Hi guys, is anyone still playing Man O' War these days? I've recently got back into collecting fleets, having sold off my entire collection a little more than a decade ago (and regretted it ever since). I'm building basic fleets at the moment, focusing on High Elves and Dwarves to begin with, but hopefully being able to have a fleet for every faction eventually.

I've also been wondering what it would be like for GW to reprint the old game and all the ships and expansions. Do people think it would sell? I personally would much rather have the old game back as it is, rather than having a complete reboot/reinterpretation (though having said that, a similar game based on the AoS universe might be fun!), but I do wonder if the old game could be expanded in any way. Perhaps a new expansion encapsulating the updated faction rules in the old citadel journals, plus one or two new ships for each faction? Nothing too overboard.

To that end, I've started putting a document together with ideas for new ships for each fleet. This includes things like Globadier Balloonists for Skaven, allowing Skaven Warlock Engineers to hurl poison wind globes down on enemy ships, Slaveships (ship of the line squadrons or independent ships from other factions with a points cost boost and a lower close combat ability) for Dark Elves and Hobgoblin Clanships for Chaos Dwarves bringing their traditional allies/slaves into the game. If anyone would like to collaborate with me and add suggestions, that would be great. Just let me know

Finally, does anyone have any tips on how to paint a High Elf fleet? I've got the ships primed in White Scar, I'm thinking of using Apothecary White over all the white areas, Imperial Fist and then Iyanden Yellow over the yellow areas, and finally Kantor Blue or Caledor Sky for the roofs with appropriate highlights and shading, but I'm worried the Apothecary White will make the hulls look too grey... Any suggestions?

So balance was terrible by the end (some expansion fleets were hilariously good and the Orcs really needed some help...).

Sea of Claws and facebook has stuff, though in the latter their group got deleted due to sharing the files and STLs. They have a new one now.

In terms of GW re-releasing, if there was a balanced fan version to steal it would be a neat one off thing. I wonder if it would sell though?

They would change the rules to reduce the cardboard required I suspect.

I presume you mean the ship template cards and all the little markers and tokens? That's actually a big part of the nostalgia for me, lol. On the terrain front, didn't GW go back into cardboard terrain recently?

You're right, of course, there was far too much cardboard in the game. If they were to do a reboot and redesign (maybe for AoS) I'm sure they would address that issue. I'm more interested in a rerelease of the original game, though.

On the balance issues, do you think they could be fixed by tweaking points costs and adding in extra ships for factions that need it? I've heard Chaos were pretty laughably overpowered, but they also had by far the biggest selection of ships - assuming you weren't focusing on one chaos god, that is. I have plenty of ideas for lore apropriate ship types to fill out the factions that need it...
