You betcha. There's always been pasty top 40 crap, and there's always been teeny boppper crap, and there's always been Wilson Pickett in the wilderness.

Sometimes I want to punch you Frazz...not in the face more of a good natured shoulder shot for being frustrating.

Respectfully, while sadly often the case, that doesn't account for many, if not most.

U2
Rolling Stones
Norah Jones
Metallica
Michael Jackson

I didn't say there were no talented people in the industry, just that it doesn't really matter. I wish I could remember who said it (either a Rolling Stone or Ringo Starr?) that the difference in the music industry today and from when they started was that if they approached a label with a new artist back then they would ask to hear them, but today they would ask to see them.

That seems to be the way Nicki Minaj got into it

Giving a lapdance to one "old" dude does not mean she's having sexual relations with a number of partners on a casual basis.

Again, are you 17 and mormon?

I don't think you know what 'promiscuous' means, but you are young and seem to be a particularly delicate flower.

Then you don't know how to apply the word properly.

I thought it was pretty normal for young people to be into sexual promiscuity, I wouldn't call that losing her way just living up to a teenage stereotype.

I don't keep up with the tabloids, but I've heard whisperings of other things.

Also, I laughed at this cover: Gods of Rock...

Just one more reason to hate popular music...

I think there's a big difference between being flirty and having casual sex with people your own age and shaking your arse in front of a man who's as old as your father

You know, I've never heard anyone call Jessica Alba a whore. Hot, yes. Sexy, yes. Beautiful, yes. Terrible actress, also yes. But never a whore. Compare and contrast?

Well I think it depends what demographic you're part of, like if you're a neck beard on a war-gaming site your statement is pretty accurate.

Was Jessica Alba a child star who emphasized christian values? I think that's why it's so easy for me to judge her. She was a positive influence on young girls for most of career.

I'm thinking about Miley Cyrus too cynically. S_A has a point. Just maybe Miley was marketed as a positive role model for girls rather than sex to them/their brothers/dads.

What say you, Internet?

She was more of a sales tactic to get parents to think that she was a symbol of positive, Christian values, so as to separate their money from their wallets.

Indeed that was the case. Then she went young adult, then early adult - still cool. Connie and I beebopped on several of her songs.
Then she went 18 and picto and lost it. Not sure why.

Yup, it's the "Christian fething values" thing again.

How I dread those words because if you don't share them you're branded all sorts, regardless of your actual behaviour.

Justin Bieber as Han Solo. I think I know how Lucas will make Star Wars even worse next go. And Miley can be Leia. I mean, it's not quite age-inappropriate as Anakin and Padme but it can't all be gold now can it.
