I quite like the round shields on the Elves, like you say they fit the Grecian aesthetic (the dust gives them the antique look too ). The Spearman looks Bob on too!

BTW, after the last comment I’ve been researching Grim Dark schemes for my Primaris, for which I’m thinking Dark Angels

Welcome and thank you. Yes unfortunately I never painted the Elven maids and butlers that were supposed to do most of the cleaning while they were in their box!

Haha thanks Gobert, I did give them a quick brush but the camera certainly picked up plenty of dust! I like the sound of some Dark Angels!

Whoops I forgot to add the photo!

Just a quick shot of the remaining 3. The first of the citizen milita to take up arms in the defence of Chrace (although originally they were painted in the classic blue and white as defenders of Ulthuan).

The had a nice spa day in some simple green a year ago and then have sat in a box while I painted 40k. So now they are soon to be painted up. I'm glad I took this photo just to enjoy the remnants of that sweet Goblin Green! What a colour eh?

A quick elven update for you all, finished the other 3 spearelves and my first 4 miniatures are complete. First picked them up in the late 90s as my first foray into Warhammer. How much has changed since then eh?

They've killed many a foe over the years so it's nice to finally give them a worthy paintjob.

Up next I'll try and do army shots of both my Ad Mech and High Elves. Hoping to paint up some Ellyrian Reavers for an upcoming game against some Empire.

@gobert @CB - thanks both, I appreciate it!

Finished up one of my Ellyrian Reavers. Pretty happy with the result, I was thinking of going for a more colourful helmet plume but in the end I just kept it white.

Of course with a Chracian warhost, I thought they would suit cavalry axes better than spears. Maybe somewhere down the line I'll Greenstuff the shoulder pad so it matches up, although I don't actually know where to buy GS these days? I don't see it on the online GW store. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

I still have to do the shield, I don't have any of those small kite shields they originally came with anymore but perhaps the circular shields of the 4th edition Shadow Warriors could work?
I don't know if you happen to have anymore spare Captain Brown?

Would love some feedback, so let me know what you all think!

Cheers

I see Liquid Green Stuff on the GW site, but not the traditional two-part putty.

Having said that, you should be able to find "generic" green stuff on eBay pretty easily, at a better price for the volume than GW charged.

Ah great thanks, I figured I'd just get it elsewhere. I just wasn't sure why the putty was gone? Supply issue?

Not sure, to be honest - there are also a few listings for Green Stuff on Amazon UK, including one where you can get a foot of it for £13.99, which seems reasonable compared to the sort of prices GW used to charge.

Thanks, I'll hopefully pick some up soon!

Just a quick update today, finally managed to take an army photo of my High Elves. Not the best photos in the world unfortunately, there's not too much light by the time I'm back from work.
There's still a lot more to paint and I've got a few of my adeptus mechanicus conversions to paint up too!

Impressive Elven army. I do miss seeing the massed ranks of WFB games going on at the FLGS. Age of sigmar never quite had the same visual appeal in my opinion. What do you think will be next on the painting docket?

It's one of my all time favourite minis, I got it many a year ago for to make a shadow warrior warband for Mordheim. I still have plans for that some day.

Speaking of the scions of Nagarythe. Here are my 6th edition shadow warriors. Love the cloaks on these models, superb sculpts.

Up next is more ellyrian reavers plus some admech I guess!

Yes I have some plans for nice movement trays and some nice unit fillers as well. In fact, I started on building a Hawkship as a terrain piece but that's a sad story and it is in a bad state of affairs!

Cheers CB, really appreciate it.

Quick update today folks with my second reaver. I've also added a shield to the first one. As always when you photograph your models you suddenly spot little mistakes, need to shade around the reins on the neck of the musician's horsie.

Up next more reavers and maybe some indomitus marines. I've painted up one in a new colour scheme so might paint up 5 as a little squad.

Haha thanks Gobert, funny it turned out I never posted them in my painting log, just on my instagram, it's just as well because I really like the new colour scheme!

Cap'n Facebeard wrote:Very nice elves, the colour scheme really unifies the army.

Thankee kindly Cap'n, there's more elves up next but for now..

So it's only been 11 months since I bought the Indomitus box, but y'know a lot has happened this year. How could I have predicted my house flooding, having to move, starting a new job and all the bloody rest of it

My wife and I popped in to a local GW last weekend, picked up a few paints she wanted for her models and I liked them so much I decided to paint the marines with some of those colours.

EDIT: Oh and ignore the bases, they look like cack now because I plan on painting them in a weird purple alien world style.

So I present the Knights of Fey, born from the ashes of my ancient space marines army which sadly no longer exists. Blown to the four winds like all my old warhammer
They were originally called the Flame Guardians, fought in the 13th Black Crusade and on Medusa V, often fighting alongside my Imperial Guard airborne regiment, the 101st Redburn Dragoons. A lot of my mates had Tyranids so I think lorewise their near total annihilation at the hands of the gribbly menace. But they are born a new thanks to the genies who created Primaris. And thus a new chapter is born of their ashes.

I use the word Fey in their name in the old english definition meaning "those doomed to die". A fitting name for 40k eh?

Up next is more elves, but I have to say I do enjoy painting space marines. It's just so easy in comparison!

Cheers

They look the business Olthannon, the (Alpha Legion?) transfers look cool. The red accents are a nice touch too. The Fey part of their name is rather fitting, especially for a chapter that has been resurrected from the past, both in their fluff and real life. Hopefully the Primaris can add to their long history of glory

Cheers Gobert, they're actually freehand of some twisty triskelions, changed them up to make them slightly unique. I need to paint up some more and the necrons to boot!

But for now here's another Ellyrian Reaver, this time the champion.

Really happy with how they turned out, sadly their horsie lost their tail but with some greenstuff on the way I plan to fix that up.

Took a bit of extra time with the champion as there's some nice little details in the sculpt. It's a bit washed out in the photos but the red robes have much more depth to them!

Three down, two to go for this unit and then it's back to the grim darkness of the far future...

Cheers all!

Reavers are looking cool. I like the decision to go with the bronze/gold for the sword. Pretty striking in contrast to normal steel color.

Thanks! I figured el capitano would need a fancy looking blade.

So 4 down and one left, here is the standard bearer. On the basis of the harbinger having a fancy sword, I gave mr flag man here a normal steel one. I don't know about anyone else but I really struggle with steel colour, I find it quite difficult to contrast so that it looks good. I tried to do socks for the horsie in black, which went okayish. Don't think I'll try that again for the last one

I found a PDF of the old High Elf banners so I'm going to print a couple off for my reaver here and the swordmasters. I'm looking forward to it, even if it's going to be a pain fiddling around with PVA to get it right.

EDIT: By the way, if you are looking at my pictures on PC, holy hell I can only apologise. I do everything on my phone and it looks fine, uploading them now on PC and man the large pictures look awful!

Anyway, thanks for looking and as always comments and criticism are very welcome.

Cheers!

Ha! Everyone’s minis look a bit shonky on a big screen, don’t sweat it. The Reavers are coming together nicely, I can’t wait to see the banners, especially if you keep with the same colour palette. If you come up with a good TMM for your swords let me know too!

You could just do a bob tail with your green stuff, that would save you trying to copy the other long flowing elven tails.

Just an idea.

I think it was the surprise more than anything! Haha, will see what happens with the printer, that will be a fun little experiment. As for the TMM, I'm certain it's about getting the shading right but I feel like I just miss the mark.

Thanks CB, definitely what I was thinking, I seem to recall that the Silver Helms horses had some shorter tails for the front rank.

So that is the unit complete, minus the banner and the tails. I'm still awaiting greenstuff being delivered so until then I've got a bit of a hankering for 40k. Time to paint some robo boys.

Can't help but think the Champion is going "Will you get that horn out of my face? And you, watch where you're waving that sword..."

Do they still rank up if you switch the standard bearer and musician around?

I'm trying to remember the name of the magic sword that had a gold blade - was it the Blade of Shining Gold, or something like that?
