Some news from Osprey Games:

After 11 fantastic years, Bloomsbury Publishing, the owner of Osprey Games, has made the difficult decision to sell the board and card game line. This was not a decision taken lightly and reflects a strategic refocusing on book publishing. Going forwards, wargames and roleplaying games will form the core part of what we publish.

We are immensely proud of the exceptional catalogue of board and card games that we have had the privilege to publish over the years. We have worked with some of the very best designers and illustrators that the industry has to offer, alongside many other incredible contributors, and we are deeply grateful to the talented and passionate team who have brought these games to life.

During this transitional period, and as we look for a new home for our board and card games, we remain committed to supporting our designers, partners and collaborators, and will continue to release, sell and license upcoming games according to our existing schedules. We will not, however, be commissioning any new board and card games.

Finally, a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Osprey Games over the years. Your enthusiasm and belief in what we do has meant more to us than we can say.

That’s all for now and we will share updates here as and when we are able to do so. We’ll be at UK Games Expo later this month (stand 3A-448) demoing Threaded, Flip Pick Towers and Rattlesnake, and we hope to see some of you there.

They were rooting around in the couch for the remote and found a whole board and card game division.

It could happen to anyone, really.

They do Imperium and Undaunted, which are both well regarded. They also have some others decently ranked on BGG, although I've not heard of them.

Didn't even realize they did boardgames, but looking at some of them, i've heard of Undaunted at least.

Yes, and many of them are award winning and well-regarded.

I wonder who (if anyone) will pick them up?

It is sad and upsetting. Frostgrave and many more are legendary, high quality systems. Not sure who's going to invest with the currents economic and global political situations.

Frostgrave isn't going anywhere. Just their board and card games.

This will NOT effect Frostgrave or any of the RPG/Wargaming Series. This is only the board and card games!

I talked to the editor at Osprey Games and he confirmed this. Since I have a game scheduled for release in the Osprey Wargaming Series he wanted to make sure that I did not stop working on it.

Me too. I picked up General Orders: Sengoku Jidai and am considering Undaunted: Stalingrad.

So we’re just going to let the hate crime of mentioning an upcoming game without details stand?

Undaunted appears to have been a huge hit, so I'd expect someone to pick that up at the very least.

As was Imperium, though I believe that's very much "complete" as of this point with the designers doing a new take on the mechanisms with Star Trek Captain's Chair elsewhere.

It is probably three to four years out still!
