The second is a consolised version of an open world game (so essentially on rails) but it is still one of the better big budget RPGs of the last few years. The third is excellent. One thing I'd mention. Use a guide for the main quest of chapter 2 (the investigation with the private eye) of the first game and stick to it rigidly. It is possible to break the questline if you do certain events out of order and if that happens you cannot proceed. They were pretty fun. Not amazing, though. They're quite short but seeing the characters from the original film is pretty cool.

Anyone played it?

If you like Harvest Moon you'll love Stardew Valley. It's more or less the same, but with optional dungeon crawling thrown in.

Anyone ever used the RPGmaker series?
Its going on Steam for 20 quid (down from 70). I love the look of it but reviews seem a bit mixed. It seems like a powerful engine but little to know instructions/support in-house to get into the juicier bits.
Albeit seems to have a lot of forum support and articles on it. Just not sure I have the time to trawl through all of them to get a project up and running.

Is Prey worth a look? Its still 50+ quid on Steam which is slightly galling.

This weekend, I plan on expanding my Switch collection, I've got 4 possibilities (may get 2 of these):
Stardew Valley - I already have this for PC, but a portable version is amazing
Skyrim - Also already have this, but unsure if it would be great portable. Reviews are solid, though.
Doom - Never played this, would love to. Unsure if it will be the same experience mobile.
Mario Odyssey - Haven't played a Mario game since the DS era, hear a lot of good about this.

Doom is Doom 4? The most recent incarnation?
Its terrific on the PC, genuinely intense, superb engine and maps and a half decent plot tbh.
However unsure how a port would work.

Yes, it is the newest Doom.
And from what I've seen, it obviously isn't quite as polished as the PC version, but the tradeoff is the extreme mobility.

Prey will be a game of the year contender on a few sites, I’d wager.
I never finished it, but its at the top of my list of games to return to when I get bored with Warhammer 2.

I gotta make a habit of checking dates on posts...
I feel like the game got 0 marketing and/or it was sandwiched between two bigger games coming out around the same time. I think its highly underrated and didn’t get any of the buzz that it deserved.

I agree with that Prey somewhat got shafted when it comes to marketing, but yea. Its a great game all around. Not really what I normaly play, but it was a great experience.

Dead Space 3 is a very different game to the other two though. The coop it had was also pretty damn fun.

DS is like Mass Effect. The first is a bit dated but is necessary for the full experience in my opinion. The second I think is best. The third has the best combat and mechanical improvements but I feel fell behind somewhat on story and overall feel.
All are good.

Both are pretty radically different games. It comes down to an action RPG brawler vs a monster hunter game. Personally, I'd say MHW, but I haven't played Nier.
