yeah, thats one of the 54mm models. The skirmish game is still being worked on, from what Ive heard closer to being done than not. One set of rules and minis being tested right now, representing one area of Westeros, to be expanded later.

Keen. I'll have to give it a try when it comes out. Are there others or just Jon Snow?

I think the skirmish game will be 28mm. They're doing odd things with this release.

I just think it's odd to have things in different scales.
1. a "skirmish" style miniatures wargame set in the world of Westeros, accompanied by a range of unpainted pewter minis in the "heroic 28mm" scale, 2. a series of collector's miniatures in kit form, cast in pewter and white metal in the traditional 54mm "toy soldier scale," similar in size and quality to the kits from Andrea, Pegaso, and other top European figure makers, 3. large-sized resin miniatures in 1/18 scale, done in resin and fully painted, for fans and collectors who would rather not build kits or wield a brush themselves.
I dunno. Did it work for LOTR?

I see. Yeah you're right it is odd. You'd think that they'd do one and if that worked out then other things might come from it. Sort of like GW doing Inquisitor, a separate game with a different scale using the same 'fluff' as 40k. I dunno, I'll bet that the 1/18 scale models will be popular but I don't see why they'd do it all at the same time or relate that product to the miniature game.

Ughrrr! Grhhhaaaahhh!!! <grunt translator="" activated=""><code><grunt translator activated></grunt></code><grunt translator="" activated=""> My guess is they are blanketting the various (often disparate) modelling audiences with their product to get the widest reach possible. 28mm for the wargamers/miniaturists that like our heroic scaled minis, 54mm and 1/18 scale collectors stuff for those that are more into the modelling/painting, many whom might not be into wargames at all. Like those just into scale modelling (of which there is a wider audience). <grunt translator="" deactivated=""></grunt></grunt><grunt translator="" activated=""><code><grunt translator deactivated></grunt></code> <grunt translator="" activated=""><grunt translator="" deactivated="">unghrrruh... </grunt></grunt>

Back on topic, I love that mini and will buy it. Whats the story behind the 28mm skirmish game though? Are they based off an exsisting game/world?

It's based on a political/War of the Roses type storyline set in a fantasy setting that doesn't have a lot of obvious magic. The series is called A Song of Ice and Fire, and the first book is A Game of Thrones.
I read it because Mannahin and others on the board recommended it, and I went ahead and read the others. It's a great world that doesn't have any real "gimmicks" (if you read enough fantasy, you know what I mean), so it's a lot of fun. Characters die, and fortunes shift, and all that good stuff.

IIRC, there already is a sculpt of a duel between Robert Barathorn and the last King of the Tangaryens.

Very cool sculpt.
I'll throw in my vote of confidence for A Song of Fire and Ice as well, if you haven't read them yet then you ought to, a very good line of books.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust. |

I've got a copy of it, but I've never had the chance to play it. It's very pretty though...

I think you mean prince Rheagar, Jaime Lannister killed the last Targaryen king. If so, I'll have to check that out, I rather like Rheagar's character. Too bad he's already dead by the time the series begins. As for Jon Snow, that's a sweet figure. I'll probablt pick one up when it's released. Should be quite a challenge to paint and make look right, seing as he's wearing all black.
