I'm relatively new to "the hobby" and I'm wondering, how would this list fare? I don't have too much $$$ so part of the point of the list is that it can be made out of two Necron Battleforces.

Well if you don't have too much $$$, you're going to have a problem with this list since Immortals aren't included in the battle force and are $10 a model...

As for the list I'd reccomend a ressurection orb for your Lord. Never ever leave home without one, especially in an army this suseptable to phase out. You really need more warriors, which is exactly what kind of list you can make out of two battle forces.

I've heard about converting up Immortals from regular Warriors, a scarab and some greenstuff, so I was planning on doing that. It might make for somewhat ugly Immortals, though.

Lord with Res. Orb and 40+ Warriors smacks... not of cheese, but a certain kind of boring, however, I see your point. I've been reading around a bit and trying to figure out what sort of balance there should be between the amount of shooty and the Necron count in a 1500 point list; I saw one with 30 Immortals, 20 Warriors and a Veil Lord, and I based my list on that setup.

If I were to lose the the Lord's current Wargear, the Scarabs, one Immortals squad, have the other squad split into two, and then put the points into more Warriors and a Res. Orb for the Lord, would that be preferable?

I'm not sure about converting Immortals from normal warriors, but if you think you can pull off some green stuff magic, I'd just suggest doing a single test model first and see how you like it.

Yeah a warrior hoard is boring, but you can still do very well with a boatload of warriors and some destroyers in the mix.

Every lord should have the Res orb, even ones with the Veil. I don't play necrons but I've played against them and I know that I would phase out or turn a loss into a win for me against my friends necrons if he didn't have a res-orb to keep doing the WBB.

IMO your best bet for the Necrons if your starting is to go with two battle forces and use that to start a simple army (even if it's a bit boring it won't be at first, it'll take a while before you get to the "boring point" and that happens with any small army). Eventually you can get the cash to buy a monolith which is a really nice model and also adds a lot of fun to the necron list.

Actually if you haven't bought anything yet, considering doing an order from one of the online shops that give you a 20% discount on stuff. With 20% off two battle forces you'd go a ways towards saving money to buy a 'lith which makes the army a lot more fun to play IMO.

Mobility is very fun in 40k. If you're just starting out with the two battle forces I'd suggest having two lords, a lot of warriors, some destroyers, and having at least one lord with the res orb and a veil to teleport around with. Mobility is very important in 40k and having that kind of mobility with your army can also make what would otherwise be relatively boring into something much more fun to play with.
