Hey I'm the gallery moderator and a new powered just asked about what is/is not allowed so I figured it was a good time to put this out for discussion.

(Tip of the het for a good question)

For me the 2 lodestones here are "stay on topic" and "keep it clean this is a family wargame", which can be compressed into a single rule of "don't be a donkey cave".

Models should be on topic, that is related to wargaming. Which can be pretty broad.

Besides regulation models I see action figures, cosplay, chibi figures, conversions and scratch builds.

In theory we'd also be fine with historical military models, sci fi models, Gunpla, and the like (since most sci fi franchises have some sort of game attached) but I don't see much of that.

If I started seeing a lot of superhero statues, car models, doll houses, street dioramas I might ask questions but so far it's not been an issue.

Generally the guideline is stay on topic. Making a good dollhouse involves a lot of the same skills as making a wargaming diorama or terrain so if it's there to illustrate those skills great.

Nudity is a tricky one since most of the games we play have had naked near naked official figures. Generally if something is R Rated I'll turn off voting and add a NSFW tag so that it will not come up randomly on someone's computer. If the poster can do that for me, all the better.

Something X rated I'd probably delete, but again it really hasn't come up, which I think is a testimony to the great community we have.

Comments? Thoughts?

Question for non-model but still geeky stuff.

For example, I’ve got a pick of gaming related pins on my jacket, and a pic of me flying a white tree of godor at my home. Both are on topic as being wargame-adjacent, both family friendly. But not strictly model related.

Obviously there is a line somewhere where things get to tangentially related to be appropriate.

I think a key element of that line is “this is my photo of something I did / created / experienced because of this hobby” versus “something random I found on the internet”.

Good questions all.

I think Jadenim has a good point, something by you (your workspace, your photo shopped battle scene, your tattoo) is better than random images found elsewhere.

A title, a description or tags can be really helpful in letting me or other mods know why something is there.

We don't want the gallery to become a dumping ground for memes and low content posts.

So far, so good, posters have generally been fantastic in keeping on topic. And keep in mind so far goes back to like 2009 for me.
