My opponent who was all of about 14, must been frightened so bad that when he was rolling his ld test the two big apoc dice flew across the board knockin a shield drone about 5 foot away, and the other knocking my coffee off the table as well, it was almost empty.
Same ork player, this past friday. I took my small daemon army out for the first time. And while the 9th/10th painted unit of bloodletters were slaughtering the weak down the right flank. My teammate the ork player's gut smacked Skulltaker to the floor, breaking into 5 parts(magnets included) Guilt trip is ongoing.
What could you magnetize on Skulltaker besides his feet?
His right foot to the pile of skulls. And the small square base for wfb that sits on his 40k base. I'm trying to do one model for all the ways he can be used: wfb, 40k, chariot, juggy.
Ahh, okay. I didn't know if special characters could take magic gear in fantasy or something.

Sure if I said yes and you broke it, it is my fault for saying yes. But I don't like people touching my stuff without notifying me, that's how things get stolen.

Haven't been back since, looking for a closer FLGS
This
Back when I lost contact with the hobby three years ago it was due to this, they got a new manager in and he wouldn't allow us to even stay and watch a friend's game because we weren't doing anything. I hated that guy so much, didn't care a thing for any of the regulars, only about new sales.
Went back recently and the guy is there no more, so can only assume wasn't cut out for the job So may give it another chance now.

Fixed
Seriously, I hate this. It boils my piss. If it's a kid it's a little more understandable - I'll just give them a stern word about touching things that don't belong to them. I'm actually a really relaxed and friendly guy when it comes to wargaming - if someone asks, sure open my case, take a look, pick up whatever you want.
But if an adult does it without asking? That I can't tolerate. It's my property and you are a stranger. I would have no problem smacking someone over that.

My worst experiance was only last week. I went down to my GW to play a game of 'munda with one of the staff. Anyways we started playing, and all was well, then, i go off to have lunch, and when we got back, my kroot hounds, and my brand new krootox were missing. Aswell as the staffs entire gang. We spent ages looking for them, hoping desperately that one of the staff had moved them accidently, but too no avail. eventually, it turned out that one of the regulars saw a sweaty kid fiddling with them, before leaving fast....
Sad times i have to say, and the staff there WERE very apologetic. T'was sad times though.

There's a local game store where the owner seems to be something of a serial liar.
For one thing he likes to overuse the term "limited edition". Over the years he's told me a number of different items are limited edition when they weren't. And, in fact, he's even sent out email newsletters falsely labeling certain items as limited edition.
A couple times I've gone there looking for a specific product, and when they don't have it in stock the owner has tried to tell me it was "out of print." And then, of course, it turns out not to be true. He apparently just doesn't want me to go to any of his competitors to buy anything.
I think the most blatantly deceptive thing he ever did was when I went in and bought a couple new Rackham products. Rackham is a French company. I was the only one in the store, so I had his attention, and he was in a chatty mood. He told me he had accidentally priced the new Rackham items in Euros -- or something like that -- because the price list he got with the order was messed up. He said he had fixed all the prices. I get up to the register to buy a couple of the new Rackham items. He talks and talk and talks. I didn't realized what he was doing until after I left because he was distracting me with conversation, but while he was talking to me he took out his price gun and (while hidden from my view behind the counter) he re-priced the two items I'd just handed to him, and then sold them to me at the higher price. (I realized at the time he was pricing *something*, I just assumed it was some unrelated product...) Supposedly, that was the correct U.S. price. I wouldn't have had a problem with it if he'd told me about it, but secretly changing the price tags after I handed them to him? Wow.
So, obviously, I don't buy much there anymore. I've gone back a few times lately and his stocking plan just seems strange. He has a ton of certain high price items (he just got a big stack of Baneblades and big stack of Ork Stompas,) but he had no black primer and next to nothing for certain armies....
Sorry... this isn't actually a "worst experience." Feels good to rant, though.

I tend to very rarely visit GW stores. I have never really had a bad experience with them. When I was younger I loved them, don't get me wrong I was never there for any long periods of time nor did I participate in any store events, it was just the attitude of the staff. They wanted you to be there, and they had real passion/interest in their job. Seeing peoples models was great, I was a polite/quiet kid so it really just was seeing.
The closest to a bad experience I have had was probably a discussion with one of the staff (I was about 12 at the time) and he asked me. "Why I had picked Tau (Over Marines)", to which I replied "They look much more advanced and the battle suits are pretty cool". Awkwardness ensued as the guy shook his head and tried to explain why an alien race that had anti-gravity tech was less advanced than track based tech. Implying I was an idiot for making that assumption. So it wasn't much of a discussion, more of this chap being an ass. I still bought the Tau codex, so HA!
The first store I was talking about was the Glasgow one, before it moved. Anybody know what the new one is like? I have been in a few times but not for years though. The last time I passed the store was packed (Usually is when I stroll by) so I choose to avoid the loud goings on within. Any of the original staff from the store still there or...?

I wish I could truly participate in this thread, but alas, I have no real horror stories to tell about my FLGS... because I have never known one.
Instead, I had an ULGS, briefly. This place was small, poorly lit, and grubby. Everything in it was ancient, and overpriced (Lootas for $45). The staff, such as it was, made sure to go out of their way to make you feel you were interrupting their game of solitaire or World of Warcraft if, after passing that gauntlet, you wanted to pay for your stuff. This was the only place around me that sold 40k stuff, so I felt I had to go a time or two, but after the second time of this I realized that this was garbage and didn't go again... until my wife drove by one day and saw that they were (perhaps inevitably) going out of business and having a 75% off sale. She went by pretty often so I was there within a day or two of this happening.
I went in that day, and there were two weird things - they had removed every 40k related item. That part of the store was literally bare wall. Not a paint pot nor a brush, let alone a mini remained.
The other odd thing was that when I went in, there was a girl sitting at the counter, as soon as you walked in, with her feet up at the counter wearing a really short skirt and reading a comic book. Now, I know from the way it sounds, you think I'm some typical nerd gamer/ lecherous jerk sneaking a peek. I assure you that, although i am a lecherous jerk, that would not be a valid explanation of the situation - This was really, really weird. I mean, when you walked into the store, two steps in you're essentially in the front seat of a gynecological examination - her feet are right by the register, 4 feet apart, like you're supposed to put the money in there or something.
What the hell. I'm 3 feet in and my wife was immediately shooting me eye-daggers from the parking lot, as she already refused to step foot in the store after the first time she went in and dared ask about a game and interrupt someone's adventures in Warcraft.

A staff member of my local gw suffered the same fate, he was painting up a new Gimli model for the lotr intro table, after a while he left to grab a new paint pot in the storage room for someone. and when he returned the Gimli was stolen. He was very angry that day.

It depends on the situation it is said in. Sure shouting things here and there can be real fun. I know a lot that scream for the emperor.
Or What is our profession followed by 3 large cheers (Taken from the movie 300, yes.) But in certain situations or with certain people that just isnt right.
For example with friends if you beat them you can stand up scream in your face then both laugh. Not with a stranger they will take it as if you truly mean it.

Best experience I had at at GW Store was one about 3-4 hours away from me. Me and my buddy decided to take a trip there on new years day it was out first trip to a GW store we were excited as all heck, talking 40k the ENTIRE way up there. I was ecstatic to be getting the new ork minis that were out ( battlewagon storm boys ect). When we get there we discover that the minis dont realease for another week or two. After talking to the manager, he was nice enough to hook me up with the minis before hand. He also gave me so HUGE painting tips despite me still being a terrible painter.
Worst experience is at my FLGS Non GW, everytime I go in there the employee who is a typical gamer 500 lbs smelly bad teeth hair that looks like it was dipped in a frialator, Takes for ever to ring you up he always sighs when you make him get up from "his chair" he also always F's up the special orders I have order a certain item on 3 occasions... each af ew weeks apart and when asked about it neither the owner nor the blob have any idea about it...then suddenly all three come in at once and when they informed me about it...I told them I already got it direct order.
Also the owner of said store while a pretty decent guy has a really annoying kid who i have been told by several people he is why they dont play there...and the owner will also taunt you while you are getting your face planted in games of 40k/warhammer. When he openly admits he doesnt play becuase he doesnt like being hassled when loosing. IF there was a store closer i would go there instead...but there isnt...

This should be quoted into eternity.
I've been known to say "WAAAGH!" during a turn here and there, but I'm not bellowing it. Just saying it around speaking volume; the same volume I'd use to make gun shooting noise and tank vroom vrooms. Unfortunately the group of whooping hollering Naruto players showed up again today. From what I've heard they were kicked out of another semi local hobby shop so they meet up at my store now. When they put on Cookie Monster death metal, I had to tell them to turn it down. I got out of there pretty quickly since their playlist managed to fall onto Fall Out Boy. I'm surprised people in their 20s listen to that terrible band.

Hmm... have only had recurring 'annoying' experiences that involve the manager.
Great guy, although he gets in these weird moods. Sometimes he's your best friend and can have a chat about anything (and I mean anything not just hobby-related) and other times he clams up and looks at you like you like you're a freak. The rest of the staff are good (actually all the staff are what I'd call 'mature')
Has been a crazy amount of 'awkwardness' in the store though. I rarely go in now unless I'm walking past at the mall (and even then the store has to be empty). Everything from the typical nerds screaming waaaaghs to a 140kg white guy reading the new SW codex, looking rather pale, and almost toppling one of the gaming tables as he passes out and hits the deck. When asked if he was okay after waking up 2 seconds later, he says it's probably his diet of '15 cups of coffee' a day. I remember when he fell in this sort of quasi-slow motion there was only myself, a friend and the staff and we all looked at each other thinking "Did... did that just ACTUALLY happen here?"
There was also the behaviour at the city store, where I walked in with a friend (2nd time ever after getting back into the hobby after 10yrs) and the 'kid' managing the store is literally screaming profanity at the top of his lungs on the phone to a helpdesk as the store pc won't boot up or something.
Also anytime my girlfriend walks into the store, there is the a-typical "OMG a girrrrl!"
...
I remember the first thing I said to the manager at my local store...
"Are there any local clubs that play maturely? Or have mature gamers at least?" He discreetly passed me an invite to their veteran nights (which I know are not THAT mature) but at least the rules to get into this night are 1) you have to know the basic rules AND your codex rules and 2) you're army MUST be painted to tabletop standard... so it sort of weeds out the younger crowd to an extent...

I hadn't had a bad experience yet till my game with SRM yesterday, which of course was a blast as always. We made the best of it and held strong to our corner of the room. It was pretty stressful watching TCG people all jacked up on cellophane bumping into the battle mat almost pulling models off the table every few minutes though. Also I knew we were in trouble when they asked how long till we were done ~ turn 2.
Far from the pleasant sanctuary we normally get in the back room.

At home while my wife is on the phone with her parents? Everytime.
OMG we had a group of naruto kids come in to our FLGS once cause they needed a new spot... They were annoying as feth so when one went to the bathroom he took off his "naruto armguards" so we hid them...
OMG most epic nerdrage ever. He was threatening to sue us and said his dad was a lawyer and all sorts of other crap if we didnt give them back...
His mom eventually came in and complained and said that this shop wouldnt be getting their business anymore. VICTORY!

So far nothing terrible about my nearest GW.
Only thing that happened at my nearest retailer was the woman asked my gf not to touch some of the stuff on the shelves unless she was buying it. Which seemed a bit stupid......and really pissed gf off.
Ever since gf has been anti WH in all forms. can't think why.....
Hoping nothing ever happens in my FLGS to make me thing "oh god I hate this"

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!
