I want to see their takes on the Blunderbuss units and the Bull Centaurs.

Chances are the models will come on sprues of ten models and in two variants: regular line troops and command sets.

Well with the full release of Kaos Dwarves coming in Feb, we'll probably get finalized pics of the sprues in Jan

I can't pull the trigger on ordering until I see actual models.

It may cost me more in the end, or it may save me a lot too!

The concept sketches look great, but, you never know.

I, too, would have liked that, and definitely it looks like the most positive feedback in this thread is for their most original idea- the steam/techno/wizard-thing. However, there's also the nostalgia affect, as Grimstonefire mentioned... I'd love to have a big hat, Lammasu-including army... although if they drop the ball on the Lammasu, it looks like raging heroes has that one covered!

Also... what a year for chaos dwarves, eh? Warhammer Forge making the land train (seemingly, from the WIP), Raging Heroes making the Lammasu... and Mantic making a whole range! Awesome 2011: The Year of the Chaos Dwarves!

Re: the naming contest. If anyone was worried, "Thunder-Rippers" is just a stand-in, and the contest is still going ahead.

Well model wise they have 2 tests but nothing else.

My guess is the red and bronze is going to win, though the verdigris(SP?) model looks nice as well.

Allot of people have been saying that the red is very unoriginal in a way that it's an obvious wargame colour and already screams GW Chaos Dwarves. Many have suggested that a green/gold scheme be used instead. Sounds like a very good idea to me!

It isn't like painting them green is going to effectively disguise what's going on here!

As far as I know everything Mantic release for Khaos Dwarfs is metal (including metal upgrades for the existing plastic Dwarf sets).

Compared to the regular dwarf huge army (Grafe's Iron Legion) you don't get a lot of figures for the Kaos Dwarf huge army. Is each army box based on points?

I imagine it's based on Mantic's metals costing four times as much as their plastics (12.5 pounds for 5 berserkers or 20 ironclads, for example).

Could be that they'll switch to plastic-resin hybrids sooner or later.

Both really. Sadly. But if they prove to be a success they might be turned into full plastic or hybrid kits.

We can hope right?

No. They went from metal to plasticy-resiny stuff. That's not the same stuff they use for the rest of their models, and not as cheap.

Ah ok. Must say I was a bit confused when my local mantic stockist said they were plastic but the mantic site said they were resin.

Wait, did GW get caught with its pants down? These chao... sorry KAOS dwarves might see some service in a certain WoC mercenary force...

i love mantic because of the cheap alternative plastics to GW, but using the same plastics for two different armies is going too far for my tastes

They do look very different. The bodies and heads are changed and that makes up most of the model. They have a lot of options to make them look different.
