Yes, yes, I know, this should have been posted in December, we're 5 months into the year already and the global economy is about to melt down for reasons that are completely unavoidable and non political.

But what the heck huh?

Some amazing things came out in 2024, Guards of Traitors Toll have ticked off the boxes for fantasy civilians and guards. WGA continues to hit it out of the park, with the Damned coming this year. Northstar's Oath/Frost/Star/Grave line is always reliable. TTCombat is doing more and more plastic starships. And GW is just out there doing all kinds of crazy stuff that we still buy anyway.

But there's always room for more.

What's on your list for 2025?

2024 lists are here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/812776.page

Fantasy

Ninjas/Monks/Martial Artists - Poses will be the key for these, if someone can do graceful and beautiful martial arts poses and weapons, but without people supported by their sashes or requiring one figure be in 20 parts, it would be awesome. Alternate ninja and monk heads since they'd both be wearing the same loose robes and you've got something.

Pirates - to fight the ninjas.

Prisoners/captives/revolting slaves - hunched over starving humans in rags with alternate bound hands and hands with picks and weapons. Alternate downtrodden heads and angry heads.

Modular building walls - The only example I can think of is GW's Gondor ruins, someone could easily undercut them with a cheaper set, especially if they made intact walls and ruined walls different sets.

Modern/Near future

Tacticool Troopers/SWAT Teams/Faceless Oppressors - For completely non-political reasons I would love to have some faceless goons in body armor, with helmets and balaclavas and optional gas mask heads. A panel on the back where we can add the 3 letters of our choice.

Terrorists/criminals/Insurgents - To face the Tacticools, civilian clothes and makeshift modern weapons.

Cops/Security Guards - The guys who suck. Caps, flashlights, pistols, clubs, reading newspapers, smoking cigarettes, looking at their phones, snoozing. They'll all die in wave one. I'll buy ten boxes of them.

Panicking Civilians/Rioters - They've been on my list forever. They are still on my list.

Vehicle accessories - Similar to ones for the 15mm gaslands but for 1/48 scale (~28mm) vehicles. Guns, ram bars, rocket launchers, barrels. Turn those diecast pick up trucks into technicals!

Superheroes - Easy as cake really. Superheroes traditionally have skintight costumes so artists just have to draw a figure and then color it in without worrying about the texture and folds of clothing. So some heroic human bodies, some capes, some wands and staffs and hammers and ray guns and jet packs and we're good to go.

Sci-Fi

Space Ninjas - With laser katanas and cyber shuriken and nuclear nunchakus and all that.

Space Pirates - With sonic blunderbusses and bionic peglegs and chainsaw cutlasses and all that.

Sewer Mutants - hunched over with tumors and rags and makeshift weapons. Basically the Hobbit movie goblins with guns.

Star Fleet/Imperial Navy - Space Navy dudes in nice uniforms, cool hats, tiny little pistols that you can set for maximum power wide-angle dispersal and take out half the building. At least one dude on the sprue with a Very Nice Uniform who can be the senior officer. They don't have to be full on Napoleonic Cosplay but it should be clear these are people used to air conditioned corridors and not trenches.

North Star really covers a huge amount of what I want between their various ranges. The upcoming cyborgs were on my wish list, so that's great.

But I still want modular, chunky-retro style robots! It seems like an easy win and yet nobody is making them. Perhaps there's some sort of market data I don't know about.

I think between North Star and Atlantic most of that list will be covered by the end of this year!

I want Gangsters (which I know Atlantic is doing in the mid term)
I want some Trench Crusade/Doom 1490/Turnip28 proper grimdark kitbash gak in plastic
And the rest of the Heresy range

GW's road map is starting to run of room, with really only Votann, Dark Eldar, Grey Knights that are unspoiled. So I'll be selfish and hope for a big new update to the Votann range.

In third party stuff, I'm very much intrigued by the rise of epic scale gaming, especially in a fantasy space.

My wish? That the new Kill Team season this fall comes with some non-Imperial terrain at last. Overgrown Eldar terrain + an Exodite Kill Team would be the best combination and there would be much rejoicing from me. Necron tomb world terrain and a Destroyer or Canoptek themed Kill Team would be the second best thing. Not holding my breath, though.

Don+t we already know it comes with Tyranid terrain?

But you can't use Tyranid terrain with every board... you can use ancient Necron structures or Eldar portals.

That's true, but it is just a few pieces worth of add-on to Volkus terrain and I am hoping for full Xenos boards. I wasn't clear enough, sorry.

GW

Done in One IG Regiments - This has been on every wish list I've done, and it's back again! GW has shown it can pack a lot into a single box, the Arbites for example can make shotgun men, stick and boards or specialists. Just churn these out for the Imperial Guard with the bits for a standard infantry squad, a command squad, and a unique elite unit for each regiment. IE the Tallarn Box builds 10 riflemen (with special and heavy options), Officers and specialists (with a flag and power scimitars and all that), and some unique Tallarn Desert Raiders who infiltrate and slit throats and set explosives and such. Basically rather than a regiment being a commitment for three or four kits do it all in one. Throw in a generic heavy weapon sprue and you've got a great army in one box.

Thunderbolts and Lightning - Very, very fighting! It's been more than 15 years since the Valkyrie came out (still one of my favorite kits) now apply that genius to the Imperial Fighters the Thunderbolts *, Lighting and * New Avengers! The Dakka Jet is a brilliant kit that can make distinctive looking plans from a single kit, this would be similar. Yeah you'd have to compromise the look of some planes but GW, I believe in you! You can do this!

IG Jeep - It's been on my list forever, it is still on my list, it will be on my list forever. And no the Taurus does not count. I want something that carries 5-6 infantry and also be a staff car.

IG Troop Truck - Another perennial. Carries 20 or more, armed with like a heavy stubber. Simple, useful, and people would need to buy a dozen of them. Much more useful than an obscure tank they'll only buy one of.

Getting my miniatures (originally from) Blacklist Games!

Backed two sets of Fantasy Series 1 and 2. FS1 came in after much drama, but FS2 fell through. Thankfully, Wildspire now owns the property, and is offering a discount for FS backers during their Gamefound campaign.

Can't wait to finally get these mini's!

Obligatory mini's shot from FS1

I'm still missing a couple items from my dream army builds:

1) Assault Indomi Terminators (bonus points for BA iconography but not a must)

2) HH plastic Land Speeder Proteus

3) HH MKV in plastic please!

Everything else's just nice but these are my biggest priorities

Yep, these 2 are also on my list (although I'd be just as happy with a plastic Javelin) - along with the Legion Rapier and missing Sicaran variants.

Plastic Storm Eagle. Lovely model, but the resin kit is a horror show. Not much larger than a Stormraven, so potentially do-able.

Plastic Javelin would also be nice (and a fairly safe bet for a kit release in due course).

I like the IG jeep idea. I tried mucking about with a concept for a smaller ATV for my Necromunda project

I managed to pick up a bunch of the old landspeeder chassis for super cheap, and was planning on doing a smaller individual/scout transport version as well but lost impetus on the project.

I'd love a Stalk Tank mini, while we're at it. Though I don't love the much more bug like design I've seen in some art - I imagined something a lot more tank like when I read the book. Stalk Tanks and Traitor Guard with mutants and so on is an obvious win for GW. Let's give us a full on Blood Pact army.

I was reading the HH 1st edition, trying to read more background on Custodes when I found a reference to when the Emperor is leading your army.

I want the Emperor! Give me that and I'll abandon 40k and convert to the old ways.

From GW?
1) Non-Imperial 40k terrain. Specifically Eldar stuff.
2) a 40k playable Leman Russ (Primarch) - well, actually just the rules as I've had the metal mini for as long as SW have been a thing....

Astronauts have been on my list for a long time, and lo and behold Black Site are doing plastic, modular US Astronauts and Soviet Cosmonauts!

Now someone do hazmat teams!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also a random idea, probably better for an STL, but I would laugh my butt off if someone made a 28mm version of these exact guys.

Growing up nearly all toy soldiers were in these poses, have a mini squad or army of them would make me smile.

Thanks to 3D printing, I'm increasingly covered for my dream list of minis - my digital dragon's horde is even larger than my physical pile of shame at this point!

But I still wish for the following in plastic OR ones & zeros:

Modular goblins of the hunched, loincloth, pointy-nosed scavengers variety. Not as overwrought fang-faced as the Old World common goblins, and not as nicely dressed. Cave-dwelling primitive monsters, with broken equipment stolen from victims (or clubs and crude spears, crude bows/slings). Something more like the early Goblin Slayer novel art than GW or D&D, who are dressed too nicely. Bonus points if I can put their little bow-legged carcasses on wolves and wargs.

Grey aliens who - actually, screw it, I'll be honest - X-COM UFO Defence or XCOM Enemy Unknown Sectoids. The child-sized greys with plasma weapons invading earth in the shadows, but increasingly in the open. I've found make-do minis or conversion bits for most of the rest of a giant X-COM project, but these little buggers need to be just right.
