Hi all,

Two colour-related questions I'm the learned folks here could help me with please... Firstly, I should say the main reason for asking is that I'm colour blind and struggle with similar shades (particularly red/green but not only those), which means I tend to second-guess myself on colours a lot and like to have paint schemes to follow where I can - even if I couldn't tell the difference myself I like to know that I've done things 'right'!

So I'm after a rust-coloured red for painting epic-scaled Mechanicum - they will be being allied with Blood Angels and Legio Ignatum titans, so I'm keen to avoid using Mephistion Red. I'm doing loyalist Mars fluff-wise, so whilst I want to keep to the red theme, I'm hoping to come up with some more "rust"-Reds that will provide a distinct look for them as I'd like there to be some variation in colour between the Mechanicum and the BA (even if I can't see the difference myself I like "knowing" they are different). Any thoughts?

On a different but similarly epic-scaled question - has there ever been anything 'official' on the paints to use for "Exertus Service Grey" (the "standard" grey of the Solar Auxilia). I couldn't see it referenced in the heraldry articles anywhere. Some suggestions on appropriate paints for that too would also be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I think 'Wild Rider Red' could be the red you're after?
Its the basic colour for my Ordo Reductor stuff.
Example...
Spoiler:

I figure the red book gives a colour refrence

Edit: just noticed that one of my whirlwinds for that game was still in the previous owners blood angels red livery....
Maybe not then...

Thanks! They all look the same to my eyes (but guessing the Blood Angels one has the eagle decal on the front...)

Maybe rather than a different kind of red I could look at doing some kind of Contrast or Tamiya clear red over a metallic base coat? Would maybe be the "right" kind of red but distinct from my BAs etc?
