Hm, I'm not sure what to think of this. One way I like the idea to have more missions (maybe with specific rules) and some new models (of course we need moar marinnghz! ), otoh why should I pay for a summary of ideas I can easily gather in forums? Those are probably more balanced /playtested ( GW playtesting...) and for free.
At worst it will hinder the releases of codices, at best it adds a nice touch to small games. The latter would be a surprise as you wouldn't need to buy new/ more models... Well, we'll see.

Dare to be stupid!

I believe that it would add quite a bit more fun to social gamers who just follow what's written.. or people who just play the mission "KILL KILL KILL MAUL BURN RAPE STAB etc etc"

Has anyone stopped to ask why they are announcing this so far ahead of time when other more imminent products still do not have good previews released? Curious.

/Facetiousness on...

I wonder if this is a way to go after those that do write custom missions. Release a book that has a ton of objectives/missions, then send a C&D to any site who has posted custom missions as they now infringe on GW IP and trademarks!? Sounds just like a GW legal scheme!

/Facetiousness off.

Yet more marine stuff eh?

Besides Master of the Forge, we're also missing a key model.

Ko'Sarro Khan. On a freakin' bike.

Anywhoo, nice to see the new Guard and Ork Stuff, and I'm certainly going to purchase Battle Missions.

I don't think so, as the current metals of the Libby/Chaplain are still circulating.

Nope, too busy squeezing every last tenuous drop of possible forthcoming release news from this rare leak. I heard that the mission book heralds the release of Codex: Harlequins

So they can one up the typical Internet leaks and announce it early? Like I wish they would actually do? Regardless, I really like the idea of a mission book. I remember most 3rd ed codeces had a special mission in the back - never got around to playing any of them, but they sounded cool.

As for the new kits, the only hint we've got is the basilisk in the picture. If someone has said the same things I'm about to say, I apologize:

- The side armor is much thinner than the regular Chimera side armor, and more in line with the Hellhound.
- Notice the stowage hatches on the side armor.
- I'm guessing that the Hellhound chassis sprue will be included with a recut cannon sprue, hopefully featuring one or two other gun options.
- And, well, the earthshaker cannon looks the same, but it already looked good so I don't mind.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Yeah I'm beginning to think that the Basilisk bitz are going to be re-cut as opposed to re-sculpted.

Pity that.

I don't see an issue with that, though.

The Basilisk has really kept itself in there. It's still one of the better Guard armor kits. The only thing I could see them really doing is a variant gun shield, the Medusa cannon and some actual loader models hauling a shell up.

Nothing wrong with that - just a bit odd, that's all. My fear is that it won't come with any other arty kits, though I consider that unlikely (Medusa for sure, maybe Colossus).

I haven't actually seen a Colossus, to be honest. The description reminded me of an upscaled Medusa though.

I still say though, a Hydra/Manticore kit would be the best combination in that regards. Heck, you could even have the Deathstrike packaged in that way!

If they were re-sculpting then the medusa will be easy - it's pretty much a bassy with a little barrel.

The Colossus appears to be a Bombard on a Chimera Chassis. Not really sure how that'd look as a model though - the Bombard is very cool, but it's a Russ variant.

I'm pretty sure that new Basilisk kit will feature more than just the regular Basilisk. Here's hoping for at least the inclusion of the Medusa and fingers crossed, the Griffon.

Ah yes, forgot about the Griffon.

This is the problem with having so many new units in your Codex - none of them ever get any models. We get a Basilisk and Griffon kit. And Medusa? Does that mean the Colossus is stand-alone? Or a Bassie/Griffon kit, then a Medusa/Colossus kit. Then a Manticore/Hydra kit. What about the Death Strike? And this is before we even get to the Vanquisher, Exterminator and Eradicator. Is the new Russ kit (assuming there even is one) going to have four variant turrets in it? And then there's the Chimera...

I can excuse the Vendetta, because I'm 100% certain that was invented long after the Valk kit was finalised, but my God it's like 2nd Ed and early 3rd all over again.

From the look of things, the new Russ kit will feature four weapon load-outs. If I have to go by stupid-logic I'd say look in the codex, the art of the four remaining patterns share the same turret design. It's the same story with the Demolisher kit really, all you need is four different barrel sets and presto, quick and easy kit that can be used to represent as much as possible.

But with the Artillery boxed set, I really, really hope that parts for the Griffon are included. I'm fielding one right now and the little darling has been performing so marvellously that I'm seriously considering fielding a whole squadron of them. Only downer is of course, only FW is selling them right now and while the look good, I'm not that interested in trying my luck with FW any further. At least not until IA8 is upon us.

I'm thinking that the Deathstrike and Colossus are two of those models that aren't going to happen any time soon or will most likely be tackled by Forge World. Or if GW is in a very generous mood, make some suggestions on how to best convert the fethers up. A Hydra/Manticore kit on the other hand is plausible, if a long way off. Unless GW plans on surprising us.

God I hope this one is true! And the complete artillery kit for IG. I don't even care about Storm Troopers or Rough Riders anymore, just give me all my artillery!

I can't remember but doesn't the basilisk already have the cannon stuff on a separate sprue? I'm betting the "new" kit will just be the old cannon sprues with the new Hellhound chimera chassis, thats what it looks like to me.

Well, it should be a coimbined kit. It's not hard to imagine that these can share the same box:

Or more importantly, the same couple of sprues. The Demolisher kit and Hellhound kit show how easy it is for them now to put the parts for multiple variants on very few sprues and by doing so they are able to ask for a premium price that many hobbyists are willing to pay. A 3-variants-in-1 SPA kit for some of the remaining IG models would be cool and likely be a good seller in spite of the likely $49.50 US price.
