Mechanicus 40mm base captain nearly complete

first attempt at pre-wash highlights, turned out OK I think, missed a few spots though now that i look at the pics

need to do some details, stylize the skulls and make the "beard" look more like wires pouring from the skulls open mouth, but the basic idea is there.

Looking good, may have to get that one for meself

He did require a good amount of cleanup, but it was all doable with a knife, not any sort of stupid greenstuff filling of gaps like FW stuff.
and the drill pods/tread kits are AWESOME!

I havent decided what other colors it needs, paint doesnt really make sense because it would just scratch off the moment the thing started drilling underground

Hey Grundz, nice concept and nice models. I have recently started player around with the idea of representing the Mechanicus part of a SM chapter myself. As a result I picked up some of Oyumaru/Instant Mould and took a cast of the Adeptus Mech symbol from the Manufactorium kit. Perhaps you could do something similar for you own stuff.

the issue is they are /huge/ they really can't fit on anything smaller than a land raider very easily.

I do have a bunch for when I start the GK chapter of admech though

I look forward to the GK stuff then, I suppose you're right about the sizing issue. As i'm running SM I find they fit perfectly on to the upper doors on the rhinos or on the rear ramps. How about for your Chimera transports though the should fit across the back top doors surely?

Yeah, about 2 pages back I sold all of my IG vehicles and am slowly replacing them with "walker" vehicles, still considering what I need to do for chimeras

how about a big spider-type thing, with troop carrier on 8 sentinel legs?

I am actually considering some sort of hatchback sort of addition to the spider tanks, or picking up some maxmini transports depending on what the GK codex does which will determine if I need razorbacks or not

I agree- replace the main cannon for a troop-holding area, with maybe metal rungs/ladders going off either side, similar to the mumaks from LOTR, but obviosly with a giant mechanical spider and ramps, not a giant elephant and ropes.

Not much progress, I finished the plasma turret for the plasma stalker and based it, need to upgrade the armor on its front legs so it looks a little heavier duty (though it is significantly larger due to the 6 legs)

Finished basing and creating the first quad autocannon turret for the smaller spider Having some difficulties with the magnets on this one.

Finished the other 3 termites

Going to try and build up the drive to start on the 75 or so infantry waiting to be painted this week.

Kinda hard to tell from the pic but I think I like the first stalk tank better. I agree that the termite would look good with hazard stripes.

Well, I suppose it's up to me to be the dissenting voice, the one that makes sense...
I like the work so far on the stalk tank, but it still seems very choas defiler, notably with the red and silver scheme hearkening to khornate blokes, or any number of defilers in the same vein. But! Still a cool concept, and my feelings on the ST-500 should change once you add the very Mechanical and very Loyal armament to it.

it does look substantially less defiler-y with the turret and side sponson "legs" attached, but yeah, if you are familiar with the defiler shape there's nothing I can do about that, I'm not that good of a modeler by any stretch of the imagination.

I just realized that Grey Knights would make a great counts as codex for mechanicus. Lots of dreads, various tanks, henchmen for the menials, lots of weird weapons and such. Lots of Psychic powers too of course, so you'd have to justify that somehow.

maybe a unifying paint scheme could do the trick?
