I’m not sure about the whole retailers cannot carry this game as it’s still available through miniaturemarket.com, and they have gotten reorders. I think it’s more of the fact retailers won’t touch it because of CMONs max discount of 15% that they have implemented, and that a lot of people picked a good chunk up through Kickstarter. Retailers are looking for profit and a game that is going to be helping their turns.

Ah, my bad. That's what I was trying to say. I know there was a large thread on cmon setting that discount boundary earlier this year, and wok's worst enemy has always been its price. Its always sold well though miniature market with large discounts, just as it is during this sale.

Oh, wasnt trying to bad mouth sources. I don't know who the source is, but I figured a cmon email was pretty legit (unless i was lied to so sales continue. I also hope the cmon rep is right. Who does your source work for if you don't mind me asking?

I did notice on facebook sites that some cmon employees have been active, saying wok is healthy, has plans for 2018, and this is just an overstock sale (in which case makes this a perfect time to start in the hobby!!). A post on the cmon forums also shows: "Bryan Steele of CMON did say in a comment in the WGC WoK FB group that this sale was to clear overstock and that he was working on plans for WoK in 2018.

That being said, i just really enjoy the game and don't want to see anything bad happen to it.

I'm thinking that generally CMON won't or can't keep up any miniature war/battle game because they have much better success with board games. So I was wondering....maybe there are ways to sell Wrath of Kings models for some of CMON's board games? Like expansion card sets for Zombicide Black Plague or Massive Darkness? Or perhaps a new board game based on WoK that contains fresh models, which is expandable with other models in the line? That would maybe sell to new and existing fans. Perhaps if new uses for the models bring in money then CMON might be more apt to keep the line active...and give us some new stuff here and there for the actual WoK miniatures game.

Well one of the Goritsi character specialists is already a model in Black Plague. As Zombie wolf abomination... I wonder though if they could make A Kings of War board game that you could also use the models in the table top game.

I've pestered them on the topic of integrating Wrath of Kings into just about every single campaign they've run since, at least those where it would make sense for aspects of the game to be included.

It always fell on deaf ears.

Why weren't their any Nasier or other faction dual use Zombicide guest boxes for Black Plague? I'm not going to count the cosplayers from Season 2.

Why not reskin Massive Darkness to take place in Arikania instead of the nondescript generic locales they used?

They could be pulling a Fantasy Flight in terms of branding everything to match up and make a unifying product line.

Plus Guiton's done the artwork for all the games mentioned as well. It could all fit perfectly if given just a bit more thought behind it!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

It would certainly be a useful route to take on their wholly owned stuff

its not as if they don't shoehorn totally unrelated stuff in as stretch goal fodder anyway

I was wondering, since whispers of the return of confrontation are in the air, if some sort of hold was being put on the game till they make sure they still have the artists lined up. Not that the sculptors leave WoK high and dry to go back to making wolfen models.

Hah, if those guys at Confrontation Resurrection actually pull anything substantial off, I'll eat a shoe. It looked like some daydreaming by a couple of fans, and there hasn't been anything since February (and even then it was just "Hai guys, Confrontation is coming back!"). They'd have a huge hurdle with anyone who fondly remembered the game likely having a huge collection already and competing with the various recasters/Legendarion. CMON tried to sell some resins and they flopped hard, though that was probaly in part due to the terrible selection.

Grabbed some Hadross at the sale, I figure I can use them for Deepwars if nothing else!

Could be them trying to make a quick $$$. Grab the confrontation name and get the hype going and maybe CMON will buy it off them just to keep the line theirs. They wouldn’t even have to create anything, just the mere possibility of the Gorsiti line getting duplicated/watered down could be cause bough to make CMON buy them out.

The only wrinkle in that line of thinking was the fact that CMON had the license for a while, and basically didn't do much with it.

supposedly they bought the line initially to sell the existing minis, but what they got in terms of moulds. masters etc was in poor condition, and incomplete

perhaps why the confrontation stuff they did do in resin was an odd mix of weird choices not the solid sellers you'd have expected them to pick and that meant they didn't sell as well as expected (reading between the lines, I've not seen any decent conformation on this bit) and so any incentive to re-launch in the short term was lost, lots more cash would have been needed to re-do a lot of the line, minimal interest and all the old plastics hanging around to canabalise sales

I can't quite get straight whether they actually looked into relaunching Confrontation before it morphed into Wrath of Kings (so they put together their own background for a ruleset originally intended for confrontation)

or whether they were always separate projects with the Phoniex Edition of Confrontation being dropped when they couldn't figure out a rule set that kept all the old players happy

I can answer this.

They were separate projects. I was really active on the old Dragon painting forum which was the big English painting site for Rackham and there were some people there that worked on either Phoenix Edition or both it and WoK. WoK was in development before they got the rights to Confrontation if I remember correctly. I even demoed WoK at gencon the same year they announced Confrontation Phoenix Edition though they had been working on PE for at least a year at that point due to the rules had been in beta for C: PE and people didn't like them. We were told on that forum that originally Confrontation was going to go to KSer first but people didn't like the rules so they decided to move up WoK and then do C: PE the next year. If you go over the facebook and look up Geek Garage Clubhouse that's where a lot of people from that form still hangout and I'm certain you can get some more detailed info if you want.

I also know that part of the reason for CMoN not pushing forward with Confrontation was all the recastors and Leganarion (SP?) sculpting new stuff based off of concept artwork and selling it as part of the game. CMoN didn't have the resources to go after them, as the big one is Russian based, and Cyanide didn't care (from at least what I've been told). CMoN couldn't compete with the recastor prices if done in resin or metal and worried about a revolt from the Rackham fans if they did plastic. This was also years ago before CMoN became as successful as it is now and PVC having really improved as I believe Sedition Wars wasn't even done with wave 2 at the time (and we all know how that went).

Cheers for that, interesting stuff

(I hadn't considered how the recasters would have impacted things, but I suppose internet shopping was happening but postage wasn't yet a problem, and if there was a system to go with them stores might well have started bringing in stuff themselves if the price was right)

Sedition Wars probably scrapped a lot of their plans, now that you mention it.

Tangentially related: CMON gave me a shipping notice for my second order, but not for the first order which contained all the WoK items. Since so many here ordered from the sale, did you all have the same experience? Is there going to be an issue with the WoK orders?

Some of the WoK stuff they thought they had in is apparently not there (shipping issues from the factory),

from the sound of it the only stuff effected is the newest (not reduced) stuff, and they're shipping the rest of the without that and refunding

other than that it's probably just BF slowness

I received my first order rather quickly (I did order at 4am EST the day the sale began , though). I placed a second order for a bunch of Dark Sword Miniatures ($2.00 each!!) a couple of days later but have yet to even receive a shipping notice on it.

All of you suck that received stuff. All my orders are still "processing." You've had near enough to over two weeks now, dagnabbit!

Process it and ship it already!

Going off topic on Sedition Wars, but what ever happened with the reboot/ expansion stuff? Samples were in the wild, previews were getting posted... and then nothing.

Yet another franchise that CMON could mine for interesting materials that I'm sure they've already paid the costs for on sculpting and design.

CMON bought out Studio McVey or hired Mike McVey full time (or both) and got him working on other stuff that didn't have a troubled background

It died. CMoN walked from the property since it was such a mess and then McVey shut down his studio since he didn't have the rights to Sedition Wars. I think this was all from the Reaper forums years ago as several painters there were active on the McVey forums before those got shut down. I think what really shut down Sedition Wars was the fact that Game Stores bought a lot of copies and got burned more then anything else. It was one of the first big KSer success boardgame wise and lots of people were convinced it was going to also sell like gangbusters after KSer like Zombiecide did. When it didn't the property lost a lot of it's value as at that time CMoN was still trying to go get things in physical stores unlike today where I don't think they care.

Looks like there's new WoK stuff on the horizon, completing (?) the stuff from Book 2?

http://wrathofkings.com/ks/

and

http://wrathofkings.com/ks/new-wrath-of-kings-releases-now-available/

If I've missed any, please add them in!

The game remains frustratingly hard to get news on, find in stores, etc...

Let's home CMON can finally figure this all out, and get some serious momentum going here, and for Dark Age.

It's nice to see stuff finally coming out again. It's maddening how CMON seems to have just tossed this game aside while it feels like they've gone all-in with Dark Age and likely will with Ice & Fire.

It's such a fun game and I love demo-ing it for people. They tend to pick it up very quickly and have a good time. Plus the free rules and unique design help a lot with increasing interest.

New recruits are coming this month for the armies of Arikania! These fierce warriors include Gotha Knights, Dragon Lancers, Fire Hawk Reavers, and more. Stay tuned for more information on these combatants and look for them in your FLGS on March 30.

good to see these finally heading out to (US) stores

(as far as I can tell it's just the stuff that's been sitting in the CMON warehouse since late last year and was not very cheap in the November sale)

Edit: the above might not be right? they're certainly from the second book but I cant find the gotha knights in my stash and I thought I got all the Goritsi I was missing ?

None of these have been for sale yet. The Gotha Knights and the Nasier unit were listed for sale but then they realized they did not actually have them in house yet. I preordered both new Goritsi units through Miniature Market
