I regret not buying Shaeffer's last chancers while they were available.

I don't regret my first imperial guard buy from le bon coin (pretty much french ebay), that provided me not only with a fonctionnal IG army, but also battlefield terrains i still use to this day, old codices (even warhammer fantasy ones!), paints..... That was a great start i say!

I think a lesson from me and others echoing the same sentiment has been learned; don't be too eager to sell off collections/painted models. Nobody wants a big pile of shame but at the same time its a hobby that you might take a break from and return to. Its nice to break stuff out to enjoy every now and then.

Yeah, I've never sold any of my stuff. Traded a few new-on-sprue items for other stuff that I wanted more, but never sold or thrown away any minis that I've actually built/painted. They're mine, and I'm not getting rid of them unless faced with no other choice. Though my attitude has always been much more collector/modeller/painter rather than gamer, so I can understand the folks who care more about game rules selling off things that are no longer valid or no longer have good rules. For me, all my old stuff is proudly on show in a display cabinet.

So, unlike some folks I don't have anything I regret selling. Those few new-on-sprue things I traded off, worst case if I suddenly get a desire to do them I can buy a new one.

Regret buying - not much, to be honest. Everything I've bought is because I've thought it's cool or fits the collection. In the last year or so I got a sudden desire to expand my WHFB High Elf army, so I bought some stuff for that (new in box phoenix and shadow warriors, and lots of metal swordmasters from ebay), which has mostly languished untouched while I've worked on 40k. So at some times I've regretted buying those. But given the recent discontinuing of quite a bit of the remaining WHFB High Elf range at other times I've been glad that I bought them when I had the chance - and the phoenix just got me a good finish in the painting challenge! Perhaps at times I also regret buying as much stuff as quickly as I have. The backlog can sometimes be a bit daunting.

Regret not buying - linked to the High Elf stuff above - I regret not buying more of the WHFB stuff when I had the chance, before it was discontinued. Like the bits that I did buy they might have sat on the shelf untouched for ages, but I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them. At least if I fancy expanding my old Lizardmen, a lot of the stuff is still available in the Sigmar range.

I somewhat regret not buying into metal Eldar before finecast came in. My first brief foray into 40k as a kid I fell in love with Biel-Tan, but never built a proper army. Years away from the hobby and I came back at university where I bought into WHFB - when all the cool Eldar metal stuff was around and I didn't buy it. Some more years out, and when I finally get around to doing Biel-Tan properly all the aspect warriors are finecast and I find myself scouring ebay for the metals. I've managed to get a decent amount of them, but it's at the whim of what models people are selling at the time, some have missing parts, the ones with good rules go for a premium, and nearly everything needs paint stripping. So much more hassle than just buying new boxes/blisters.

Maybe regret not buying more BFG when it was around too. I've got a decent sized Chaos fleet, but it could be bigger...

Regretted buying: Robotech Tactics. Sedition Wars. Couldn't give them away.

Regretted not buying: Forgeworld Anphelion Base. I had it in my cart on FW's site, decided not to pull the trigger, and shortly after that it disappeared. Would love to get my hands on it.

Regret not getting into WH Fantasy after falling out with 40k during the switch to 3rd ed. I wish I never sold my Island of Blood box set to buy into Konflikt 47, the fluff didn't grab me in the way I though it would and I ended up going back to BA and enjoyed it way more.

Biggest regret buying(at the time) has to be the old metal/plastic hybrid vindicator. I had never assembled anything metal yet or even realised that the kit was metal at this point in the hobby. They had one floating around in my local GW and thought it looked neat but it completely broke me and I had no money for anything else at the time I nearly quit the hobby. It’s done but has a terrible paint job. Plastic kit got released three months later. Going to strip it and re-do it for my Black Templar’s soon! Also a devastator squad off eBay that ended up missing half the parts. So no money for anything else and half a squad luckily managed to salvage most of it.

Biggest regret not buying. The High Elf dragon lord kit. Nearly got one on lctb but they all went before I could get one.

There's a few Tomb Kings kits I regret not buying. I wasn't really interested in them (or spending that kind of cash) until after it was too late and they'd disappeared, in those pre-LCTB days. Not that LCTB helps all that much as I missed some High Elf items from a week or two ago...

As with many here I do have some regret for getting Robotech Tactics; It is the largest amount I have ever spent on a Kickstarter. I wanted the game to be a successful and was very excited when it was announced,
but the way Palladium games handled everything so poorly it seem they where trying to make an award winning way on how to loose customers.
I dumped my game on a buddy that I used to play the Robotech RPG with, Now you can find it in shops marked to $20 for the starter and still no one touches it.

This is one of those things that entertained me when some kits left at the start of AoS.
I had someone lamenting that "they never got any Glade Riders". I said I have 30 of the guys, unbuilt and still on sprue, that I'd sell him at MSRP...he promptly tried to tell me that I asked for too much. Last I heard, he had to pay out the nose on eBay. Good riddance!

Kits I've regretted...hrmh. I bought another Waywatcher and Wayfinder right before the purge of Wanderers stuff. That's about it really.

I've passed on a few secondhand lots that in retrospect I regret not grabbing. There aren't a ton of GW releases I've regretted passing on as time moves on. Either the product becomes available used, or isn't as useful now. I guess I wish I had bought more bits and OOP stuff before Mail Order died.

As for regrets in buying... oof. So many regrets. 3rd edition Dark Eldar, WFB O&G, everything Ive ever bought for LOTR/MESBG (love the models, still have never played a game), Most of my Mantic armies, Flames of War, and Warmachine.

Hello Fellow Philly friend

Managed to get the Forgeworld Hive Tyrant I wanted! Now I have all of the biotitans besides the Scythed Hierodule but I can pick that up whenever

+1 for the Forgeworld Anphelion Base. I spent $600+ on resin terrain for Dropzone Commander instead of picking up the Anphelion Base around 2015~ when I was about to grab it new. Simply too much for a game I wasnt playing at the time (40k 7th edition)

I've regretted buying Sedition Wars on Kickstarter. After reading through the rulebook, I had a much lowered interest in playing the official game, and I just don't have a good game to use very many of the minis with to justify the tedious model cleanup.

Lately, a chance purchase I made that I ended up very much not regretting was getting some Wild West Exodus plastics to play a Steampunk-ified Draculas America. At first I was pretty surprised by their huge stature (they are taller than Primaris Marines or Stormcast), but upon assembling them I found that they have really, really awesome levels of detail for plastics, as well as true-scaled weapons and gear, which is a real change from most minis wargames.

Much better than even modern GW plastics, and it's crazy when you see an actual scale colt revolver (even at a larger 32mm) that is as small/smaller than the smallest Space Marine combat knife. It really showcases how GW models are very much comic-book proportions. The bullets in loops on their belts, while easily distinguished, are impossible for me to paint, they are so small.

The worst thing is when their moulds break and they are getting a new one the model goes "unavailable" for a "random period of time" So you've no idea if its gone gone or just gone for a bit. Magma dragon being gone would be a huge blow I wanted to get one for ages just never had a "reason" to get one. Makes me glad I grabbed a warpstone dragon already.

Part of the random part of the things going unavailable is that you don't really know when your mold will fail. You can guess and figure, but the certainty of when a small detail bit will tear free and thus ruin that part of the mold.. you don't really know. Since you cannot repair a mold and the molds they make are HUGE multi-model molds.. they just discontinue the failed model.

Fair point.

The trouble is espeth has gone "no longer available" rather than "temporary" out of stock.. Which would lead onto the carmine dragon following suit because it's just missing the rider and is otherwise the same model. So im really worried it will go OOP... Damn.. decisions decisons..
