I used Tamiya Clear Red for the first time on the anointed chaos star, this stuff smells great and has such good texture. (Cheers Scarper and Björn for the tutorial links).

You're welcome. Tamiya clear is great, not just the red kind. I've got them all and they served me well on all kinds of projects, like the water effect on my Dreadfleet bases that turned out really great and was achieved mainly with tamiya clears.
About the Haegtesse, great fluff, nice conversion, good paintjob. Like you said the face turned out best, but the rest is very good too (as usual).
My only point of c&c would be the composition and balance of the palette. The green thingy on the backpack is really disturbing for me and draws too much attention from the great face. The red cape on the other hand looks great from the back, but gives a slight "floating head" impression from the front, because the red part disappears under her chin, while the pattern continues (though this may be due to the angle of the picture). More shading on the pattern might help reduce the effect.
Just my tuppence worth...

Ghostflame - Cheers

Baiyuan - The green thingy really isn't an issue when the model is in your hand...on the internet fair enough. I agree about the floating head but no going back..to much to do and not enough time, the pattern is in the wrong place. Cheers bud.

neil101 - I hope the base fits with your fabulous monstrosity of a board.

Monkeytroll - cheers

evildrcheese - No worries every positive comment, original or otherwise, is good for motivation. Thank you.

Yesterday I spent a little time on the three Barauchian Guardsman. Got their boots and leggings done. Also got the base down for their brown jackets....not perfect but should come togethe when the other colours have been completed. In a few minds as to what colour the armour plates should be..prob going to stick with dirty white so that tamiya clear red blood chaos symbols stand out.

The impression one gets through a handful of pictures is indeed really limited. Should I ever drop by the UK for the GD I'll make sure to haunt you and nag at her personally. Just kidding, tbh I'd really rather see new stuff than a touched up version of the Haegtesse anyway.

The Haegtresse looks brilliantly sinister. Your guardsmen remind me of the Blood Pact. Disciplined deadly worshippers of the Dark Gods a cut above the usually rag tag forces.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Baiyuan- No touching up trying to paint three models at the same time is exhausting.

ishkatar, izeColt, Squigsquasher, Strombones - Thanks guys. Really appreciated and keeps me going.

Llamahead - The guardsman are definitely inspired by the concept of the Blood Pact, but given a more rag tag appearance with weapon options. My concept of these guys is they are actually captured guardsman who were already secret worshippers of dark gods.

Progress is slow, not really been in the mood to paint this week and this weekend went up to the lake district walking in fog ( ). This afternoon I managed to finish painting the armoured sections. Then in a fit of productivity I painted the skin on all three of them. I've painted two white and one black, this was a reward for painting the same colours over and over again. The last time I painted black skin was about 10 years and boy it is difficult... I think he may have turned out to be Native American. Anyway now I'm painting the rest/details of each one individually with an aim to get them finished by the weekend.

I was in the lakes until Friday the weather was pretty decent, but it was changing as we left, so foggy did not see much then

No point painting if not in the mood, it will only turn bad if you force it IMO

LDD you lucky bugger. Did you do any nice mountains?

Abi and I started in Ambleside and we went up to Red Screes and back along Scandale Pass. We actually had a great time even if we couldn't see that much. Always nice to get out of the city.

Painting has started to come along better since I have stopped troop painting them but I need to get them done for October, along with the Eldar. The scavvies definitely getting press ganged into service.

He is about 99% finished. I think I will add a few scratches, blood runes and some weathering when all the renegade guardsman are painted. I love his face but everything else feels a little rushed including the photographs.

LDD - Ah well we had a rather nice cream tea when we came down the mountain.

Don't beat yaself up dude, he's still wonderfully painted but yeah I think he could benefit from being a bit more scummy and battle-worn. IMO the worshippers of the dark gods aren't gonna be as keen on personal hygiene and weapons maintenance as their loyalist brothers Hehe

Yeah he is cool. I utterly love his white armour and helmet, that just looks awesome and I'd like to see even more of it: I have a thing for paint chips on white or yellow armour at the moment, and even more white areas would give more room to do chips.

I guess my only issue is that the torso seems more heavily armoured than the legs as the red armour on his knees is a bit dark and subtle. He will look awesome when he has the runes and weathering added.

Cream tea worth it the ned then

As for the paint job looks pretty dam cool to me, I think you are being a bit harsh on yourself, the white armour is a really cool touch and has turned out well.

Dont go to crazy on the weathering and dirt, I kind of like the look as is and the heavy armoured torso and more basic legs looks great together.

GF - I think a little more colour to the weapon could be done. But I don't want these guys to be the scummy worshippers....that will be the baggage slaves if I ever get round to them.

Bruticus - Aye I will be chipping the white armour with a little black (with a dip of red) grave yard earth and pure white. The torso is much more heavily armoured and I like that look. Besides who knows what armour he has under his smock.

RW - Cheers dude. I couldn't face painting it all white....so a bit of dark red works nicely imo.

LDD - mmmmmm cream tea. Weathering will be reletively subtle and quick. Not too too many chips either.

KrautScientist - No worries more pics will come when all three are finished and weathered. I think this was just a proof of life sort of pic....and good for motivation.

I need to charge the camera batteries....it was protesting while I was using it,

The sword and mace are crying out for blood splatter and gore! The skin tone is a bit different and I understand why most models have a white skin tone as the face is getting a bit lost with the white chest armour in this case. Again weathering etc will be done with the other two. So three down three to go

Cheers Baiyuan

Neil - crackle glaze paint will be brilliant...when I get used to it. I had to give it a slight dry brush with black to dull it down a bit.

Ah I like this guy a lot, I really like the conversion here, looks bulkier than the last one and I just really like the proportions and the heavy equipment.

I love the buttons on his breastplate, I wonder what they do? Maybe a gps to try and prevent him walking into walls.

The painting is great as always, but a little bit of gore would be perfect. And maybe some rust on his sword? I am not sure but a sword that has splintered like that at the tip must have something funky going on with it.

GPS now that made me laugh

I like the overall look of this however, he does seem very muted, the back pack needs something to lift it IMHO, it seems a little bland and needs something to break up the metal work.

Maybe the dial at the back painted white with a red dial hand, a little weathering and ageing is needed to just to lift him a bit.

The stance is good and the weapons choice is different, but I like the lay out overall and the white armour works really well, which I have to say surprised me immensely.
