I wanted to start one thread where I could post/update with different bonkers army lists I come up with for High Elves in the Old World and/or maybe 8th edition? I dunno why the community still latched onto 8th edition, I think 6th was better, but army books in 8th did have more units I suppose.

Here's the first of the lists.

Prince - 250 points - Shield, General, Barded Steed, Star Lance, Armor of Caledor, Seed of Rebirth
Mage - 173 points - level 2, high magic, barded steed, wand of jet
Noble - 235 points - battle standard, battle banner, lance, full plate armor, shield, seed of rebirth, talisman of protection
Noble - 170 points - great eagle, full plate armor, lance, seed of rebirth, enchanted shield
Noble - 170 points - great eagle, full plate armor, lance, seed of rebirth, enchanted shield
All characters have pure of heart

Rare - 4x great eagles - 260 points total

7x Silver Helms - 211 points - shields, musician, standard bearer, high helm with ring of fury

7x lothern skycutters is a funny thing to me, just helecoptering around with bolt throwers and bows (if there's any errors, I'm using new recruit and i'm not sure on all list building limitations)

Do you think 6th edition or Old World is the way to go? I’m debating on base sizes for my High Elves.

Imo it's easier to go up than down, and keeping the classic base sizes means it's easy to play all the oldhammer editions which is important to me.

If I want to play the new game I'll use adapters. But I'll likely not play it due to the base size nonsense.

There are plenty of places that make base adapters. I have my own FDM printer so I just print out the base adapters I need and keep all my old WFHB models on their original bases otherwise.

This is actually the exact sort of list I usually take, except I take 1-2 characters and put 1 on a phoenix or dragon. And probably take silver helms over reavers.

In game, it usually disappoints, as the ranged units never seem to do enough, and the cavalry always whiff their charge attacks.
