Got my Telemon Dreadnought done while I was slinging gold paint on everything too.

He's being attended by random Bones figures. I was expecting him to be bigger honestly. Not that he's very little, and he's on a 100mm base as it is. It doens't help that the Redemptor dred is almost the same size, if not bigger.

I really need to redo his shoulder pads. I was SLOPPY. I tried to dirty his feet up too but it isn't as noticeable in the picture.

Finished up that Vampire boss while I was at it. Just realized I didn't bother doing his base yet. Whoops.

Kicking out a Bones figure I decided to paint recently as well. Kinda got a lot of 'em... and this guy wasn't even a Kickstarter acquisition.

This guy was a recent purchase as well, further neglecting the box of multiple Kickstarters worth of Bones figures.

I wanted to do his outfit up like a Zulu warrior, but it's not like he's wearing much to begin with. Maybe I should get some of those other animal avatars and do them up all similar.

Some day...

Spent some time trying to clear out some unpainted Kingdom D
eath models.

Considering I've had the game how long now, I finally took the plunge and started building the armor kits. They'll be showing up soon...

In the meantime, here's the Green Dragon Knight Armors.

Also slopped my way through a Sunstalker Miko.

And tried to do an acceptable job on the Easter Twilight Knight.

Currently acquired a rather large Khador army that we're going to have to get started on, and also got a fair amount of Circle Oroboros figures I planned to use for Paleo Diet.

To continue with the Kingdom Death theme, I actually put together the Rawhide armor kits and started painting them.

The 4th one wasn't handy but he's about as far along as the others, which is to say there isn't very much progress yet.

I also primed a rather large pile of Necron characters, and have started actually getting some paint on a few.

Nemesor and Vargard, both still pretty early on. At least the base colors are in place for the most part. The whites and greens need a lot of work, and the silvers need to be a bit more shiny. They'll get there.

In terms of actually finishing stuff, I didn't get a whole lot done this week, except for this random Celtos lady I picked up a few weeks back.

Our local store had discovered a sizable stockpile of Celtos figures, so I did my part and started randomly buying interesting looking ones. She's the 3rd one I think I've finished? Maybe 4th? There's definitely more that I've started and done nothing else with since, so maybe I'll get those completed in the future.

Most of my week was spent working on these guys though-

With the new Khador Man O War units coming soon, I figured it was time to return to the Motherland and paint some Khador stuff in preparation. Problem was I sold the overwhelming bulk of my Khador collection- except for the Greylords, which was pretty random. I've got these guys and their Sergeant, a Kovnik, Mechanik officer, and some Demolition troops waiting to get painted up.

I'm debating about trying one of the laternate Khador schemes on one of the other Man O War squads. Which would be better in their olive colors? The bombardiers with their chainsaw cannons or the demo guys with the ice hammers?

You're making some crazy assumptions, thinking I've actually gotten around to playing the game yet, despite kickstarting it all those years ago!

Nah, for my first run through of kits, I'm going to build them all vanilla and with gear on the corresponding sprue.

After that I'm going bonkers and kit bashing the whole lot. Most armor kits I've got at least 2 or 3 sets of, so it'll be a while...

At least once I've got the Phoenix painted and maybe a few more early armor kits done, we'll get around to actually playing. Maybe once we get back from japan this summer.

LOL, got it!

We didn't start playing until this year. We've done some White Lion hunts, and are building some Rawhide and White Lion armors, but can also hunt the Antelope. Butcher is coming up soon.

I'm excited for the GC.

Finished the first of my Rawhide armor sets.

They're joined by a friend from the Lowlife miniatures line. I don't know if I ever posted him. Blame Barzam for that guy.

Finished up another Celtos figure, along with a metal Atlantean from Mierce. I'm happy with the size and proportions of the Atlantean. It bodes well for Mierce's future human figures. Hopefully their warriors of Balor match more of the current figures on the market in terms of size.

Two more random Bones figures I finished up. I'd started them a while back, and then did nothing with them.

I started painting some of the figures from Street Masters: The Rise of the Kingdom. It's a board game beat 'em up in the vein of Streets of Rage and Final Fight. There's some interesting mechanics at play along with some interesting homages. It's not often you see Fung Wan references in the West. The Ryu wannabe ended up looking more like Toriko than what I'd planned on, but that's the color scheme they have him in. Before anyone says it's Goku colors, the artwork is a lot lighter, and one of the female fighters uses Goku's colors more obviously.

These guys are a bit smaller than what I'd hoped for, but that may be from painting a lot of Kingdom Death lately.

I started trying to speed paint the bad guy grunts for the game, so hopefully I'll have them finished this week. There's a lot though, and I started painting some of my Khador Man- O- War hero units...

The Celtos dwarf pushes so many buttons. Lots of red on some, gold and green on others (but no red, gold and green mini). They look great.

Is Street Masters out yet? I would have pledged for that except I didn't really believe the project would ever reach a successful completion... Oh well, soon time to play some Let's Fighting Love.

I was a bit worried about Street Masters ever coming to fruition as well. My hope is to get it to the table this weekend with a completely painted cadre of villainous mooks to take out.

We'll have to give it a spin when we're back from Japan (and hopefully have more time).

Of course, if the Inquisitor is willing to throw down at Shadespire with us, we could do that as well. Didn't you pick up some naked dwarfs?

I did pick up some naked dwarfs, and kept them naked. I'd live to play either game or both. I can't guarantee I won't make that annoying Final Fight "hnyah!" noise every time I roll a hit, though.

I really enjoy seeing your minis all painted up (and Barzam's), so I feel a little bad playing with unpainted minis. But just a little.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Slathered up some Street Masters triad mooks.

"COME AT ME BRO"

I couldn't resist the frog mage with his Totall Recall- esque twin brother growing out of his belly. Hard to see currently, but he'll be painted soon enough.

Finished up a trio of Khador higher- ups.

A battle mechanik officer:

I really like this guy. I'll have to get some regular mechaniks to hang with him.

A Shocktrooper Sergeant:

Not super happy with the ice effects on his polearm, but it's serviceable.

And a Man O War Kovnik:

I tried freehanding the Khadorian symbol on his flag there. I built up his base a bit so he's actually standing upright. For whatever reason the model is weighed down by his axe so badly he's reeling backwards from it.

Off to paint some more Celtos now!

Didn't get much sleep last night, so what better way to be unproductive early in the morning than paint more stuff!

Worked my way through a handful of Celtos figures that got primed last weekend.

This dude is AWESOME. Who doesn't want to wear a boar skull for a helmet, a man thong, and poles with human skulls all over them while they brandish a knife as thick as their face and wave around a staff with a brass fertility goddess on top?

I have no idea what I'll use him for, but he'll show up on the table SOON.

A super angsty looking Celtos elf. That haircut and nipple rings are a bit ahead of his time- he totally would've fit in with the early 2000s indy crowd. His eyes and stuff are painted, but the lighting makes it look unfinished. His sword has a nice obsidian look to it in person but it comes out greenish in the photo, when I used blue. Odd. I kept thinking of Elric while I painted him.

Another Celtos figure. I like the antlers and giant sword. Very heroic looking. Especially the fanny pack on his wallet chain. I know there's a name for those things, maybe one of you could enlighten me?

I may go back and redo his kilt. Kind of boring. Or at least add some tartan stripes to it. I'm sure there's an off green colored clan out there somewhere.

A barefooted archer with a weird face who forgot to wear her clothes to the battle. She's got an ornamental headdress on at least! That'll help!

A super zoomed in view of a shield maiden who forgot to wear her clothes to the battle. This lady has some serious heroic proportions going on. Her hands (especially the shield one) are as big as her head. I did try and paint the shield, but the paint was a bit too watered down and ran all over, meaning I get to repaint it all. Hurray!

As I finish these guys up (there's another 3 or 4 primed, and just as many in my garage), I've also started on my next project, which is a Tharn warband from Hordes. I planned on using them as a caveman tribe in Paleo Diet, but with the new CID coming out this summer I believe for the Circle guys, what the hell, maybe I'll finally give Warmahordes another try. I've got enough Khador painted now to play a legit game.

My first subject is a Bloodweaver Night Witch. Bone blades, rags, animal skins... she's a perfect cave girl. She can hang with Barzam's amazons while she's at it.

Frustrating thing was looking at Privateer's page, the details on their model are so crisp. I couldn't see half the stuff on her belt/ waist area. The details weren't very sharp in that area. Her face as well. Maybe it was the primer? Not sure. She came out alright in the end.

Sporran?

Do !like these Celtos figures. Although, being me, I do want to chop them up and move them to a far future that's quite grim, and a little bit dark.

One thing I started doing on those rare occasions I touch a brush, is after priming, give a watered down wash of a brown or black wash, then maybe hit a light drybrush of white depending on how the wash has sat. Shows up details even if not totally crisp, and let's me start thinking about colour delineations.

I'm guessing those are sporran, but I'm used to seeing the typical furry ones that modern highland dress tends to incorporate. What do I know though?

I know I want to continue painting Khador troops, that's what I know!

Here's my Harkevich that's about 95% done. There's some things that need touching up, but I'm pleasantly content with how he's turning out so far. I had Harkevich painted up a few years ago, and sadly he was part of a Khadorian pogrom which resulted in almost all of my Khador and many Trollkin getting sold off on eBay and at local stores.

Harkevich was sorely missed. I always liked how he looked like a soldier equipped to actually do some soldiering. Provisions, bedroll, ammunition, telescope... dude looks like he means business. He's also the perfect adventurer type for a game of Iron Kingdoms or in something like Song of Blades & Heroes.

In remembrance of Harkevich the 1st, Harkevich the 2nd shall be a pretty close facsimile of my original's paint job.

FINALLY! This guy has been sitting in front of me for a few months now, unfinished and constantly nagging at me. I was unhappy with how he was shaping up, and I couldn't figure out how to add some depth to him. It finally dawned on me that I ought to try panel lining him like a Gundam. I got a super tiny brush and went to town! There's some spots that need work, but I'm just happy to have him out of the way! He still has no chapter insignia either...

Now what am I going to do with these Space Marines I've got?

Maybe fight some Necrons? I keep painting Necron heroes and characters, but I'm in the process of clearing most of them out. I've enjoyed playing them in small amounts but I'm not looking to purchase the big super expensive kits to play a bit more competitively. I may get rid of enough units that I have nothing but heroes and bits to make a Kill Team.

At least his robe's green parts look alright. I feel like I should do more with the brass, but I just don't know what.

If you have Nemesor, you get Obyron hanging out as well. Not super happy with the edges I did on his staff. Zandekh turned out better. At this point I don't care though. It's good enough table top quality.
Vargard Obyron here also needs his chest emblem finished. Looking at the photo I can't believe I didn't finish it!

My next job before we head to Japan is trying to finish the Dragonborn wizkid figures. Yuck. Why did I buy them? Maybe because I'm a sucker for reptiles? The molds are sloppy, the primer stuff obscures all the details... they've been a chore. They're going up on eBay when we get home in July, I'll tell you all that much...

Yeah, the Wizkids figures kind of suck. Their details are super soft and the primer is really spotty. One of my Beholders somehow had the primer dry with a big air bubble under it. How does that even happen? I've told you how one of my gnols has such soft details that his armor just kind of emerges from his skin.

Harkevitch looks really good. Maybe it's the pics, but I think he actually looks better than your first version.

The blacklining on that Apothecary looks great. It must have been a PITA with a brush, though. Do you think a Gundam marker would have done the job?

I was going to do it with a gundam pen, but Barzam advised not to, citing it would screw up the paint upon sealing the figure. It wasn't that bad.

This Harkevich DOES look better. I compared old photos to the guy in front of me. I'm still shading and highlighting some bits on his armor, but there's been a bit of improvement in my painting since then.

Damn do these Wizkid figures suck with details. I'll take Bones over them any day.

Here's my cheesy Dragonborn models from Wizkids.

For whatever reason some came out really glossy with the wash despite me doing them all at the same time.

The warrior types...

The paladin or knight types

Warrior or rogue types...

All in all, they're done. I can say that at least. That stupid primer stuff will flake and chip at the sligthest provocation. Really frustrating. Hopefully the sealant helps rectify that.

They're more than likely ending up on eBay when we get back from Japan though.

Two more Celtos guys. I think I really screwed up the woad on the spearman. May just repaint solid flesh on him. Undead dude came out alright. At least the Celtos stuff seems to have a pretty limited color palette to choose from.

I'm thinking next up is probably Tharn from Hordes, along with finishing up a bunch of Custodes that need completing. Jet bikes especially. A few more Necron heroes are hanging around waiting to get finished too.

T-MINUS FIVE DAYS UNTIL DEPARTURE. Time to get as much painting and modeling done as I can!

Went back and cleaned up that Celtos Spearman. Looks... better, I guess.

Also slapped some paint hurriedly on two more Street Masters heroes.

Good enough for a board game with soft details. At least I can differentiate them from afar. I may try to squeeze in a few more goons before we leave.

Wrapped up Chiron, a unique Skorne basilisk. I got him back in May of 2017 (I checked PP's website to make sure) at Brookhurst for the price of a regular basilisk on sale. Regular basilisks sit on 40mm bases and run about 14 or 15 dollars, but since the store was having a sale, this was discounted even further. Chiron here however is resin and is on a 50mm base. Price tag indicated regular basilisk prices. Asked the cashier to double check as I didn't want to rip off the store for their poor pricing ( 'cause I know karma'd pay me back) but nope, they said it's all good. So I left him unfinished for over a year in front of me. Awsome!

In case you're wondering what the building is in the background...

This is the Red Oak Distillery, which is from Warcradle's new lineup of Wild West Exodus terrain. It's MDF, and actually was the color of the renders, which I found surprising. No other mention of who manufactured or produced the kit. I liked the silhouette of the building, but it was a somewhat frustrating build. The tanks of alchohol did not go together well (with me breaking a lot of the rings that bind them together) and the instructions were horrible- all the parts have numbers and letters, but nowhere on the MDF boards are there any corresponding bits of info. The photos on the instructions were also super tiny and difficult to comprehend.

Another thing I was a bit disapointed about, and maybe it's just my copy, but a lot of the etched in details in the renders/ photos are missing from mine. Look at those pipes on the side of the building. The photos show all sorts of dials, rivets, and wires etched in to the sides of the building. That weird circle thing is supposed to be some sort of pressure gauge. The whole top portion of the wall under the roof seems to be completely lacking in detail as well.

Overall, not a bad little building, but the slant of the roof also will limit figures from climbing up there. Something I hope the other buildings rectify, as I have a few more to put together...

As previously mentioned, I'm back on a big Khador kick. With a three day weekend to myself I tried to wrap up a bunch of figures I recently acquired.

Dark Prince Vlad Tepe... I mean Prince Vladimir. After painting him I guess it's nice to have him, but I still think he's a bit skinny in this incarnation. I'd always hoped he got a Man O War epic upgrade, especially after seeing his list in the Forces of Distinction book.

The Ice Cream Obavnik herself, Koldun Kommander Zerkova. I may do the resculpt of her just for the heck of it some day down the road. I got a cheap upgraded model of her as well, so it'll be interesting to see if I can paint her up better than before. Plus I always liked her Reaver guards.

A Widowmaker Marksman. Pretty straightforward model. Turned out decent. Now if he still had a unit of widowmakers to hang out with...

A female Manhunter. I like her much better than my old male one. May try another male one just to see how it turns out, considering I painted that guy at least four years ago if not more.

Entering retread territory, I painted up a new Grigorovich. I may have the old one posted on Dakka still. Will have to check. Pleased with this one at least.

Plus a pair of Bones dwarfs I hadn't finished, because it would be amazing to actually finish painting all of those Bones figures I've got!

Next up? Tharns, Necrons, more Bones... and who knows what else?

T-MINUS THREE DAYS UNTIL DEPARTURE.

Last day of school, had my son's promotion to junior high, turning in my keys for the summer tomorrow... I can't believe another school year is finishing up!
Especially weird/ sad/ nostalgic as my boy's been at my hip for about the last seven years. Feels weird coming to school without him today (seeing as how I teach there and he sure as hell isn't going to get to play hooky under my watch).

Started my Lord Tyrant Zaadesh who showed up yesterday.

Got most of the basic red and gold work done. Most. Still a bit to do, and all the black fill in spots on his armor needs to be dealt with. He'll be done before I leave, I'm sure of it.

Some male Tharn personalities to cohabitate with Barzam's, in various states of painting. I hope to have them done before Saturday. From left to right is a Chieftain, a Whitemane, and a Shaman.

Zaadesh is done at least. Would've liked to have gotten more painted since I got done with work early yesterday, but a ten minute meeting with the principal turned into a near two hour gripe session that I had to mediate.

I actually got all that gold trim done and proper on him. My feelings towards the Skorne seem to constantly waver between love and hate. I like their armor and warbeast designs, but I can't stand their derpy bald heads or trying to paint their armor with a sucky brush.

I also can't stand what a pain some of their models can be when it comes to trying to transport them, well, anywhere. They've just got too many bits some times all over their kit.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

That Zadash model is pretty cool, but what's up with the wonky axe thing on his back?

A lot of the Skorne have them- they're like the sashimono banners that samurai wore, which seems to be the style Privateer are going for with the Skorne- desert samurai orcs.

Zaadesh is just far more blingy and fabulous than his peers, that's all.
