On Twitter it was announced that John Blanche is retiring. I strongly believe that this fact deserves a thread of its own because I think it is undeniable that Blanche's artwork helped shape 40k into what it is today.

Everybody who played early edition or owns rulebooks from those times knows how iconic his style is.
His artwork of the Emperor as a rotting corpse on the golden throne for the 3rd edition rulebook is, to me at least, still the most iconic 40k artwork to this day.

I can only tip my hat and say my thanks to Mr Blanche for creating the quintessential grimdark art style we all know and love about 40k.
