There's an early bird open!

Edit: Early bird's gone, and I just added on for the multi-board box. Less than £100 to go till it hits £10,000!

yeah,
I almost forgot to post here in this thread.
I saw this thread on day 1 and went to the kickstarter straight away... I instantly wanted one!

A few years back I missed out on the GW city of death 6'x4' rolled up paper poster city.
My first thoughts on that was 'it's a 2D board? isn't that like what a child plays with toy cars on!' - I'll Pass.
I've since then regretted not buying one, I've seen that city print in a battle report and it looked amazing with terrain, tanks and mini's on it!
Spoiler:

And IMO these WarBoards graphics look better that that GW print!

Plus these are being printed on sturdy card not paper! so it will stand up to standard gamer abuse better.

I was not missing out again! I backed straight away. I'm Very excited.
I'm planning on getting the 4 city designs.
Plus I hope that on the back of each city board design I can get a space corridor design for the Double Win!
I simply can't wait to get hold of it and play some games on it.

Edit: No reservations! 'Blood Honours clarified!

Perhaps Steve can post on here to clear things up. I'm sure that Kickstarter option can't be for everyboard ? I read it as for your own personal boards.
Also am I right in thinking that for those already on a 4 board pledge another £7 gets you the deluxe box to hold them all in ?

I certainly hope they get this sorted. I did notice this but I thought nah they wouldn't do that. Now I'm thinking, hold on they don't really mean to do this......do they?

He updated the text, looks clearer now

Bloody Honours - Receive 4 Warboards of your choice and carry cases (4'x6'). Also have your Warboard personalised with your screen name or nick name scrawled in blood on every board you pick! Includes Honorary Warsmith and UK delivery.

Nephilim- You can add on £8 for a normal box to hold 4 boards, but the deluxe box is a bit higher as far as I can tell.

Hi guys, Soz for my absence on this thread.

I have updated the rewards a little to dissolve some potential issues brought up by Panic.

I will also be adding the 15mm scale city board as a core option later today along with a visual of the multicast.

As for the multicase itself, if you would like one, all you need to is add to your existing pledge. Details will be on the main KS page v shortly.

Thanks again to everyone for their support. We are at just over 10k now, which is something like 120% of the funding. So the pressure is on to get ready for print for when the campaign is over, hence my sporadic absence form Dakka etc.

Doesn't help my time management that i have also landed a job designing/visualising store layouts for one of the UK largest telecoms chains!

Hopefully busy, busy, busy equals money in the bank for you

Some questions for you Hits...

1. How do the folds work on the boards and what material is it made from - basically, how sturdy is the fold area? I'm visualising it as a similar system to board games that fold, but after time these can start to split or crack so will be the weakest part of the product and most prone to damage...

2. Does the fold have a lower surface level than the rest of the board - would be great to see a 'real life' image of the boards if you have any?

3. How sturdy is the board to 'misuse' - my main concern is that my young son gets at them and starts to run his matchbox / hotwheels cars over the surface - is the board sturdy enough that it wont dent / mark?

Still think these are amazing and I'm in for a set of four (cityscape + grassland) plus cary case - presuming delivery is Dec '13, these are going to be my Christmas Prezzie from the wife and kids

Hey Ruglud, thanks for the message.

1 - The folds are 'half cuts' which also incorporate the laminated and sealed print. So will stand up to many folds/unfolds.

2 - I do have a hand cut prototype, but this doesn't really show to true quality of the finial product.

3 - obviously the boards are, after everything still made mostly of card. It's dense and hard wearing though and should stand up pretty well to some hotwheels action!

If all goes according to plan, and so far it looks that way, I will be shipping the first run before Xmas.

Hope that helps!

Cheers for the answers Hits - I recall you mentioning earlier about the prototype and I don't blame you for holding back on showing that - will you have a pre-production run that you'll show?

BTW, the £9k stretch goal image with the cases looks great - that alone would make me want to buy these if I wasn't already. We need to get you more backers and release more stretch goals (and make more money for the project of course )

Good paint Panic!

People seem to be very confident that the warboard will be getting to retail stores at some point, and they are probably right (at least i hope so). But i couldn't even guess as too a time frame and prices could change by then. I should also mention that any boards being mass produced for retail (more than 100 units) are likely to be limited when it comes to design choice. If you take a look at the KickStarter main page under Options, you'll see that there is quite a variety available via the kickstarter.

Thanks again to everyone who has pledged and supported the Warboard!

Steve

This looks very interesting to me and it is unlikely that I won't pledge for a 4x6 set.

Will there be any more corridor designs though?

Glad you find the warboard interesting, currently there are 2 corridor design available via the KS. unless the KS reaches over its existing stretch goals there wont be anymore available in the KS.

I think the number of board type offerings you have is fantastic currently... but I'm a little worried that you might get stretched too thin if the campaign hits too many further stretch goals (basically, a new board type every 1K from here on). Doesn't it cost more than that to have the boards made... or is it once the initial cost is covered, it's easy to add more types?

You've already expanded the base offerings, and unlocked the 15mm scale city... just don't want you to get stretched too thin!

Also I almost wish this was over since the dollar has been tanking against the pound since our government shutdown. Although maybe we'll open up again before the end and remedy that... there's a week to go . Probably not enough time for Congress to get it's act together, though!

Thanks for letting Dakka know first manrouge!

RiTides - Don't worry, I've got it all sorted. I'm spread thin, but not too thin. I'll sleep when I'm dead! Seriously tho, I just posted on the KS comments, I'm very busy at the mo and has been focusing on my day job and finishing the boards, so haven't spent enough time pushing the KS and bringing it to life. I'll just have to try harder!

Thanks again to everyone for there continued support. GIMI MORE DAKKA!

Several early birds open guys, seems some folks moved up to the 8 boards pledge. Might as well save 6 pounds, so grab an EB if you're in a normal slot
