I was going to pick up the Deathwatch Marine this weekend, but I don't need a Deathwatch Marine, I need Captains and Lieutenants.

Any ideas on how to convert this model?

Paint the helmet a different colour

may be you should pick-up captains and lieuts? this should help IIRC you don't have extensive bits box so it's gonna be not easy conversion. add him greenstuff cloak and kind of servoskull. and you can say it's phobos captain.

Make sure he has the right wargear for the job. And the correct base size

More bling than normal. Either in bits, or more gold in the paint job. Need to stand out from the troopers.

Ditch the helmet. Bare heads help characters stand out. Helmet crests help if you want to keep the helmet on.

Paint rank markings.

By comparison to the phobos captain, the main difference is just a cloak and random devotion stuff, like purity seals and reliquaries. If you have other marine kits, finding the drippy bits should be easy. Either separately, or snipped off other models.

Purity seals are super easy to make with green stuff and a bit of metal foil for the parchment, or just green stuff for both.

While he's in Phobos armour, the fancy schmansy big shoulder pads from standard mark 10 armour should probably fit if you need a bit of extra space for heraldry, or protective flanges.

Maybe add a tilting shield?

Maybe don't add the bolt shell charm on his gun, though, as that makes him look like an 8 year old chad gamer
