Okay. So we've seen what detachments and strats we're stuck with until books start dropping. What kind of detachments/benefits/strats are you hoping to see for your armies?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Armoured Company - something that lets you bring 9 standard Russes* (+ a tank commander) so you can do an actual armoured company. Or at the very least makes 'em Battleline.
Mechanised Infantry - Something that expands the allowance on Dedicated Transports so you can do a full Steel Legion-style force.
Spirit Host - Puts Wraith units (not the Wraithknight!) into Battleline, and maybe some enhancements for Farseers/Warlocks to give them more Spiritseer-like abilities.
Forge of the Damned - Daemon Engines front and centre!



*And before anyone says anything, yes I'm aware that you can bring 21 Leman Russes currently without shifting what is Battleline. I'm talking about stock standard I-have-a-Battlecannon Leman Russes.

'Sisters of Battle Crutch Detachment'

All weapons with the 'Melta' USR get +6" range.
All weapons with the 'Torrent' USR get -1 AP
All Units get +1 attack on the charge.

Stratagems:
1CP, Meltas get Anti-Vehicle/Monster 4+
1CP, Any weapons where a dice roll determines how many shots it fires, reroll those dice.
1CP, Dominions Only: Bolter weapons gain devastating wounds.
1CP, +1 to wound in Melee
1CP, Vehicle weapons fired from within half range get -1AP
2CP, After a character dies, all miracle dice generated until the start of your opponents next command phase are automatically 6s. Can only be used once per game.

I'm hoping for drukhari detachments that allow archons and haemies to join incubi and grots. Another that comes with wych weapons. And then expanded wargear, relics, warlord traits sections. And of course the magical 'extra enhancement' stratagem they will preview in codex ultramarines.

I estimate somewhere around 2025 I'm so excited.

Which doesn't make sense, as you pay points for them. If they were free, then a limit wouldn't be arbitrary. But they cost points, so surely the limit should be the points limit of your army, and how much you are willing to spend?

I'd like an Imperial Agent detachment or two.

I'd like the Sisters Bloody Rose and Sacred Rose equivalent detachments.

Emperor's Children, Daemons of Slaanesh.

I'd like a "First Brood" detachment for GSC, representing the early stages of a Cult rather than the latter.

I'd like to see an Eldar Outcast detachment, or an Aspect Warrior Detachment.

I'd like to see a pure Wych Cult and a pure Coven.

For Guard, I want an Abhuman Auxiliary.

For T'au I want Kroot or Alien Auxiliary.

I'd like to see Armies of Faith (Guard + Sisters + Marines) and Torchbearers (Custodes + Admech + Marines) revisted, but probably just as Crusade forces.

Keep in mind, Stu Black of the dev studio has already talked about detachments a bit.

They're going for archetypes, not army color stuff.

So a 'wind rider' detachment rather than Sam Hain. Maybe bikers rather than White Scars.

For tyranids, 'Monster mash' and 'Vanguard organisms' were dropped into interviews.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Yeah, I'm under no illusions.

I doubt that I'll get what I need out of this edition- it was a longshot from the beginning. As soon as subfactions died for everyone but marines, I should have packed it in.

Anything that stops Astra Militarum from having lethal wounds, preferably OP in comparison so nobody sticks with lethal wounds.

It'd be nice if there was a Detachment that gave Canoptek Scarabs some OC and removed their ability to blow up.

A Detachment centred around C'tan could be pretty unique.

A mind control/terror Detachment for Necrons would be neat.

A Detachment that lets Necrons shoot out of Ghost Arks.

I wouldn't say ire, he's fine.

I just have had a single commander for my Superheavy Regiment for a long time in my fluff, and she has a customized model with a heavily customized command tank and whatnot.

Lord Solar Leontus is a fine gentleman I am sure, but horseback man can't ride in a transport, meaning my heavily customized command tank etc. isn't really very exciting; I have witten fluff about Lord Marshal Katerina Malinenko here before I am sure, and she isn't a horseback woman, haha.

My understanding is that the archetypes are the intention for the codex detachments, while more specialized detachments will come from campaign and WD materials.

Some kind of Shock Assault/Breakthrough Detachment for AM that gives +3" Movement to Regiment units if there are no enemy units within 6" of them and +1 Strength to Regiment unit ranged weapons if there are enemy units within 6" of them. I just want to make a meaty infantry assault and not feel stupid for doing it.
