I don't know which is more worrying, the levels of ignorance of some statements here or the levels of fallacy people will stoop to to defend this.
If you think people are "BAAAAAAWIN" or being "nerd-ragers" because they make a passing complaint over the lateness of this information go ahead. Don't make stupid comments about how they are excused because it was their suppliers fault not theirs. Imagine if this werent a dvd and were train tickets for example and you had been told the shipping would be delayed a few hours before the day they were suposed to be sent was over, and your train left the next day. Do you think if you called up to complain the people you bought the tickets from about the lateness of the "forewarning," they could get away with the line: "oh it wasn't us it was the guys we get to print the tickets"? No don't be silly. A company is subject to it's suppliers.
If they'd been told literally just 24 hours before themselves... Then I don't think anyone's gonna be happy really.
Read the threads. The website posting was seen on Friday and then quickly removed. Why? They obviously knew then they could not deliver and presumably had done for a while as the post had already been prepared. Not then finally posting this until after close of business on the 29th was just sticking two fingers up to everyone they had already taken money off!
If they'd had given warning as soon as they knew then the bad press would have been massively lessened ...
Would've done but the cold weather made the tears solidify; horrible trying to parse through that mush.
Fair does then.

To hear some of this talk, you'd think this was a deliberate act of terrorism on the part of Codex Pics--some kind of satanic rite of passage to join GW in Hell's own plot of ensuring no one ever enjoys toy soldiers anywhere. (I bet some of you tell your children there is no Santa Claus because Jervis Johnson murdered him.) I realize that some of the so-called apologists throw reason to the wind but the vitriol with which others have set up GW as their own personal nemesis is hardly rational. And now to draw in an unrelated company because of its connection to GW through a licensing agreement? Lunacy. It's unfortunate that this release has gone poorly. It's not surprising--and no, not because GW is actually run by Hitler's head plugged into Stalin's body powered by the tears of orphans. It's not surprising because Codex is apparently rather new to this sort of business. So bummer. Sure. Well, whatever. I'm just an apologist. Tinfoil hats back on everyone!

Manchu lol, that was the most excellent X-mas tale I've heard since I was a tot lol!
'GW is actually run by Hitler's head plugged into Stalin's body powered by the tears of orphans'
EPIC.
LOL!
Just for the record though, since your post seemed to adress certain points I made, I don't lump in Codex with GW at all as they have made their respective relationships to one another quite clear. However, I don't understand the sense in the 'Delay? Who cares stop whining just get on your knees and thank God you got to pay for a 40k movie you will get at an indeterminate point!' line of reasoning lol. I dunno, it just seems a shame every thread someone expresses any kind of displeasure with anything, whether they back it up logically or not, immediately results in 3 posts crying 'whining', followed by 16 pages of argument lol.

Personally, I feel the term " GW apologist" is a rather.....extreme label for those of us who don't want to burn GW at the stake (No offence, but H.B.M.C. seems the most outspoken and vehement towards GW)....I'm not an "apologist", I just support the movie and GW and don't see the Devil behind their every act.

As a Catholic living in an era when clergy cannot get away with child molestation, I am rather used to being an apologist. Trying to explain away irrational anger regarding GW and companies that license its properties is nothing by comparison. It's not to say that GW doesn't make mistakes. (I think I was one of the first people to say that the new DE models weren't all that great.) And there are some rational reasons to be angry with these companies. But I don't think this is one of those cases. Of course it's disappointing. Saying it's not disappointing is silly. But it's much sillier to insist that Codex is purposely trying to screw its customers over.

100% agree with you, and yes, it is the interwebs, where everyone looks in the mirror and see's Arnold's body with Hawking's IQ lol.
Anyhoos, I state my case strongly usually in these kinds of threads, but I always worry that people think I'm a GW basher... I have loved that company since I was a kid, and they receive a good deal of my coin. I read their books, paint their minis and enjoy communities like this one. If GW farts though, I do believe that if everyone agrees it was indeed a fart, that if some people think it smells disagreeable they are allowed to say so, just as those who don't mind the aroma are allowed to say they don't.
This one is merely softly pungent in my book, but if the delay goes beyond a pre-xmas delivery, we may end up with a class 5 room-clearer lol!

@Ouze: You have no idea how guilty I felt about not liking those Wyches. The Warriors are amazing, however.
I've been feeling the same way about these haggard old SMs in this movie, actually. I was really looking forward to being able to watch this myself and say "yak and lego and red and everyone are right that this isn't too bad." So I am very disappointed. It would be better if we knew when the thing might come but I very much understand why Codex would be shy about pinning it down at the moment.

Update:
As we advised yesterday, due to a production issue outside our control, we were not able to start shipping the complete Ultramarines DVD collector’s set on November 29th 2010 as planned.
We have teams in the UK, US and Europe working around the clock to resolve the issue.
At this time, we are hoping that orders can start to ship next week. In the meantime, we will keep you informed as soon as we receive more information.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for this delay to you receiving your Ultramarines DVD.
Sincerely,
Codex Pictures
So, here's to next week.

Relevant example:
On Tuesday I purchased a trio of books from Amazon as a present and payed for them to be guaranteed delivery before 1300 Tuesday. At 1305 yesterday I has still not received them and hence they had failed to deliver on time I sent an email to Amazon and received a full refund within 10 minutes. If I pay for something to arrive on a certain date it damn well better be there or I'm getting my money back.
a
In business if one of my families company suppliers fail to deliver on time then they will pay a penalty either through our company changing supplies or by compensation: that is the way business works if you can't accept that you aren't in the real world.
On the adverse weather: if there is nothing in the contract clarifying that adverse weather may affect delivery then you are liable for the delay. If one of your suppliers is affected then it is your fault and your problem because it is your name on the product and your contractual promise with the consumer to deliver by a certain date end of story.

That actually makes sense. Now if only there was some way Codex could tell us that complications had arisen due to inclement weather. You know, other than the two e-mails that have gone out which have yet to give an actual reason for the delay.
Maybe they just feel like it's none of the paying customers business? lol
MajorTom11 wrote:I dunno, it just seems a shame every thread someone expresses any kind of displeasure with anything, whether they back it up logically or not, immediately results in 3 posts crying 'whining', followed by 16 pages of argument lol.
It's pretty damn sad, yeah.
By the way, you guys have no clue what "nerd rage" is. None. Not if you think there was any in this thread.
I seriously can't fathom how anyone can look at how this thread started off and immediately jump to "nerd rage". It must have just been my posts, and if it was then that's really lol-worthy because, for one, I'm not butthurt for any fething reason. I'm "rabble-rousing", remember? I lost nothing, I was not inconvenienced in any way by this announcement, I basically just came in here so I could say "That's whack dawg" and disappear again. I just feel bad for the guys that pre-ordered, that's all.
And second, I'm one guy. So literally one person posted anything that could even remotely be classified as "nerd rage" by someone who doesn't know any better, and that now means EVERYONE is whining, stomping their feet, etc. etc.? Stop being stupid.
Finally, I am neither a GW apologist, nor am I a GW hater. I'm not afraid to point it out when they do good or bad, I'm not biased or one-sided in the least. If you think otherwise you've never paid much attention to anything I've posted, or you only hear what you want to hear, either one...
Manchu wrote:But it's much sillier to insist that Codex is purposely trying to screw its customers over.
I don't think a single person here has accused Codex of deliberately screwing people over (what would they be doing, holding back pre-orders on purpose while laughing maniacally about it?). The only thing I think anyone's actually accused them of (and that we apparently have evidence for), is knowing about possible complications ahead of time and choosing not to say anything until the last minute. That's what people are most disappointed about.
Yeah, they wanted to make absolutely sure that they wouldn't be able to get pre-orders out before saying something about it, I get that. But I still think it's better to let people know right away when complications arise, instead of waiting until the last minute. Apparently I'm not alone in thinking that, either.

I too ain't happy with the delivery delays, as it was to be a "sinterklaas" present (dutch santa version on the 5th of december) and won't make that date.
Its unfortunate and i'll need to look for another present now, but crying about it won't help any.
Considering its a production problem, i rather see them fix the problem and ship later (even if it is a major inconvenience to me) than get a faulty product on time that needs to be returned.
