Hey all, just popping in again to ask for advice on which of the following sister lists i should bring to a local gladiator tourney on saturday. Both have a lot of overlapping units but what SoB army doesn't? Anyways  the two lists i cooked up are below any thoughts are welcome.

The following list is more for harrasment with the assasin then anything else, Her ability to show up in an opponents backfield at anytime makes it easier to take on the gaurd armies with a couple dozen heavy weapons and those pesky iron warriors more then anything else.

Canoness- Inferno pistol, Eviscerator, Cloak, Jump Pack, Book of Saint, Mantle of Ophelia

Inquisitor- Scourging psychic power

                  Callidus Assasin

3x10 Sisters- VSS Eviscerator & BP - HF, MG

              1x10 Sisters- VSS Eviscerator & BP - HF, F

              4x Rhino- Smoke, EA,

2x6 Seraphim- 2 Hand Flamers, VSS- BP Eviscerator

             3x Exorcists- EA

1999 Total, 8 Faith, 9 Scoring units

The second army is more of a pure SoB list., the dual canoness are for tank hunting  goodness, and  to more easily deal with the godzilla list or two ill be facing.

Canoness- Inferno pistol, Eviscerator, Cloak, Jump Pack, Book of Saint, Mantle of Ophelia
Canoness- Inferno pistol, Eviscerator, Cloak, Jump Pack,

                2x5 Celestians- HB

3x10 Sisters- VSS Eviscerator & BP- HF, MG
               3x Rhino- Smoke, EA,

2x8 Seraphim- 2 Hand Flamers, VSS- Brazier of fire, Eviscerator

              3x Exorcists- EA, Smoke

1996 Total, 11 Faith, 10 Scoring units

Just FYI some of the armies i know ill be facing: Zilla nids, Marine 6 man las/plas army of doom with 1-2 assault squads, Iron warriors, Alpha legion, and one demonbomb army at least... Any ideas?

I like the second one better, because it brings more scoring units and faith to the table. Capt K

I initially liked the second one myself as its my usual list but with all the indirect defilers, and stand back and shoot aarmies ill face i figured havign something to mess up the infantry armies backfield was needed. After all with the weapon heavy gaurd and marine armies my odds of making it across the board are iffy at best. Has anyone on this forum taken witchuners to this kind of tourney?

The Elite inquisitor should have nothing more than a BP+CCW to get you the callidus. I'd suggest dropping one mounted sisters squad and using the points to buy a second flying cannoness and some more seraphim.

I like the second list a lot better. Then again, I'm a purist. The thought of having a witch in my army, even an imperially sanctioned one, makes me want to flagellate myself for unclean thoughts. Plus, callidus assasins will not make you any friends when they succeed since there's nothing the opponent can do about them tactically... And when they fail you will want to punch yourself in the face, because they really really fail sometimes. Especially against your ld 10 chaos and necrons. Though I bet there won't be any of those at the tournmant, so no worries, right? >.>

As for the details of the 2nd list, I'm as yet undecided on eviscerators on troop squads. True, eviscerators did save me against a tank company and an all mounted Tau army, but for the price of eviscerators (on four troop squads mind you) plus a seraphim or two I could grab a whole nother troop rhino or celestian squad with immolator. I like 5 girl celestian HB squads- they're too small and inexpensive for the enemy to want to swat them, but they can really be a pain for him with the heavy bolter. I think they're best used with immolators though, since that allows you to stuff some nasty heavy support tanks into your elites slots

Hrmm this lost my last post i think. I think i shoudl mention that this being a gladiator tourney that comp doesnt matter. So the assassin is there to harass mech armies and infantry gunline ones.

On a side not I'm glad you see the point of the celestian squads at 70 points each its barely worth it for a 115 point las/plas unit to spend two turns shooting at em.

So given a cutthroat environment i think the first list will have to do. Now the real question should i really drop the rhino unit to get the canoness and 2 more sera's to each squad? or would it be a better choice to drop the exorcists down to 2 and just get the other canoness and get books of the saint for each sera unit? Im worried that the rhino unit might be needed for the one or two hordes while 3 exorcists might be overkill with the canoness, callidus, and eviscerators and such.

Ok, if the goal is to be a jerk, then keep the callidus, as long as that's what the tournament is about. And on the same note, KEEP the 3 exorcists. Maxing your exorcists is not only effective, but it scares the bejeezus out of everyone. Plus they're good at wasting EVERY one of the most beefy things people can put in their lists to try to screw you, namely monoliths, greater demons, demon princes, tyranid big bugs... There's nothing big and points intensive that isn't threatened by an exorcist, and since people are going to cram all the cheddar they can into c'tans and wraithlords, stick it to em with the 3 exorcists.

2 canonesses= meh for me. Without the blessed weapon, a canoness loses a lot of power- the ability to choose between I1 S7 and I6 S5 is a big deal, and the master crafting is HUGE for our WS4 characters (take the blessed weapon btw!!). But a MC eviscerator runs you 40 points and always strikes last, which is what makes it so meh to me. But if you do think you need two canonesses, start by dropping the 4 eviscerators on the sister squads. Those expensive 2 handed chainfists, while they can be decent against immobile vehicles, rarely make a difference in cc, since battle sister squads are lame in that regard no matter what. Dropping the eviscerators nets you 100 points out of the ~140 you need for another HQ... And even if you don't end up going for another canoness, beefing up those phim squads would make a hell of a difference. Phim will lose models, and the difference between losing 3 from 6 and losing 3 from 9 is pretty big. You need those extra swings to get in some DG power hits, since the VSS on her own isn't enough to provide close combat punch for those units.
