Okies,
    Please keep in mind these rules have had play testing but not against a full 1500 pts force or anything like that. But have been through some giant skirmishes with some nifty results and memorable moments.

As to the rather complete weapon list I like continuity (even when uberising guns) so I did them all to make sure they worked in their respective groups... But I did try a Real Marine gunned predator once Auto cannon and Hvy Bolters (hehehehe)

Anyway, I would like to quantify a point system for them and dakkites seem to the only bunch I would trust with this. Also would like some feed back on these guys vs a tourney style army etc...

Not to mention what you think in general and stat tweaks

Usiel - Enjoy!

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->Special Rules

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]-->Universal Rules:
All Marines have the following Universal Special Rules.
And They Shall Know No Fear
True Grit (Bolters Only)
Acute Senses
Counter-Attack
Feel No Pain
Infiltrate

Indirect Fire:
Marines using blast template weapons are trained to use the weapon to maximum effect, sometimes targeting the ground among enemies instead of an individual. Marines do not have to place the centre of a blast template over a model.

Deadly Fighters:
Marines are considered always armed for close combat, whether they are using a sol pattern combat knife or their bare power armoured fists a marine is lethal. Marines are considered to always have an additional close combat weapon.

One Squad Army:
Each marine in a squad may fire at separate units and targets but must make the usual Ld tests for closest target etc.

Rather than a squad basis, how about a "1 Marine per x points of enemy" standard? That way, it can scale for smaller and larger games. Maintain the restrictions like a squad (1 special/heavy weapon per 5 Tacticals, etc.).

Seems like a fun concept to me. Nothing to take too seriously, though.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

Let me just say this, many people are already complaining about how they feel marines are broken as in to powerful. Now your proposeing to make marines that can go toe to toe with greater demons and hive tyrants with their bare hands. Why not make them monsterous creatures while your at it. may be these could make good stats for Primarchs of the founding chapters but it's way over done for regular marines. you would be looking at a basic marine costing around 150-160pts and being three to four times the size they are now.

Hmm... why not just play with the HQ choices and no force organization chart? Allow 1/10 Captains to buy a heavy weapon at Devastator prices with Heavy = Heavy of original gun + Attacks, possibly limit the number of bikers, Terminators and/or Jump Pack characters. If you had 14 players, a cool mega-battle type scenario might be to provide a stockade and maybe a few conscripts as a "village," with seven of the players bringing 40k in 40 min armies of non-Marine and preferably non-Imperial exraction, and the other seven allowed to take a single Space Marine character with any wargear, or a Space Marine Special character. Play until the heroes are dead or time is up.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

@aauugh: These would be "fluff Marines", the ones described in the fluff as being able to take on hundreds of IG with one hand behind their back, the ones who wade through whole Waaaaagh!s with one Company. There have already been "official" rules for stuff like this, but since not everyone has access to WD 300, why shouldn't we come up with some silliness of our own?

@lord_sutekh: That's a great idea, but as I said they haven't been in any serious games (cough, cough aauugh) so ATM it's hard for me to gauge what points is appropriate. But hey, that's what this thread is about. So go play test em' and let me know what you think would be good. I like the 1 Marine per x pts of enemies, 1 Hvy Weapon Marine Per x Marines idea a lot.

@wight_widow: That sounds nifty, post some rules for it. This doesn?t have to be a one movie marine system thread?

@Commander Usiel: Hey do you remember building a system to crush ALL other armies? No, no I don?t. Okay good, I just hope people stop getting that impression otherwise we know where this thread will go. Yeah me too.

Cheers, keep up the good ideas?

these rules are cool. increase the range on the guns though as really they need to be bolt pisto 24, bolter 36, heavey bolter 48 etc.

sorry the GW weapons str seem fine bolters at St6 cool. assualt 4 for a bolter is good but then a storm bolter needs to be assualt 8. as for anybody complainig about this thread dont bother. i have seen stupid rules threads were people try to accuratly balance armies. they cant do thats. this is more fun to have bad *donkey*powerful marines that you can have a light hearted game with

Make the pain stop...

This topic is NOT titled DA MOSTESED LEET PWNING MARINES OF DOOM EVAR !!!!!!111ONE11!!1!

Anyone who wishes to add to this topic PLEASE READ what is written in the start of the post. These rules are intended as a more balanced replacement to the ridiculous ones published in WD.

Again thank you to everyone who has taken an interest and made contributions.

real marines, the best thing to do would be to make guardsmen weaker

ws2 bs2 s2 t2 i2 ld5 6+
if those were human stats, then
ws/bs/s/t/i 4 becomes much more superhuman

it also leaves monsters like chaos and tyranids, or other aliens like Eldar and Orks at the same competitive strength vs marines
