How many Star Trek episodes were there that involved the Nazis, across all the various series? I'm purposely not googling this one, because I'd like to get this from other human beings, and maybe some discussion.

Anyway, I remember "Patterns of Force" of course, which I actually thought was a little lame, even for ST TOS. Fun, but not one of the best ones.

The Enterprise two-parter, "Storm Front", I really enjoyed, and thought it was one of the better ST episodes aross all series.

I also vaguely remember seeing snippets of a Voyager episode where the crew are deluded into thinking they are on Earth during WWII? Maybe one of those things where the holodeck was messing with their heads? Not sure, and I didn't bother to watch it. I never liked Voyager, and was just flipping through channels. I saw this and almost stopped. Then I had visions of Kate Mulgrew attempting to devour my brain, and ran from the room screaming.

Well. Maybe not quite screaming.

And there are a lot of the newer series that I've never seen. I have seen one or two episodes of Picard, which I guardedly liked (young Guinan was cute). Never saw any of the purple Klingon ST. Purple Klingons were enough for me.

Just curious.

Oh. I remember that Hitler did a live appearance in Storm Front. I wonder who his agent is?

Hmm. Have I broken an unwritten rule here? If so, it was not intended. I certainly didn't mean for this to turn into a pro-Third-Reich fest. Just saw a tiny snippet of the Voyager episode and got to thinking.

No offense intended.

I don't believe you did. Could be a lack of interest. I myself am just tired of Nazi's in media and have not seen the relevant material you reference.
Don't know it could be too close to the line for some people.

Sigh, Yet another doomed attempt by man to bridge the gap between the material and spiritual worlds

I just can’t think of any examples you haven’t mentioned. Mayyybe there were Nazis on the holodeck one time?

Counting just off my head from memory and looking up the episode names;

TOS has "Patterns of Force" which depicts a 'planet of Nazis' who use literal Nazi symbols and images. The episode was banned in Germany at the time for it and its honestly one of TOS' goofier episodes for how on the nose it is.

Chang overtly references Mein Kampf in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Voyager and Enterprise both have 2 parters that involved Nazis or Nazism.

In Voyager, the Hirogen take over the ship to use its holo technology and one of the simulations they run is Occupied France with the Hirogen in the role of the Germans. This is the two-parter 'the Killing Game.'

In Enterprise's Season 3 ending/4 start (?), Zero Hour and Storm Front, the Enterprise goes back in time to find aliens attempting to alter history by helping the Nazis win.

DS9 doesn't overtly reference the Nazis, but one of the popular programs O'Brien and Julian run is the Battle of Britain. More obviously, one could point out the parallels between the Cardassian occupation of Bajor and the Nazis treatment of Jews (though showrunners identify Cardassia and Bajor as more analogous to Britain and India in behind the scenes material).

There might be more.

The Voyager one was one of many holodeck simulations used by the Hirogen for their hunts. They would pick various historical or cultural scenarios and use neural inhibitors to programme the crew into believing they were characters in the setting. The WW2 France one was picked out-of-universe because it was a pre-existing Paramount set that had previously been used for the holoprogramme Fairhaven. It was also used for the main set for the show The Good Place.

Kids were noising it up in the background. Was there a nazi reference in this? Or just something very indirect about how the Federation is so cool that it gets to run everything?

It's most an in-universe gag that runs on discounting 'the Federation is evil.' The showrunners of Lower Decks admit to having been active on fan forums so they probably became aware of that idea and then had a whole gag about it XD

Sounds cool. I like the original Animated series (which many ST fans seem to hate) but I can't quite bring myself to watch this.

Gotta work myself up to it, maybe ;-)
