The BBC should be somewhat exempt from this though, as they have funding regardless of what they print.

They should be providing the best news service around.

The news channels also have regular stories about, from and relating to Europe and there's regular European coverage in the form of specials and the like. I'm not quite sure whate lse they're supposed to do ?

They are. You need to listen to more Radio 4.

You must listen to the wireless. TV pictures are mere glitz intended to deflect your mind from serious matters.

She disserved what she gets, if she has a problem with none British people the worst thing to do is shout about it on a train. It wouldn’t kill her to keep her mouth shut. However, if she has just lost her job I can under stand why she is angry. If she has a problem, be civilised and complain formerly to their local MP. But to be honest I think that is really outrageous and that she said such things. Luckily I’m am not in that race or culture so it wouldn’t disrespect me as much if I was from another country with a different skin colour. I have already made my choice that she should go to jail. I hope no one may find what I have written offensive on any way and I’m am not meaning to be in anyway but only trying to put my view across in a fair argument.

Anyway, the point being is Radio 4 is on and I'm waiting...

I regret to inform you, especially KK, that I did not listen to Radio 4 News this evening.

I got caught up in writing a report and suddenly it was half past eight.

While writing this post I have discovered that I can listen to that news broadcast on i-player...

I suppose I could type out more but I think that should fix it.

Radio 4 has excellent journalism, it's political hue is slightly left of centre (because it is BBC) but it is very slight, and is generally very balanced.

On the Foxnewslies.net issue, I do not listen to internet published nonsense, same as anything produced by Michael Moore or other extremists of any political/religious/conspiracy views.

Accountability is key, in the UK we are dealing with this with the so called "Phone Hacking Scandal". There was an interesting programme on BBC 4 (TV channel) about the rise of the Huffington post and various internet media and how the New York Times has been struggling, and the most interesting thing is that many of these sites, take items off the New York Times Website and the BBC News website and then rehash them and publish them as their own stories.

Radio 4 is great. When I was doing hours of practical work in the lab I used to listen to it all day. Woman's Hour and Afternoon Play are good. Even got into the Archers for a while.

In all truth, Britain is a country of immigrants.

After WWII, many africans, asians and carribeans came in to help the work force.
Jews came here from eastern europe seeking asylum, as the Nazi regime was endangering their lives.
Currently, many migrants are flowing in from the EU for better working conditions and pay.
Our current royal family is part german.
Throughout history, we've had danish kings, german kings, french kings and roman conquerors.

If this woman thinks these people are not part of Britain, she clearly is naive and narrow minded.

Racism does exist on public transport both ways of course, but the best thing to do is just kick them off of the tram or bus at the next stop. A bus driver kicked a black guy off of a bus because he kept calling a white guy a "white devil" at the top of his lungs. This was after the white guy had made a request for the black guy to turn down his portable DVD player that was playing Boondocks on it, the white guy asked him to turn it down because they happen to shout the N-Word a lot in the Boondocks.
