The first 5 of the Noise Marines of N'Ton El'Oban's Company; advanced warriors of the 4th Generation, they are very similar to the perfected Varengii but far easier to produce. Incredibly quick of hand and eye, they are also very resilient and outfitted with weapons that have been optimised for extended combat operations. Their bolters scopes link with the autosenses of their Mk IV armour to allow them to routinely take shots that would put a trained marksman to shame, and the fragmenting shells they fire are designed to penetrate obstacles before exploding behind them. For those they fight, seeking cover is folly.

Their champion, Piemurr, bears a unique and deadly power sword that can strike a foe down with a single blow, and his combi-bolter allows him to add substantially to the firepower of his squad

Rules: Noise Marine squad, 20 strong, 2 Blastmasters, Icon of Excess, Rhino with bitz, Champion has combi-bolter, power sword, gifts (+1 BS, Icy Aura, instant death melee attacks)

Thanks Shasolenzabi, Evildrcheese, most kind
I'm still waiting on the bitz to get those Gnolls properly sci-fi, I could paint them now but I'll stick with working on other projects. Like this one; a kitbash of an Arkanaut Admiral and a Grey Knight Terminator with parts from the Tartaros and MkIII armour kits. Lieutenant Taranis of Company Lugus, one of the heroes of the Steel Wars. Taranis guarded Captain Lugus' back throughout the 3 decades their company held the Sigma III defence site, trusting to his artificer armour and enhanced resilience to shrug off even the most dire of wounds.
Rules-wise; 30K Blackshields Chymeriae (+1 S/T, -1 I, no sweeping advance) in Terminator Armour with power sword and volkite charger

Thanks Warboss_Waaazag. He's about 4 different kits, I think. Fyreslayers, Arkanaut, Marine, Stormcast.... A lot. I'm not 100% on the mohawk off the backpack; it was supposed to be an upsized helmet crest but I might switch it out.

While I'm pondering that, I started work on the base for The Dark Horse, my former House Terryn Freeblade. Cutting skulls into bits to fill gaps, so it matches the Sector Imperialis display board, is a pain.

Just took The Red Baron (Kytan Daemon Engine) and Grimalkin, Lady of Scars (Daemon Knight-Paladin of Khorne) up against a dude at the FLGS; he was running a Kustom Stompa with Gaze of Mork, Bursta Gun, Titan CCW and a cargo of 23 Mekboyz and a Big Mek.

I won! Just,,,,

Didn't get a chance to take photos, but it was a good game. Turns out we had 950 points each. I must have stripped 30+ hull points off his Stompa. In the end, The Red Baron fell to a Gaze of Mork to the face followed by a Titan CCW in the guts, and Grimalkin took the kill by virtue of a 3-round slugfest that knocked his last 3 hull points off before he had a chance to regenerate. A fun fun game; and quick as!

Will definitely do that again; but think I need terrain to shield my units from Str D weapons as they advance.

Working on painting my first Rhino for Great Company Kolvjon's Wulfen packs. I'd planned to use red as the secondary colour on the front and side recessed panels, but it ended up looking too much like the Winterborn vehicles so I'm using the same cream I used on Holgir's robes instead. The side doors will get a decal of a red wolf's head, very slightly reminiscent of the Witcher symbol

In the aftermath of the Steel Wars, the defences of the Nine Worlds were substantially improved and upgraded. Part of this involved the salvage of wrecked vehicles from the battlefield and the subsequent refit and redeployment of them. On the asteroid belt that held the Sigma III installation, an ancient Stormhammer assault tank was discovered. In recognition of the heroism of Companies Lugus and Kolbeck, the Stormhammer was ceded to the Wolfbrothers, who in turn passed it to the Aegis Itrium, the permanent defensive force that watched over their Chapter-planet of Itrium

Bought this from a guy on a FB swap page; he'd done some converting but never finished it. I'll need to do some repair work, but it's a genuine Forgeworld Stormhammer! And it came with a pair of (admittedly damaged) Leman Russ Incinerator turrets, a recast (and damaged) Legion Glaive turret, and a set of heavy volkites for a Legion Support squad. I have enough spare parts to create a baneblade-sized hull for the Glaive turret, and the Volkite cannons I can always use or resell. New turrets for my Russes are also cool.

Conversion-work-wise, after I've patched the holes and painted the basics, it'll get some Itrium-styled bitz; scraps of cloth, shields on the side, maybe try some freehand tribal markings too.

Doing some work on my old Helbrute pack, The Shield of the Lost. I restarted T'Garran of Necromunda with a new model, an old Khador warjack in metal, and switched his weapons from missile launcher and reaper autocannon to missile launcher and twin-linked lascannons. He has one lascannon per arm, with the missile launcher mounted on top of his hull. I only have enough bitz to build one Lascannon for now, but that'll change when I buy another Goliath

Korvan was born to the crews of the Lost Companies' ships. His parents were non-Fenrisian; his father an armsman and his mother an engineer. Korvan was one of the first modified humans created by Holgir Bearclaw, and his stable mind and skill with weapons rapidly earned him a place in Holgir's bodyguard. He was issued with one of the suits of power armour once worn by Inquisitor Rathmine's favoured acolytes, and accompanied Holgir on many missions. He lost his mortal life fighting alongside the warriors of the Tithe and the Wulfen Guard, taking a sniper's round meant for Kodlak Sternhammer. In recognition of this feat, the Sternhammer had Korvan interred in one of the dreadnought shells bequeathed to the Wulfen Guard, making him the first dreadnought of the Wolfbrothers Chapter.

Been working on the idea of Korvan for a while. At one time he was to lead a Helcult, but with the dawn of 8th I'll probably just field him alone with cultist support. Rules-wise he's a Helbrute with twin-linked autocannon and powerfist with heavy flamer. It remains to be seen if this build is still available and viable but I do hope it is.

Thanks War Kitten, he'll be painted soon. Had a look through the Chaos Index last night and that build is very viable

A few take-aways from the Index read; Helbrutes now get Marks. Marks do nothing... Yet. They do unlock some bubbles for the unit, so that's neat.
There's not yet rules for the Crimson Slaughter, regrettably, so I'll just focus on building up what I have and hope for some love down the road. Possessed are faster than before, but I'm not a fan of their D3 attacks each. Also, Poxwalkers seem very meh to me... I was thinking they could be good replacements for my Plague Zombies/Poxwalker Hive cultists but I don't really feel it. Looks like the Grey Wardens will be going into battle unsupported. I'm tentatively happy with the Chaos Lords and characters, and many, many additional wounds for Dark Apostles, WQarpsmiths and the like is kinda cool. 2 wound Terminators are cool too, but still no Cataphractii. Still going to model my Scarab Occult as Cataphractii with assault cannons and cyclone launchers though.

Anyway enough rambling from me, have a good one and stay tuned for further updates!

At least right now the Marks are more used for synergy purposes than anything else. An ability might say that it buffs units with the "Khorne" keyword or something like that

Yeah, that's true War Kitten. I'll muddle through this edition, I'm sure of it. The Noise Marines rules fit N'Ton's company nicely, so I'll stick with it.

I had another idea about the Parthian armour, an updated suit of well-shielded power armour that allowed the 6th generation Wolfbrothers to stand up to the battlefields of the Steel Wars. The first model was this guy:

And whilst he's a good basic concept, I can do better. I'm thinking this:

World Eater MkII torsos

Maxmini Forge Guardian shoulders

Probably with some version of Iron armour legs, but 3rd party to represent their slow speed. Helmets will probably remain converted from various sources

Thanks EDC. I might end up changing the helmet, but we'll see. War Kitten, yeah they're not quite high-tech, but also look tough enough to withstand a battlefield and look vastly different to anything else I have. I also had some ideas for the terminators that accompany N'Ton El'Oban's Company. The idea was to fool Imperial forces into thinking that the Wolfbrothers were a returning force long ago exiled, and so the warriors of the Company were outfitted with Mk V and Mk IV armour, ancient patterns faithfully reproduced by the Taghmata Hvergelmir to arm the Company. The Mk IV armour was reserved for elite units, and any Noise Marine unit will be wearing it. The terminators of the Company were likewise outfitted with advanced armour marks, and few things are as advanced as Tartaros armour. In the old rules the quicker Tartaros plate accounted for their increased Initiative as well.
To differentiate the Tartaros worn by N'Ton's Company from the others, and to add to the almost-high-tech feel of the army, I sourced some of these combi-bolters

The under-over look vastly differs from every other storm bolter/ combi bolter I have in the Company, and they look more streamlined and advanced than standard weapons. I also sourced 5 of these torsos

I think they'll tie in neatly with both the Mk V armour of the average marines, and the MK IV advanced armour worn by the elite troops. These will be added to either resin or plastic Tartaros legs. Conversion should be ready by next weekish

Yeah, apothecaries and the like are pretty good in 8th edition. While reviving models from a squad is pretty decent, they're mostly good for keeping precious characters alive.

Thanks guys. War Kitten, he's mostly going to be used as Fabius Bile, but if I feel the need to run him as an Apothecary he should fit just fine too. I received this in the mail today; the storm bolters for N'Ton El'Oban's terminators. Now to wait for the rest of the resin to arrive.....

I got the remainder of the bitz to finish the terminators today; a pack of plastic Tartaros and a pack of Forgeworld Legion Tartaros models. I also got the Chaos Index, and I have to say I'm stoked! Very little loses out. I'm a little annoyed about the Possessed getting weirdly done in the core 40K rules, but Forgeworld hasn't let me down! Torin, as a Decimator Daemon Engine, is fast, deadly and hard to kill. The Red Baron isn't quite as tough as an Imperial Knight, but he's savage as all goddamn.
If you play Chaos, or something like Chaos, get this book!

Pics of terminators to follow....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The first terminator of Great Company N'Ton. His pose is much better in person, it looks like he's hunting and about to assault with his fist. The pic kinda looks like he's absently shooting.

Further work on Great Company N'Ton; some Mk V Heresy armour, all in plastic! I'll be adding some resin FW versions in too, but I'll mainly be aiming to build these versions as they seem a bit less polished. The Khorne legs have slightly pointy kneepoads which fits the Mk V aesthetic, but I'll have to scrape off the Khorne symbols and the banding around the legs as well.
