Awesome work Tek, that's huge!!! Good to see you joining!

I like your use of model train parts :nods: . I love the giant hammers btw.

@bob: That's really ambitious! The rails for the crane look great and I really like that container, nice use of parts to detail it up.

@Tek: You are incredibly talented! I really hope you will make a painting and modeling blog here on dakka of all the amazing stuff you make. That giant dwarf living statue is very impressive.

@OMN: I saw on Cam's blog that you've been thinking about making a giant factory, this comp is the perfect excuse if you'd like to join

Everyone keep up the great work!

Amazing stuff all over the place here. I know size doesn't matter but wow-wee those are some big 'uns!

I may have bought something for this. Not saying I'm entering at the moment, I just may have bought something...

Goodness me, there's some AMAZING work on this thread! Well done folks.

I've had a successful weekend clearing out my mum's garage (read: scrounging stuff). Still looks like a big pile o'junk but it's taking shape now

It's already looking good Apollinaire. Letting us see what it looks like in its "pile of junk" phase will make it that much more fun when we see what you create with in. Looks to me like it will be another fine addition to your Necromunda terrain.

Thanks @syro. It is indeed some more necromunda terrain - it's going to be a chemical factory and base for my Escher gang (in my head it's called Stimm City but not sure if that'll stick...)

Not in the pic, but the putty is on the two short walls, and one of the corners now, and the gatehouse has a first coat or two of paint, but you can get an idea for the layout:

I might not strictly use it with the tower, which means making a couple barracks, admin building, and maybe a storehouse. I need to make the 'barracks' anyways for my villa which has stalled out (servants quarters, might as well make a dual purpose building and save on extraneous stuff).

There's nothing like joining a LoER competition to ensure IRL eviscerates my hobby time. I'm still in this but I'm modifying my original design. The missile launch pad will not have a missile in launch position. I'll be adding additional detail to it but ultimately it cannot be what I had intended. I've considered using a prefab piece for the nose cone but I'd rather stay true to the ideal of this build. I want at least one model in my collection to be 100% scratch built and this is what I'm doing.

Regardless of judging, I've already "won". I finally used my airbrush and my circle cutter. I stepped up to both of those challenges specifically for this competition. Since my first spray I've become confidant with my airbrush and will be revisiting some of my most recent Necromunda builds to add a center port with my circle cutter. I've also resolved a moment of self-realization- I'm not a scratch-build modeler. Once this is over I'll be returning to my regularly scheduled bashing of kits and gluing of random bitz. No loss of pride there, I'm extremely proud of the projects I've completed and appreciative of the praise I've received from my peers.

Back with WIP as soon as I have something to share.

@Apollinaire: Sounds like a sweet idea, I'm looking forward to seeing it as you create it.

@Mordain: No worries, there's still plenty of time left. Honestly I am a little freaked out how fast some of the people are flying through, cranking out crazy amounts of work. Maybe they're planning to be done early.

@Maniac: Wow! That looks so good all together like that!

@Skalk: Murphey's law does seem to lurk in the forums waiting for the worst time to strike. But you really have accomplished so much already. I'm really impressed how fast you've been improving with the airbrush. So true about how you have already "won". Like you and Cam (plus many others) have said in the past, these comps are all about pushing yourself to try new things, take a project to the next level. You have definitely done that.

Theme: Ork Luggaboyz Cargo Transfer Station.

Difficulty: I donated all my terrain-stuff to my friend's brand new game store, to help give them a leg up on the competition.

Rationale:

The problem of battlefield logistics has been in existence for millennia. All armies have to move supplies to the front lines. Whether dedicated transports, or more...jury-rigged solutions. Orks are masters of creative solutions to problems, and getting cargo to their waaaghs is just one more thing for a Mekboy to solve...

@Briancj: I love the idea and am even more excited that you're taking part in the comp. I wish you the best of luck finding creative ways to overcome your lack of crafting materials.

Work with that you've got.

(On the plus side, found my Banker's box of Orks, and it had bitz. So, that's a leg up. AND I found my professional heavy duty hot glue gun, with ATTACHMENTS.)

Oh, yeah.

Yep, that's off the scale Cam- you and Tek are in your own league now. The Premier League of Extraordinary Riveters

Briancj - Good to see another of the original LoER member in the mix as well

Update - I created the pivot joint for the main beam, then added some extra structure to the engine room - will be adding a door on the rear. The black plastic parts are from some old broken toy cars that i dismantled a few years back...
