RIPTIRE; WILL IT WORK?!?
I'm eager to hear everyone's thoughts on this conversion. Anyone who has played the game "Overwatch" will know what this is; A Riptire!



In game this is a large remote bomb that can be driven around and detonated as shown below. So when I needed to make a new Cyclops Demolition Vehicle that used purely GW bits it seemed ideal to add to the grot's crazy arsenal, but bigger!.



But I'm eager to hear what people think of it as a proxy to a FW Cyclops Demo Vehicle?

I would happily play against that as a Cyclops!

Those things are amazing. Too bad rough riders aren't very good in-game...

GROT REBEL DOKTINZ!
I'm excited for the new codex and after reviewing the doctrines, decided to go with Armageddon.
Mainly because of 2 reasons; 1) The others were based around discipline, bravery or strength and the grots don't excel in any of those! 2) DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!

And also because they both hate Orks, I assume

My GW event friendly Cyclops Demolition Vehicle Proxies. They are based on Junkrat's Ultimate from Bliizard's Overwatch.
My only concern is that anyone who is unfamiliar with Overwatch will see just self driven tires so it makes me question if the conversion really works?

Love 'em. They look great, independent of the reference (which I just barely get - thanks cosplayers of the internet!)

BUILDING A REBEL METER!
Currently working on a "Rebel Meter" to help keep track of my command points since the new guard codex allows me to regenerate and steal them.

The meter has 5 levels based on the amount of command points...

0-3 - A Noisy Protest
4-6 - (Any suggestions?)
7-10 - (Any suggestions?)
11-13 - A Gretchin Uprizin!
14-16 - A GROT WAAAGH

I hope to have button badge tokens for each of the Warlords to move along it as I spend and regain command points.
So any suggestions for levels 2 and 3?

What better way to keep track of command points than with "Da Rebel Meter!" I wonder if I'll ever hit that 14-16 Mark?

What program do you use to make that command point tracker? That looks awesome!

Hi Proiteus, been watching this thread for a while. Gotta say its all astonishingly well done. Top job all round.
I drew this a while ago and thought you might like to see it as a kind of concept sketch for heavy weapon teams. If anyone's army should have these its yours.

I sometimes find myself envious of hobbyists who have the freedom to use all the 3rd party kits and parts they want in their army by having access to well established indie events and tournaments.
Last week was one of those times, as I emailed Warhammer World about using this model as a Basilisk proxy, instead they wanted to know how it was built. Now my Grot Heavy tanks have be banned purely because of the Spiked Tracks. Regardless that the rest of the model is pure GW.



Got to say I'm a bit disheartened by this recent exchange with GW and seeing they'll enforce the 100% GW policy regardless of how subtle the 3rd party component.
With that in mind I'm worried if I took the Grot Rebels to another tourney they''d be examined in detail and more of my Grot Rebel units would be banned because of something as small as an ammo magazine for example.

It's true I've used 3rd party bits but never as an alternative just to add to the original model, do you think the Grot's heavy tank's would look as intimating and brutal with the imperial guard tracks?
Now I'm wondering if I should build pure GW alternative models or just take the grots to indie events and have full freedom with 3rd party kits and use my other armies for their events.

With the rise of 3rd party bits and appalling Chinaforge it makes sense for GW to become stricter with a 100% policy.
I respect it and have made sure not to breach it. My Tau Drones army was the first project after the 100% policy was introduced, as a result I adopted an all or nothing 3rd party stance. For example half of the marker drones were build using 3rd party bits and other half all GW so I could have some to take to their events.

But sadly some of the grot rebel models were built back when the policy was 80% or more GW?
Using that 20% freedom I was able to customise some of my grot units a bit more, such as the spiked tracks on the tanks. Plus other parts that just weren't easily available at the time.
While all my grots built back then had no more than 20% 3rd party bits as required at the time now they're unusable though not fault of my own.

All Grot models built after the 100% policy was introduced follow the all or nothing mindset; For example the Megagrots are all GW while the Deathstrike conversion would never been considered for a GW event due to the 3rd party tank kit used in it's construction. The Riptires were also built for the purpose of being used at GW events as opposed to the original 3rd party models.

Overall it seems a no win situation; it's unfair to players who built their armies using the up to 20% rule GW originally allowed before it changed, expecting them to either alter or replace older conversions. But from their perspective they can't really make an exception as other players won't realise that fact.
The sad truth is I don't know when the Grots will be returning to Warhammer World.

I'll be taking a break from 40k for a while and returning to my Stonecast Eternal Project that got sidelined when 8th dropped, so be sure to check that out in the link in my signature.
