The dragon doesn't look to bad, but he does look a lot like GW's dragons still.

but not more than ForgeWorld, and since this is 1 enormous and 2 resin I think that should be your basis of comparison. like an FW greater deamon this thing seems about in that line.

Do not use the CLEAR dice!

Dear Whiny Space Marine Players,
you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.

suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman!

SirNotInThisFilm has it right, that mindblowingly awesome new dragon is huge. Rackham's resin (and casting process) is also superior to Forgeworld's. My only problem is I'm terribly poor these days, though I still can't wait to get my hands on one. Perhaps I'll sell Malfred into slavery. Anbody interested in a school teacher, slightly used, high milage, but well maintained?

One problem with the Rackham resin monsters is their shipping- the Tarascus was shipped in a box of shreded newspaper. Needless to say people on the rackham forums were in kind of an uproar about their smashed models. From what people posted on the forums no one got a fully intact Tarascus (at least no one who posted a response or were known to the posters). I'll take a few bubbles in my resin over a smashed model any day. All that aside- that dragon is very, very tempting as a potential purchase.

Will he dress like a farmgirl and how does he like his corn on the cob?

Damn it, looking at those again in full size makes me all the more jealous and hateful of my finances. That dragon is cooler than the Crynwall one, which is pretty freaking awesome.

Absolutely and whichever outfit you like (I'm fond of his little French maid outfit). As far as corn on the cob, I hear he likes you to pick it out for him. Doesn't that sound tasty? So, any takers? I could really use the cash.

And as an added bonus, you'll never need to buy him booze, so that will save you at least $45 per month.

I'm more into the "Mary-Ann from Gilligan's Island" type.

Man the daikinee elves are shaping up nicely. Some of the best action poses for archers I have seen yet. Damn fine looking dragon too.

Navarro - I sure would like to see your perfect dragon when you find it.

Holy christ, I just found the measurements on that dragon, and is it HUGE! Rackham describes it as 30cm (~12") tall with a 35cm (~14") wingspan on a 10cm (~4") square base! Now that is fecking gigantic! *sound of jaw hitting floor*

So no takers on Malfred? I sure could use a colossal dragon in my collection... Anybody? Ferris?

I agree about the Daikinee elves- they're looking great. I love the dragon though- he's everything GW's stuff should be.

Including the price?

It looks fantastic and absolutely beautiful though.

To be fair- that's not too bad of a price for a big resin monster from a big game company. Honestly- you'd pay more to Forge World.

Drake's quite right, at 215 Euros ($250 USD), it's priced much better than Forgeworld's equivalent release, the Chaos Dragon, which is a whopping £195 GBP ($361.41 USD!!!). Both are roughly the same size, yet Rackham's is considerably cheaper and will almost certainly be better cast (and use better resin) than FW's peices. For a 12" x 14" monster of a dragon, quality cast in resin, that is a fantastic price. As I mentioned earlier, I just wish I wasn't so poor! Might have a taker on Malfred though (finally!)...

Actually, FW now uses a dark grey resin now and their casts are coming out beautifully.

Are they letting the peices actually cure long enough (which prevents warping/distortion) as well as replacing the latex molds *before* they've completely disintegrated as well? The old stuff also used an excessive amount of filler, further weakening the castings. Don't get me wrong, I think Forgeworlds sculpts are fantastic and the masters are stunning pieces. It's just the execution of the "mass" produced peices that have left much to be desired when compared with many, many other manufacturers who produce similar work, with much better results (Rackham, Battlefront, various manufacturers of resin scale model accessories etc...) for equivalent or cheaper prices.

I bought their their tech priest, the white resin, miscast rubbish that I declare utterly unsaleable.

Then I got their ripper swarms. It was so good, I thought it was plastic injection. Later I got an Alpha Legion rhino kit, and again perfection.

I haven't seen better quality resin casting than their new work. Again, it looks like plastic injection.

Most of the Daikanee stuff leaves me going 'meh' but that dragon is clearly the dog's bollocks. Now if only I didn't have a wife who would kill me for spending $250 on a single model. Oh wel, I guess I don't really need two whole kidneys...

Continuing the fine Devourer tradition of swords strapped to the chin.

Wow he looks great. Would have used another paint scheme though. This MONSTER will fit nicely into my Devourer Army. I would have expected a few more Blades poking out here and there however.

Now that's a halberd. More like a pole-axe.....thing.
