I've played Marines and IG since I started 40K seven years ago.  I've decided to try Tyranids and thougth I would give the 'zilla list a try.  This is my first attempt and I appreciate any positive feedback/suggestions.  My intention with this list is to have the HT set up for assault to move with the Genestealers.  Everything else is shooty.

1750 Pts - Tyranids

HQ:
1 Hive Tyrant @ 188 Pts - Adrenal Glands +1 In; Adrenal Glands +1 WS; Toxic Miasma; Toxin Sacs +1 St; Winged; Scything Talons (x2);  Synapse Creature; The Horror; Warp Blast

Elite:
1 Carnifex @ 111 Pts - Toxin Sacs +1 St; Twin-linked Devourer (x2)
1 Carnifex @ 111 Pts - Toxin Sacs +1 St; Twin-linked Devourer (x2)

Troops:
10 Genestealers @ 270 Pts - Extended Carapace +1 Save; Toxin Sacs +1 St; Rending Claws; Scything Talons
10 Genestealers @ 270 Pts - Extended Carapace +1 Save; Toxin Sacs +1 St; Rending Claws; Scything Talons
10 Genestealers @ 270 Pts - Extended Carapace +1 Save; Toxin Sacs +1 St; Rending Claws; Scything Talons

Heavy Support:
1 Carnifex @ 213 Pts - Bonded Exoskeleton; Enhanced Senses +1 BS; Regenerate; Twin-linked Venom Cannon
1 Carnifex @ 213 Pts - Bonded Exoskeleton; Enhanced Senses +1 BS; Regenerate; Twin-linked Venom Cannon
2 Biovore @ 104 Pts - Toxin Spore Mines

Total Roster Cost: 1750

First the Hive Tyrant ? it is a good price for what it can do, the other option is two devourers, more shooting don?t know if that is what you want, otherwise a scary CC thing to go forward.

The two elite fex?s need the Enhanced Senses, it makes for more hits and more wounds.

I don?t think that the Stealers need the STR up, it costs points that can go twards more stealers. I have herd lots of people say that the talons on the stealers makes them cost too much, and I sometimes agree, I think they pretty much win on the charge, so 20pts each with the additional save is a good stealers set up. Also think about slightly smaller 8 man and more broods

Biovores are a personal option so don?t let me say they are wasted, but seem like could be other points, the HS fex?s hopefully will not need regenerate it costs a lot of your list.

The Nid Mc list that I hit all the time is lots of shooting a choir and lots of stealers, and it does very(x2) good in games because it can take out most targets with shooting, and the charge from the stealers and the choir usually has squads running when they lose combat. Also makes you pick what you shoot at, if you shoot the MC you get charged, if you shoot the Stealers you get shot to death.

That however is just what I have seen, I also hear ravagers do amazing things due to their speed.

Hope this is somehow helpful without being seen as too this is what to do to win.

There are several key issues with this army list.

The first is, you haven't maximized the Godzilla in your Godzilla list. Why not? Having the maximum amount of T6 3+ save wounds in a Godzilla army is what puts the maximum amount of pressure on your opponents.

You should have a 2nd walking shooty Tyrant (with Tyrant Guard), a third Dakkafex, and if you aren't going to take a third Heavy Support Carnifex, you should invest in 3 Zoanthropes instead of the terrible Biovores.

Besides that, several things in your list are very troubling:

1) Why do your Dakkafex's have +1 Strength? The maximum strength of a Devourer is already capped at 6, so adding +1 Strength does absolutely nothing for your shots.

2) Why have you upgraded your stealers with +1 Strength and +1 A? Added strength doesn't assist their rending ability which statistically is where you'll do the most damage via any MEQ army. Against non-MEQs Genestealers shouldn't have any trouble tearing through them without the +1 Strength anyway.

Genestealers simply don't have trouble defeating their opponents in combat, so why put more points into them via +1A when they remain just as easy to kill with shooting? It isn't a wise use of points.

Also, the Genestealers simply will not be able to keep up with the flying Tyrant (unless you get really lucky on your Fleet rolls). More importantly, you'll need to keep the stealers back with your Carnifexes to protect them from being charged by the enemy to silence their guns.

3) Your Heavy Support Carnifexes are a mess. Have you read my article on equipping your Carnifexes? It is in the "articles" section of this forum (up top along the toolbar). I think it should give you some insight on why some of your choices are less than optimal.

Twin-linking Venom Cannons is a terrible waste of points since it costs double the amount of a single Venom Cannon. You are much better off taking a Barbed Strangler and a Venom Cannon to maximize the ability of your Carnifex.

Thanks for the feedback so far...some very good points. I will re-do the list this evening after work and repost.

Just keep the stealers with extended or they get WAY to expensive and please make the psychic power on the flying tyrant a warp field, it helps sooooo much(at least for me).

hehe, this looks like the IG point of view to a new tyranid list.
1) we want to shoot
2) we need those better tanks

a few things that might be redundant to what has been posted.

1 Hive Tyrant @ 188 Pts - Adrenal Glands +1 In; Adrenal Glands +1 WS; Toxic Miasma; Toxin Sacs +1 St; Winged; Scything Talons (x2); Synapse Creature; The Horror; Warp Blast

there is a fine hair splitting discussion about the +1ws and toxic miasma. the 2 enemy WS you have to look at are 3 and 6. if he has 3, then you need toxic miasma to lower him to 2, which will lower his chances to hit from 4+ to 5+. if he has 6 you need adrenalin glands AND toxic miasma to increase your chance to hit and lower his (compared to equal WS).so in the end : take only toxic miasma unless you expect some enemy with WS6, which doesnt happen quite often. if it comes to "what you see is what you get" i would model them. well I 6 is also something you do not need much.

raveners : hmm stealers do the same but cheaper, meaning with a slightly better ability to withstand fire. there point is : the look cool.

ah yes, and the 2nd HT. the HT is just your best unit, you cant have enough. i would go with the 2x TL devourer walking, +s, 2 or 3 guards, toxic miasma variant.

hf with the swarm!

A pretty solid list, but with a couple head-scratchers still:

1) The Walking Tyrant. A Warp Field is a tremendous waste of points. Extended Carapace would accomplish the same feat but for less points, why would you take a Warp Field? More importanly, a 2+ save isn't very necessary because with the two Tyrant Guard and the mixed armor rules you will get little chance to really use the 2+ save.

Taking x2 Devourers on the Walking Tyrant is a mistake IMO. You should really sitck with a Venom Cannon and a single TL Devourer. This is because in Escalation Devourer armed creatures will take several turns to get into range when they come on from Reserve. While you don't have a choice with the Dakkafex, you don't have the point limitation on a Hive Tyrant.

For the Tyrant Guard, you might as well take Flesh Hooks at 1 pt a piece just in case (they are just too cheap not to take).

2) 8 Genestealers with no Carapace? What's the point? That is going to be the unit that the enemy targets first and obliterates. You would be much better off going with either another Dakkafex, or a big unit of Spinegaunts to soak up a charge and shooting from failed target priority tests.
