AdeptiCon News ? Looking Forward, Looking Back

<?

Its time to mark your calendars and begin making travel plans, because on March 30th through April 1st, 2007, AdeptiCon returns to the Chicagoland Schaumburg Marriott!  Although registration for AdeptiCon 2007 won?t open for a few months, hotel reservations can already be made by calling the Schaumburg Marriott at (847)240-0100 and asking for the "ADEPTICON" room rate ($84/night).

Planning for AdeptiCon 2007 has already begun!  The AdeptiCon Council has started the process of putting together this much-anticipated event.  Expect the return of some old favorites (like the 40K and Fantasy National Team Tournaments), as well as the introduction of new challenges (such as the AdeptiCon Battlefleet Gothic Championships).  Along with Hobby Seminars, the Rogue Demon competition, and other exciting events, AdeptiCon 2007 promises to continue building on our tradition of excellence, striving to live up to our motto: ?For Gamers, By Gamers.?

If you?ve never been to AdeptiCon, check out our AdeptiCon 2006 Retrospective, a 36-page e-booklet showcasing some of the most memorable events and scenes from the excitement that was AdeptiCon 2006.  We?ve got event pictures, army spotlights, and much more, including pictures of our Rogue Demon and tournament winners.

Full Retrospective: (11 mb)

Low-Bandwidth Retrospective: (2-4 mb each)

The full file is approximately 11 mb, but we?ve also split it into smaller, 9-page sections for your downloading convenience.  Acrobat Reader is required.

Stay tuned for more updates about the greatest GW hobby convention in the world!

Yes, but is Storm of Chaos going to be allowed for Fantasy players?!?

Rules will be argued over and posted by mid September/beginning of October. There is still some discussion with that... (Demonic Legion rules make sense, but do you allow that and ban slayers and Sea Guard? Or even worse, the Vampires with all the bound spells in a reduced magic environment?)

Hang in there amigo... More info will come as the council decides on it.

In the meantime, enjoy the retrospective on A-Con 2006.

But, how do I know how many more breasts I have to paint?!?

I do like the retrospective. Given that the 5th year is approaching, maybe we need a 5-year "looking back"issue, too? Adepticon has come a long way from the original.

The difficulty with a 5-year retrospective is that I've only got a decent number of pictures from 2007.

So Janth...think anyone who hasn't met us can determine which of us is which in our "Best Team Tacticians" picture?

Flatlander, no one uses pen or pencil anymore. It's all electronic now.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

I can't wait! Going to Adepticon last year totally changed my outlook on gaming and I hope to come back and prove myself.

Calander set, to be sure.

I don't suppose there's any chance of Adepticon ever featuring non GW events? I'm assuming that would preclude GW's involvement in the event...

That would be awesome if they did include non-GW events. But I'm cool with it if they don't. Frankly, the only time I even play 40k anymore is at Adepticon. I don't play Fantasy (blech--yucky system). But Adepticon is worth it The team tournament rocks.

Team Bloid has their room already

The hotel filled last year. Don't procrastinate. Seriously. Or you could be staying across the street for over $135/night instead of the group rate of $84.

I fully expect Adepticon to sell out the 90 40K tables & 50 WFB tables this year. Just trying to sqeeze in the BFG championship C99 is pulling for is going to be hard enough, let alone adding space for other game systems.

Last year I believe we sold out half our events...and we would have sold out all but one if we hadn't added another 18 Fantasy tables two days before AdeptiCon.

So I should not go to Adepticon, and go to Gencon instead, even though I want to play in the team tournament, and see all the cool Adepticon terrain, and participate in the Adepticon seminars?  That doesn't seem to make much sense....

So how many Dakkaites are coming to try and pry the Gladiator championship from my warm pudgy fingers?

Inquiring minds want to know.

IG is the army to beat this year... 'cause I'm playing it.

Okay then. Looks like there's three of us who'll be gunning for the first ever "2-time AdeptiCon Gladiator Champion" title.

Or someone else is going to earn the right to wear a smoking jacket.

Nope. Only two.

Hank is running the show.
Fred has a prior commitment. Something about dollar bills and college girls.

Just you and me fighting to be the first to have 2 smoking jackets.

Now if Ed and some of the other Dakkaites would come on out, we could really see who is top dog. Of course, most are probably scared to come and have the opportunity to play 11 games in three days... their heads might explode.

Hmmm. maybe I should auction my purple ticket on E-bay.

No Fred? That's too bad.

You know, we could always do something really silly...like take identical armies and see who ends up with a better record...

Then again, you've got all that nifty resin that I don't.

I defintely can't make it on Saturday, but since the date has moved back to my spring break there is a decent chance I can make it for Fridays Gladiator. We should get cracking on those jackets for that day and all of us wear them.
