they're a lot more user friendly now and open up so many hobby possibilities!

While it's not really worth taking a picture of, I did get a huge chunk of terrain spray painted so I should be able to get a few of them painted up soon!

Got a few bits of terrain finally painted up!

I settled on a dark brass colour for the building panels as it is a very subtle colour and will match really well with the ashen earth colour I wanted to base my models with.

I ended up taking weathering inspiration from a bronze coin I had on my desk. The key seemed to be avoiding using any gold or brighter metallics to highlight as I would normally do. Instead, I went with a dark brown wash in the recesses and some sponge weathering with a 50/50 bronze and green mix, followed by straight green to pick out some details.

This resulted in a colour that I was pretty happy with and most imortantly, one that I could do quickly and effortlessly as I have a gigantic number of panels to paint!

My biggest challenge by far was the windows. A simple 1x1 building has 32 of the things! Painting glass is hard at the best of times and I will probably end up having to do around 2000 of them. As such, I cheated a bit and carefully painted each one with a slightly watered down grey, this allows some of the bronze colour to pass through and gives them a little variety. I then grabbed a blue micron pen and drew lines on each to represent a glare from the glass. I highly recommend picking one of the pens up, a black one is perfect for doing quick purity seals and all kinds of writing on minis.

I also added some little patches of greenery to the roof tiles to make them look a bit more interesting and add some variety. The red roots that I initially wanted to go for did not work very well and looked very fake.

As you can see, the buildings are fully modular and can be rearranged in lots of ways. Makes it great for storage and keeping the board nice and fresh!

As if the pile of terrain I already have wasn't enough, I also bought a few spire kits from Troublemaker Games' recent kickstarter to add on top of my current stuff. Now the challenge is to get everything built and painted before they arrive...

The buildings are excellent and really give that "Imperial world" scale to it. Even the most massive Titan would be minuscule compared to an average Administorum building.

Do you have a pattern for spire tops? Something for that extra Gothic look?

Thanks! Yeah the buildings are going to tower over everything when they are all finally built and painted. Not sure about the spires yet, once they arrice I should have a better idea of how I can incorporate them into the current build!

It has been a quiet day at work today so I decided to try my hand at a bit of digital sculpting. I decided to try doing a new imperial knight torso and it is coming along fairly nicely. I am using SketchUp which is proving to have a bit of a learning curve especially when it comes to more organic shapes. That being said I have managed to make the basic shape of the knight and now I just need to get up nice and close and add some more details.

Apologies for being gone so long! I have been very busy with work and life stuff but I have been doing a little bit of hobbying whenever I get the chance.

I actually painted a couple of titans, one Warhound and one Warlord. Tried to go a nice grimdark paint scheme that turned out pretty decent.

The Warlord still needs a bit of work and some detailing as the simple blocks of colour don't really work as well given it's size. Still, it is much better than being a grey bit of plastic...

I'll snap a few more pics once I consider it properly finished.

Finally getting a nice collection of colourful models though!

That being said... There's still a handful more that need some paint.

Oh. And a little airforce to paint up as well!

As of right now, the unpainted army is going to kick the painted guys' butts. Hopefully that will change one of these days!

I would like to get a lot of the terrain finished next I think. Just had a few more tower bits arrive to add to the terrain I currently have so I might build them up and then get down to painting up some big batches of them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks KK! Yeah the imperator is a thing of beauty. I still have to make a base for the big guy since he really wants to fall over at the moment.

I decided to try making a little diorama of sorts that I can use to photograph the majority of my titanicus models. Basically it is going to be a section of street with a high-rise building in the background. Should make taking some decent pictures a lot easier in the future.

I started off by coming up with a good road system that would be big enough for anything around the size of a Reaver.

Then set to work on the back wall. I decided I wanted a ridiculously steep and tall staircase that went up the entire first panel of walls. In my mind this is an administration building and only those who can walk up the 100's of steps will be seen to. Hopefully I have enough plasticard for the job!

Next up was the second floor, complete with giant doorway. This is a rough mockup of how it will look with streetlamps and eventually more smaller scatter terrain to make it come to life.

And just to give a sense of scale, here it is with a knight and warhound.

Still to come is the third floor if I decide to do one. I think it would be good to have some super small balconies with people standing on them to really emphasise the scale.

Any other suggestions on what to add/change? I'm all ears!

Happy New Year all!

I figured now would be a good time to look at my entire collection and figure out what I currently own and what I have to get built and painted to reduce the size of the pile of shame.

For my Titanicus army, the list stands as follows:

Painted

3 Titans

6 Knights

Unpainted

8 Titans

19 Knights

12 Aircraft

1 Ordinatus

Various Terrain

Clearly I need to stop building and printing more models and actually slap some paint on them!

As for my Thousand Sons army, I recently picked up the Age of Darkness box set which added a massive new influx of troops. Here is the list so far...

Painted

3 HQ

105 Infantry

30 Terminators

5 Dreadnoughts

5 Jetbike/Speeders

10 Bikes

3 Tanks

1 Drop Pod

1 Aircraft

Unpainted

9 HQ

110 Infantry

25 Terminators

3 Dreadnoughts

3 Tanks

Not everything is pictured at the moment as I still have a good chunk of the AoD set to build, plus I am printing a lot of accesories for them which takes a little time.

The good news is that I am now the proud owner of an airbrush. It will likely take a little while to get comfortable with it but I am hoping that once I get the basics down, I can really speed up the painting process and start churning out some well painted models!

More shelves are definitely needed! I keep finding more models kicking around that need a place to be displayed haha.

I've all but finished building the mass of models from the Age of Darkness box. Everything was a joy to build (except for the Praetor's capes). I just have 5 terminators left, just waiting for some inspiration on how to make them look unique.

I did a lot of 3D printing to pump out some unique looking heads, shoulderpads, and guns which should make painting them all a little more interesting.

The contemptor got a fancy new head and donated his missile launcher to the monopose dreadnought I already owned.

A resin Deredeo Dreadnought finally got put together as I had lost his foot for the longest time!

The Spartan got a custom model up top. I might print up some Thousand Sons emblems to slap on the sides at some point, saves me having to do some tricky freehand work.

I made and assault squad with some fancy jetpacks which seemed to fit Corvus armour the best.

Then just your basic tactical squad

I build one set of the terminators with lightning claws, not sure if I really like them though. Thoughts on how I could spice them up a little?

Then we have a tankbuster squad of lascannon toting marines

The Praetors got a little bit of converting done to them, just a simple headswap and some parts from the TSons Sorcerer kit but they already looked fantastic straight out of the box

I printed up a set of recon marines, not sure how well they show up on camera as the resin I used is very pale.

And last but not least. I wanted to have a little fun with my last tactical squad and came up with a little backstory that they were the competition sharpshooters from the legion, all competing to see which boltgun was superior. As such they have every different pattern of bolter I could scrounge up, complete with all manner of attachments to help them win whatever prize they were competing for (probably a fast food giftcard or something)

I then made the unwise decision to put all my unpainted marines next to each other. Seems like they are currently evenly matched against all my painted models. I have some work to do!

All the pics are a little small but they can be zoomed in quite a bit in the gallery, just give the image a click!

Next up, I'm going to build up the last 5 terminators and maybe look at turning some corrupted deathguard into posessed for my army. Could be tricky but I did just get a dremel, perfect for chopping of most of the gross slimy bits...

Thanks! Owning a printer has really opened up a lot of possibilities, there are some very skilled digital sculptors these days.

I finally got all the bits to operate my airbrush and wow, it really takes the tedium out of basecoating. In just a few hours I got all the metals and armour panels done up on pretty much my entire Titanicus collection! For all the knights, I settled on two pretty bold colours which I liked the look of. The yellow ones actually got an airbrushed wash as well for some quick and dirty shadows.

I also used a slightly miscast landing pad as my first test piece, other than adding some brass detailing and rust, I painted the whole thing with the airbrush and finished it up in just 20 minutes or so.

Excited to get a little more skilled using this new piece of kit. It will certainly come in handy considering I have nearly 200 unpainted space marines waiting for some love!
