Locally, we use a D66 chart to roll up random missions. Last year, a '60' was one of the special mission scenarios from the BGB. This year, we've had a change in games organizer, and the new organizer is tossing around the idea of making '60's on the chart CoD missions, to mix things up abit.

Likewise, the FLGS bought 2 Imperial Cities, and 1 Imperial Sector, and we've currently built 20 total buildings, with atleast 5 more still in bits.... CoD is gonna be VERY popular locally, and tons of people are getting psyched about it. This army is meant to be fielded in either normal 40k, or in CoD, and still hopefully stand a chance.

I have everything I need for my 1850 IG army, and came up with this in army builder. Before I start listing out the choices, let me say this... it isn't a 100% power-game army. It has some 'fluff' unit choices, namely the Enginseer. Likewise, I know some people think upgraded guardsmen are a bad idea, but Cameleoline just seems too good to pass up, especially in CoD.

Without further delay, the army:

Doctrines: Allow Enginseers, Drop Troops, Iron Discipline, Close Order Drill, Cameleoline

HQ-
Command Platoon - 301
Command Squad: 3x Lasguns, Veteran Standard Bearer, Junior Officer /w honorifica, LP/CCW. ID, Camo
Anti Tank squad: 3x Lascannons, Camo
Fire Support squad: 3x Heavy Bolters, Camo

Elites-
Techpreist Enginseer + 4x Tech servitors - 85

Troops-
Infantry Platoon - 370
Command squad: 4x lasguns, JO /w LP/CCW. ID, Camo

Basilisk: Indirect Training - 125

Total: 1835

I have one of the russes magnetized to accept sponson heavy bolters, because I thought they may be useful in CoD.

Do I need Rough Terrain mods on everything? I love the look of dozer blades, especially on the russes, but those points add up quickly.

Enginseer is there to run behind the russes and hellhounds, and repair them on a 2+. Not the best unit choice I know, but it fits the theme of my army, and I love the model.

I am really undecided on cameleoline... on one hand, great cover saves, especially in CoD... but CoD favors close combat armies, so is it really that useful? If I dropped Camo from everyone, as well as some of the vehicle upgrades, I could fit in 5x stormtroopers (2x plasma, Deep Strike), and 6x hardened vets (3x melta). Would this be a better choice?

Thanks in advance

Not a bad list. Playtest it some and see for yourself what you like. I personally think the dozer blades would also look cool.

I am not a fan of Cameoline, but knock yourself out

I heart SYR 8766

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... Asmodai (my new hero)

At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy.

I've also given Camo a try, and think the 100 points are best spent elsewhere. Even in a ruin-packed board, you're going to be running through the streets enough that it won't always help. Plus, as soon as you get into close combat (which is always soon), it does nothing. Best give it a try and see for yourself, of course.

Vets are nice. The chance to hide a powerfist can be a lifesaver.

If you dump camo you could add special teams... those demo packs can cause quite a stir, especially when you pop up through the sewers ...

Lascannons in squads is nutty if you ask me, because I like mobility above all. Seems like most everyone else disagrees. Sentinels have helped me a lot in CoD.

Edit: One more thing -- I've found Light Infantry to be an excellent thing -- definitely more useful than Camo.

"I've also given Camo a try, and think the 100 points are best spent elsewhere."

A 3+ save is worth it in CoD. Very worth it. Normally I'm in the school of thought where more men > more toys. However, the 100 points are going to buy him what, an extra squad? He has 6 squads. That's a good amount for 1850. He doesn't need a 7th squad.

On the other hand, giving his men a 3+ save against everything except flamer template weapons and HTH attacks will keep those men fighting for far, far longer. It will also help the fragile weapon squads.

The only thing I wouldn't take is the Enginseer. They suck. Badly. Complete waste of a Doctrine Point.
