i agree! i like the idea, but i would have went with imperializing the bloodcrusher rather than bulking it up with fur. but maybe that would be too mechanical for you?

What I'm looking for is a mechanised Thunderwolf, that where using the Bloodcrusher as a base originally sprang from. The easy option would have been "imperializing the bloodcrusher", but that would have just looked the reverse of most Chaos stuff. Also as I've never sculpted before, I wanted to give that a go, and fur seemed a simple place to start.

Any way here's the rough background:
The Lycan left the Fang with a few Thunderolf's as a gift from the great lord.
Over time their numbers have diminished, obviously.
Recognising their fearsome abilities in battle Buliwyf Asgradsson commissioned the Iron Priest with ensuring that the remaining beasts would not be lost to the Chapter and were to use all their skills to cyberise those remaining but keeping has much as possible of the former self's.

that makes sense. i do like the trying of it and the concept, and there prob is a way to make it work really well. I understand the issue with imperializing it. i would like to see how the rest go!

Good job. But the lore is kinda of an iffy for me. I absolutely hate people that say space wolves are evil! The only chapter i believe that is closest to chaos is the ultramarines!

Gee I cannot remember where I stated that Space Wolves were EVIL, what I naively stated that they were codex wise the closest to Chaos, but please bear in mind that I did not have a copy of the codex at that time, (which I only picked up this weekend).

Lets not get started on the Ultramarines...........there enough said

Rump and tail of the beast are final completed, much to my dogs relief, if he had to walk around the sitting room for much longer I'm sure he would either have fallen over or bitten me, and knowing him it would have been the latter.

Cyberwolf Cavalry, now there's a neat take on TWC.

I'm a little unsure about both the shoulder fur and the thickness of the tail close to the base.

The shoulder needs to have a little more definition. Perhaps by bringing in the front of the fur a touch so it naturally follows the anatomy of the Jugg a little more.

With the tail it may just be the camera angle but to me the thickness is a little too consistent through the length of the tail. Perhaps building the end of the tail a little more might be an option.

Hope that helps, keep up the good work.

Thanks for your in put, I came to a simular opinion on the shoulder I believe I rounded off the shoulders too much to start with. Though on the tail, I can truthfully say it's the camera angle, but then my dogs tails farly consitant to all but the very last inch or so.

I may attempt to put some defination in the shoulder, look like my dogs in for a hard time again.

The beast is finished, woolly mammoth or not, I like it., I did have a go at modelling paws, but unfortunately my sculpting skill only go so far.

Now for the rider, does anyone have an idea what would be the the best weapons for the rider to take?

I dont mind the head. The lack of paws does take away from it a bit. Does look much better with the head on, and primed.

I saw another thread, think it might be hamhamlunchbox's space wolves. They suggested lion paws from lions of chrace chariot models..... don't know if that helps you out at all

Thanks, not a bad idea, but it's adding more cost onto the model, £15 just for paws............. maybe if I win the lottery.

Now any ideas for the rider?

Or if you have something to trade, i am sure there are high elf players out there who havent used the lions..... you might be able to swap something rather than buy the models outright

I think this is amazing work and I love the paint scheme.... btw I wouldnt worry too much about successor chapters and stuff............ just do what you do and enjoy it. It's original and very impressive.

Btw there is another wolf chapter out there and they are not a successor as far as I know... the Red Wolves.

Very nice work so far, defiantly be keeping an eye on it, the cyber wolves look amazing! I particularly liked the fluff, it fitted into the 40k background very well. BTW is "Countess Palin" meant to be a reference to anyone? :p

Thanks for your praise,
The background story was created with joint input from several people, with a large amount of help from Gunzhard, "Countess Palin" was his idea, never thought to ask.

Apart from Ruin Priest Skoll Helhiem, all of the character names are drawn from the movie 13th Warrior
Example - Buliwyf, is the lead of the warband, he demonstrated that leadership requires more than just strength and Buliwyf is strong, but he is also intelligent, cunning, aware, quick witted, caring, forceful, and wise, what more could I ask for in a leader.

Lol. true.... I think the red wolves homeworld is bloodfall on the edge of the segmentum solar.

Anyways..... The point is although there are no official successors for the SW's there is scope to create a Chapter which can draw on them for inspiration... and be allied to them. I love the fluff you have written ( i am making a bran redmaw model now from my converted ragnar model)... I really like what you are doing so keep it up.

And the 13th warrior is a cracking movie, i have it on dvd... the music is very viking and good to get you in the mood for making wolves of all ilks.

Can anyone tell me how to use dakka gallery instead of photobucket to put my pics on my blog please?

Ok, so no input on the rider.
Thankful Dakka's Space Wolves Tactica helped a little.

So here the first completed model, all that's needed now is a little paint............
Before I paint this model, I've committed myself to finishing the Grey Hunters and Wolf Guard Terminator squads I started some weeks back. So there's still plenty of time for your ideas, suggestions and criticism to further impact on the finished model.

Thanks to all for the comments so far, believe it or not they help.

First completed, so does that mean more blood crusher based thunderwolves or is this the alpha wolf and you have other conversion ideas?

The Bloodcrushers come in packs of 3 so, there will be 2 more.
I have looked through the net at various different models for conversions, and bearing in mind the fluff I've drawn up for this chapter, a full flesh and blood beast is just out of place.

I've not touched the Thunderwolf since the last post as I've been working on the Grey Hunter unit, that is now finished.
Time allowing I post some pictures, that's if i can drag myself away from Fable 3.
