Anyone put one of the old Leman Russ tank kits together? I can't get the tracks to link up correctly.

Lots and lots and lots of them. And chimeras. I always used the track guards to hide the dodgy join.

Alternatively, you tend to end up with spare track lengths that you can carefully cut individual links out of to fill small gaps.

Yes I have five of them three gave me trouble with the the tracks. What I do is use the spare tracks and snip them to fill in the gap. after a prime and some paint it's hardly noticeable especially if it is on the bottom. Also if you like using technical and texture paints for a mud or snow effect it can also hide it.

Oh thank god, I thought I was just dog gak at following instructions. I put together 5 Leman Russes and 6 Chimera hulls, maybe one time it worked well enough I didn't have to fix on the fly with track guards or leaving the gaps on the bottom. Just a brutal, discouraging build; nice model once completed.

No it's the kit, every darn time. My trick was to put some green stuff there and paint it as mud.

You can’t line the tracks so tight with each other, slight space in between each joint and you’ll be fine, highly recommend test fit before gluing though.
