Wow, John came out super! I'll admit now that I wasn't 100% sold on the conversion as bare metal, but it's painted up a treat and thoroughly dispelled those doubts!

Thanks on both counts!

Honestly, I feel the same! Definitely went through an unconvinced phase. Phew!
Yorkright wrote: Quite the lot painted up since I was last here. I like it all but Ivy and Owlman are my 2 favs.

Thanks. Given that they both got finished by accident, on a whim, I'm particularly pleased.

I should point out that I'm not painting as fast as it might seem. Lots of stuff has bits and pieces done, as I dilettante about from one to another.

Which is why this got done today:

Given the hellish fragility of the model, she's now rock solid. Plus having the only Villain magic user in the game done is good for serious muscle.

Not feeling (or feeding) the plants just now.

Which leaves (that are primed and ready):
Blackgate prisoners (part painted)
Walking dead prisoners, Abraham, Negan, Tyreese and a couple of walkers (part painted)
Batman and Arkham Guards
Knightfall Batman
Flashpoint Batman
Red Son Superman
Batgirl (rebirth)
Red Hood (Arkham)
Gorilla Grodd Crew
Parliament of Owls
Johnny Quick
Joker and clowns (Arkham Asylum)
Joker (Killing Joke)
Ivy's plants

Thoughts? Requests?

Y'know, for someone who has commented about "cheesecake", you sure paint a lot of very leggy minis.

Just sayin'. Not disapprovin'.

The hair could use a bit more sheen/highlights to bring it more to life. I'm a sucker for long flowing hair on minis, so I can't resist commenting on this.

Poison Ivy's plants next.

Also, when did dilettante become a verb?

Beautiful work, she is gorgeous.

Agree with Red, firstly, you are definitely a leg man, and secondly, I am a dilettante, you are a professional, think you probably meant dither, or digress.

(Just wanted to "correct" the teacher for a change. Got to take these opportunities.

LOL tis the game aesthetic. But yeah, fair point. Though it's usually the hyper-bewbs that bug me. Good call on the hair, I'll definitely fix that.

I don't wanna paint the plants! But I really should, I suppose, then it's done.

See, the plants, like I said. I knew that they would turn out well, and they did -- seymour especially. I'm always right, y'know. Except on those rare occasions when I am not. Such occasions seem to be getting less rare as I get older though. Hmmm.

To putz around/about. I don't know how much Yiddish slang has pervaded UK-English, but it has made inroads into US-English. Much to US-English's enrichment, I might add. To dither wourks too. Or to fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way.

Joker (Killing Joke) next.

Well, the wisdom of Red Harvest is not to be denied.
There's a delightful Scots term haver which means much the same (as heard on '500 miles').
I've not heard putz used as a verb, actually, only as a noun to describe a moron (or, again in Scots, Numpty). Yiddish words don't have huge mainstream use in outside of London really. My dad's family is Jewish (and my major, long ago, was linguistics) so I'm a bit more au fait. My wife's favourite word is tuckus As for verbing dilettante, I'm an English teacher, I can talk good me.
Getting a lot of votes for KJ here. I'll do him, but not till he's had a bit of GS work. The model isn't that different from the Arkham Joker, apart from having a cane, so I've decided to GS him a hat and a camera (shudder). I did my Burton joker a top hat so I reckon I can do a wide brim hat for this Mr J without too much difficulty. Added bonus of doing KJ is that he's the version for the DCUMG (as opposed to BMG, though he's compatible).

(edit - now he has a hat and camera)

Well thank you kindly sir. I guess I just plough my own furrow...

Guildenstern wrote:Those are goregous Graven, love the plants, especially the way the colours blend in, they look really natural and horrific at the same time

Thanks m'dear, and thanks for swinging by! I really enjoyed doing the faces on the leaves especially.

So... I half listened; Walkers, Survivors and prisoners have made some progress:
Very orange prisoners, the new Blackgate set for BMG.

And...

So Walking Dead: Safety behind bars.

And walkers

Plus Tyreese, one of the Governor's goons and a couple of oh, very minor character promos:

Such lovely models.
Playing a bmg game in a fortnight, my opponent wants to play against something he's never faced. Toying with doing a list with unpainted stuff, just to force myself to do things which means Court of Owls (haven't used them in aaaaages) by process of elimination.
For those of you who play, or are interested
Spoiler:

Lots of double damage, fast, tireless, stealth. No butcher, no leader. Has risks but very high model count.

Of course, they aren't even primed

Still, good to have a plan

Cheers

As promised, then, Walkers:

Prisoners

And Walking Dead survivors:

Yes, I may have made an eyeball for Negan's base

Blackgate prisoners set 3

Scale comparison between TWD and BMG prisoners.

Close enough to use BMG for extra prisoners.

Initial shading done on the Parliament of Owls

And Atrocitus, for variety.

He'll be done exactly the same way as John Stewart, only reds, of course.
Had a great day. Huge brunch (kids went nuts on pancakes, wife went full Scottish breakfast, I had the same... on a burger (bacon, black pudding, haggis, potato scone omnomnom) ). Leisurely shopping, wife got stuff. Then steak for dinner, beautiful ribeyes. How I keep my sylf-like figure is quite beyond me...

Oh, and my awesome wife got me a new tea cup:

I think it's a hint to paint him next

Meanwhile, a micro-update:

Finished the gs work on the camera and strap, filed the brim down a bit (although it's very faithful to the comic's size)
Not much will get done today. Shuttling kids tonight, and #2 is under the weather (was in bed with us from 4am ... )

On a separate note, I've painted 53 models so far this year (counting sets of a given objective as "one model"); admitedly 3/5 is this month alone, but still, on target to beat last year's total of 185!

Sadly, no, wish it were. Still very lovely.

Quite unexpectedly, I had a bit of painting time. 7 yo ill, still, and a 2.5 hr nap equalled painting time for daddy:
